    Oh!!! The Summer of 1984, how great it was,
    such a great time to be a child, Street Hawk, Bruce Sprinsteen's Dancing in the Dark & Born in the U.S.A. was in the radio non stop, went to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom at the Cinema, and watching V and V The Final Battle on TV every Saturday Night for 5 weeks, truly superb times!!!🏆

    My FAVE series of the 80s!!! I, too, met Jane Badler! She was doing her show at Toff of the Town in Melbourne and she threw me a black rose 😀 WHAT A CLASSY LADY!!!
    I was SO pleased she was given a role in the V reboot?
    I just wish the reboot itself had been better.
    And killing off Diana?
    No wonder it got axed.
    But yes... I find myself YEARNING for a proper reboot, faithful to the original.
    And with a role for Diana that truly HONOURS Jane and the wonderful character she created!
    Sigh.... sadly? The world seems to lack the ability to make shows like V, anymore.

    What a brilliant show this was. I was hooked on this as a kid and never missed taping it. TV was fun back in the 80’s when you never had to worry about offending someone. Great cast on this show and I always liked the fact it was the English actresses (June Chadwick and here Sarah Douglas) who got up Diana’s nose.

      To OP.
      Except that *today* you have people whining about women in pivotal or powerful roles and (wrongly) believe this is something new when V and other tv shows did it almost 40 years ago. Did people back then complain about the most important character of the visitors being a woman or that the leader of the resistance is a woman?? No. But they sure as heck do *today* . Perhaps modern social media brings out the *worst* people en masse.

    • @nickgodfrey1148
      @nickgodfrey1148 2 года назад +3

      @@paulallen8109 you are right there. Possibly because it’s far easier to complain and have your complaint heard via social media. Back then, you had to write a letter or use the phone. I also think along the way, people have become more fragile and are far quicker to take offence. A lot of the fun seems to be missing.

      Agreed. I was always fascinated with the motherships of the V Sirian fleet. Fifty motherships arrived on earth but how many more of them were there? This show was a classic, a favourite and was very well received until the TV series. I wish they would do an actual worthy reboot which involved the original visitor fleet, totally ignoring the 2009 interpretation. But yes I loved the opening shot as well. A new threat indeed….for Diana that is: Pamela’s arrival.

There is more to this picture in the remake when there is strongly implied females have more prominent role than males, because their species is organised similar to ant hives. Pamela and John are supreme commanders, why does their uniform doesn't have the same number of stripes ???

    • @MrJoowoneeno
      @MrJoowoneeno 3 года назад

      I think Pamela was a squadron commander - whatever that meant. John once said he was referred to as a supreme commander, but he himself compared himself to being more of an admiral. And John had to give the final approval to cut back Diana's growing power.

    Pam and Diana appear to wear the same rank.

    • @JukeboxJoeB
      @JukeboxJoeB 5 лет назад +5

      That actually always confused me. It seemed obvious from the dialogue in V that Pamela was Diana's superior, and there's even a part where she says to Diana "Your ship is but one in my Squadron". However, they both have the same number of stripes across their chest! The 2 best explanations I've heard are #1- It was a screw up. #2- The Visitor ranks are based on a combination of the stripes they have on their chests and the stripes they have around their wrists. Not that anyone would actually notice that, but apparently Pamela's sleeve looked very different from Diana's sleeve, indicating that she was higher in rank.

      has 4 stripes on sleeve

      @@JukeboxJoeB - It was a major screw up. I was only a child when I saw this, but I remember that a lot of people who watched this show had the same question on their minds: If Pamela is Diana's superior then why do they both have 3 stripes on their uniform?
      But when I noticed the 4 stripes on Pamela's sleeve, then I realized it was a screw up. I was surprised that no one never noticed that, especially since it probably took over 100 people to put this show together. If it was a minor flaw like a missing ear ring or something, I can understand nobody noticing.
      Obviously Pamela was supposed to have 4 stripes on her chest also, because even though she outranked Diana, who wore 3 stripes, she was still lower in rank than John, who had 5 stripes on his uniform.

    • @JukeboxJoeB
      @JukeboxJoeB 5 лет назад +2

      @@cutekevin3039 Actually, someone I know who is a V expert said that you are actually supposed to add the number of stripes across the chest to the number of stripes around the wrist. So based on that logic, Diana would be a total of 6 stripes, and Pamela would be 7. I guess it actually does make sense if you look at it that way, but that does seem a little overcomplicated. So I'd say it's more likely that it was just a screw up 😅

      Derek Bialy Blaustein So as someone who was actually in the military, I can say that one person can be of the same rank as someone else, and still hold positional power over them. This is actually quite common because rank/pay grade offers a distinctive type of authority, while position offers another kind. Someone can be the same rank as you, and still “outrank” you based on either their position (duty title), or their time in grade. An Air Force Group Commander is oftentimes a Colonel, however the Wing Commander (which may also be a Colonel or in rare cases a Brigadier General) always outranks the Group Commander (because a group is subordinate to a wing). So if you have two Colonels, and one of them is the Wing Commander, he is the ranking officer by default. Similar situations occur in the Army and Navy as well, so I assume the same would hold true in this rank structure. Diana is a “commander”, but Pamela is called “supreme commander”. They are both commanders, but Pamela’s authority supersedes Diana’s because of her position (being sent directly by the leader to take charge).

    the thing is space ships like the star trek enterprise in the original series, are not really what i would call a real space ship, and what i would call it is just a film, set, when i think about the original battlestar galactica, and even more of the mother ships, in v, they too me, are more like actual proper space ships, that no doubt in my mind, i can really walk around, and touch every surface, and because know doubt we do not enough about these vast flying saucers which is maybe a good thing, i now want to visit there home planet. which no doubt is so technology, advanced, that these lizaards, can just built of of these proper space ships, no doubt in only a few months. not that is what i want to see, of of these space ships being built, even no doubt if i would be taking part in there construction, beneath a whip.

    • @paulallen8109
      @paulallen8109 2 года назад +1

      *Because* impossible alien names are hard to relate to.
      Why are you surprised by this btw? Most Americans/British won't see a non-English language movie. Too alien for them. Yet it's their own species. This is why Hollywood makes English language *remakes* of movies which were hits elsewhere.
      The writers of V were astute enough not to go the way of Star Trek with weird Klingon and Vulcan names.

    Lord Christ Jesus Our Saviour Said: Beware of Spiritual Strongholds from Space. Be then Perfect like Our Heavenly Father IS: Allow's His Light to Shine and Water to Rain to Good and Evil. Good One's love The Light and Are Glad of Cleansing Rain. Those who Are Evil hate The Light and refuses to Be cleansed By Water of Life. That IS a funny joke yet Truth: They can't stand The Light so Be then Perfect like Your Heavenly Father IS ❤😍🌻🌞

      Seems logical to me: Human can be on ship for diplomatic reason. They must not see lizard. And maybe the process to get the human skin is painful and/or humiliating and/or intrusive. Human skin covers everything, including their nethers.
      For the language ... I always thought they have machine replacing their own langage by another, so they can't speak visitorese when they want.
      I'm more concerned with their blatant disregard at basic security measures.
