I've run into this issue from time to time on Amazon. So my takeaway is buyer beware. I think is Amazon if gets enough complaints from a seller they kick them off. So folks should definitely post a review and express their dissatisfaction to Amazon. Eric
I definitely posted a review on the item as well. At this point, Amazon has issued a refund for 3 of the 4 spark plugs. Thanks so much for your comment. I really appreciate it.
I had no idea Amazon was flipping so many of these counterfeit spark plugs! Gotta love RUclips & more than a handful of folks talking about ebay & to my surprise Amazon selling bogus products! Phew, glad my AC Delco plugs were the real ones & my Delphi coils are good. But i really paid attention to the coils because some are made in Mexico & some in Canada & of course China!
I like Amazon when it saves me from running around store to store to find what I need. But yeah, never would have expected this. Thanks so much for your comment.
That’s a bad customer experience for sure. I really like Amazon but there are lots of knock offs and low quality products out there. I have a short experience as an Amazon seller and realized that reviews are heavily manipulated mainly when there are less than 50. Thanks for sharing buddy. Cheers 🍻, Eddie
I was browsing Amazon for spark plugs today, and I could see so many counterfeit products. The same goes for Samsung phone chargers. There are so many that look like official products, but are cheap Chinese knockoffs that could be fire hazards. Those poor quality counterfeit spark plugs you received could cause catastrophic engine damage. I'm glad you saw the problem and returned them to Amazon.
Spark plugs are one of the biggist gimmick merchandise in the aftermarket automotive arena. Just buy good ol copper electrode plugs and you'll likely be happy with them for ~30k miles. Copper is second most conductive metal of the elemental metal. More conductive than iridium, ruthenium, and platinum. Copper does wear out at a quicker pace but they offer the best fuel economy for 30k miles and they are less than half the price of iridium. Replace them and your good to go. I want to check for vacum leaks that often anyway so might as well replace the plugs while you are doing this. I run Copper and have never popped a code because of them. Cheers
Thanks for your comment. I do appreciate you taking your time to do so. I won’t pretend to be an expert on the topic. But when APR recommended a spark plug to use with the tune/modified engine, that’s what I decided to do. Thanks again.
Thank you for covering this topic. It is shameful that Amazon doesn't do something to stop the counterfeit parts sales. I have been a victim of these types of rip-offs and it has caused me to start buying from local spot. I know I drifted way off topic and I shouldn't have. I appreciate you raising awareness on these scams!
@@UrAvgRiderthanks for confirming my suspicions! The first bike had a super gummed up,corroded factory carb that was causing the bike to bogS Teplaced carb and plug and all of a sudden the bike was so inconsistent it felt like there was a ghost tugging on the throttle cable. It was taking off on its own and not idling unless the idle screw was holding the slide Damn near half way open. We assumed it was a bad carb and put yet another on it,only to find that the plug was the issue. And then again a few weeks later I have a freshly rebuild top end on a different bike and I keep chasing a bog,not hitting band and having to clean a brand new plug that’s fouled over and over. Try the old, crappy plug from before it was rebuilt? Thing is as crisp as anything 😂🎉 Definitely learned my lesson there
@@ellisberry8747 It’s an unfortunate lesson some of us have learned. Not something I typically think of when purchasing items from Amazon. But now I’m definitely aware. Thanks again.
Pretty sure the problem contributes to people cheating the system. Someone probably bought a set of ngk and autolite plugs and returned the Ngk plugs with autolite plugs in it. If it’s an Amazon warehouse distribution, I’m pretty sure the package was not checked and just put back in inventory. Now someone like this guy got the short end of the deal when it’s resold.
Its not just spark plugs and its not just auto parts either. Amazon and eBay are flooded with counterfeit stuff coming from China. I've also seen ignition coils, modules, engine sensors and even brake pads, all fake. Another big thing is SD cards. There's a video on here where a guy purchased 10 SD cards from different sellers and 7 of them were either counterfeit or had been mislabeled specs.
I don’t doubt it at all. Someone told me to be wary of items with less than 50 reviews. As it’s too easy to fake those too. Thanks for your comment.

There are a lot of fake NGK plugs being sold on eBay and other places. There are videos on Y-T about how to tell the difference, but I just steer clear of NGK altogether.
Thanks so much for your comment. I’m not saying all spark plugs purchased on Amazon are wrong. But it’s worth having a closer inspection at them to ensure they are correct. I hope yours were correct.
@@UrAvgRider I went to my local advance auto parts and picked up a set of ngk iridium plugs and changed them out before my engine even cooled off completely! Rather be safe than sorry!
Thanks for your comment. I believe it’s been determined that Amazon will always be “buyer beware”. Check out reviews and seller information as it will be the best to make an informed decision.

I got counterfeit Toyota plugs and coils from Amazon. I noticed it too late to return.
That is very unfortunate. Thank you for commenting.

I’ve had TWO 2 stroke dirt bikes going wild from dodgy Amazon spark plugs. Very weird

Need to read the brand name in product description. Not the title. Tells you exactly what you’re getting.
I wouldn’t say that is always the case.
How bout 02 sensors ??????????

Auto parts store proper spark plug real one
While I agree, my local shops didn’t have the spark plug I was looking for. Not without trying to hunt it down. Thanks for your comments.

Thank you. Just cancelled my Amazon order of NGK’s. DEC 2033. Chinese trash Amazon rip off.
