Been a while away from RUclips so I hope y’all enjoy this review and let me know what y’all think! 👇👇👇 Next vid in the works is for the Peren Nera Rogue so stay tuned!
Having a homage watch doesn't mean you're not a true enthusiast, as we've always said, "Buy what you like" & certainly don't be swayed by other people's opinions (especially watch reviewers!😂) We all need to choose our own collecting strategy. As for this piece it seems OK & pretty much par for the course for a Chinese special. Decent movement wrapped in a reasonably well-done case that looks fine on the wrist.👍
Yup! I’ve definitely ran into people with very expensive watches and when I’ve asked them about it they have no clue about the brand or history on their specific reference, etc. Same has also happened with people rocking a G-shock on the wrist. I just compliment, smile and carry on though, would never judge them for not being as big a nerd or into watches as me lol. 😅
@@DavidSchwartzjr Yeah. I think that's a Rolex thing. A lot of Rolex owners buy just for brand recognition and bragging rights. For the less aware, they are the pinnacle of luxury watches. Specht&Sohne have a really nice Tag Monaco homage in green. Tag doesn't make it in green. But for $65 you can get a nearly 1:1 copy in green. Also your AliExpress link is broken. Oh, and that Aquanaut is available in quartz for $35(with a sub second).
Yeah I do agree 💯 I’ve seen their Monaco homage and I REALLY want to snag one to check out! I don’t mind that it’s a Mechaquartz movement in it, looks really good! Thanks for the heads up on my Aliexpress link, I’ll get that fixed asap! I appreciate it Kewrock! 😎🙌
@@Kewrock.. yup the sub-second is the one I have. I got this one because I haven't seen another better specced homage out there. And for the price how picky can you be.
For my 60th birthday, I bought what some people consider an 'entry level' Rolex, an Oyster Perpetual (people that call it that are usually just inverse snobs). Anyway, I love it. I wore it when I got married. It's special. It's worth more today than when I bought it. But I get almost equal pleasure from my Pagani Design watches and my Cronos watches, indeed, from all of my watches. And I look after my cheap watches just as carefully as I do my Rolex. The key is to buy watches you like, and pay absolutely no heed to anyone else whatsoever. Buy the watch you'd buy if there were no internet on which to show it off. 😂
My problem is this. I can certainly afford to save up and trade up for my holy grail watch or other luxury watch because I know how to save. But I have a lot more fun collecting homages because it allows me to build a collection. No matter how many times I try to purchase my grail, I always tell myself that I can either spend the budget on one watch, or I can spend the budget on many watches and have many more to choose from in rotation. Although the one luxury watch will be well worth more than the homages put together, I love the hunt and chase for homages, and the ability to diversify my everyday watch collection a lot more than having just one. My situation only. Others are different and will disagree with me but I don’t give a shit. I love collecting homages and I Love the video
I’m with you all the way on every point you made there. For me some additional factors have entered in to my homage watch experience: My taste is changing. I would not buy today some of the homage watches i bought a year ago. With an homage watch, I can make a mistake without a big finacial impact, or an expensive watch to unload, with all the attendant hassle and stress. I also have learned to be less fickle, looking at my mistakes close up. It’s cheap tuition.
My aquanaut homage is even cheaper, from Skmei. Less than $9. I even call it AquaNOT lol. I collect watches just for fun and jokes. If that's not a watch enthusiast, so be it. So far almost 50 watches including some old beat up Casio but mostly homage (or clomage, copage, whatever), zero buyer's regret. I even have homage to Casio and Timex 😂😂😂.
Haha wow $9, can’t beat that! Watch collection is absolutely fun, and at any price point imo. It definitely sounds like you’re an enthusiast to me! 😎🍻🙌
Awesome! I really want to check out the Monaco homage soon! Do you have that one as well? I appreciate the comment and feedback on your personal experiences with the brand. 😎👍
Agree with the intro! What you can afford does not define if you're a watch enthusiast or not. (Also includes if homage or not). For an homage, they did nicely with the case! 😁
Thanks Eve! Yeah they got the looks down pretty well! Just wish it had more quality on the lume and upgraded materials. Glad the intro was relatable! 😎🙌
Good review. Nice macro shots. Your comparison of being a watch enthusiast to being a sports enthusiast was quite apt. As a sports fan one can spend a lot on courtside seats and Superbowl games far from home. Or one can watch for free at home. Same passion; different wallets. As nifty as that clasp looks, I don’t think I want to accept the toxic, futzy band, the risk of the whole thing falling to the concrete because I failed to tailor and assemble it properly. Not liking numerals on this elegant, simple watch. Not a fan of the ‘Spanning The Globe’ dial grooving, either. I prefer the dial on S&S’ Nautilus homage, and ordered two yesterday. Green and ‘Tiffany’ blue.
I bought mine early on its release and mine has a Seiko NH35 movement which is running at +4secs per day. I've gone swimming with it and it's still running after a year.
Buy what you like. That’s the beauty of the hobby. True enthusiasts are accepting of different brands regardless of price. The beauty about watches is how they make us feel. I’ve owned expensive watches that I didn’t wear because it didn’t make me feel the way another watch has. It’s an unexplainable connection we have with our watches.
Thanks man, I agree 💯 it’s all about buying what you like and supporting others for their own tastes/budgets in collecting too! I appreciate you checking out the vid bro! 😎🍻🙌
I have a couple of expensive watches, and I have bought a lot of homage watches as they have refined my choices for size, look thickness, lug length, etc. I have recently received the specht & sohne aquanaut, green dial, and its absolutely beautiful. The finish is more than good for the £62 I paid. There is a couple of marks, one other dial and lume missing on the eleven, but had to use the eye loupe to see. The strap is a pain, but they supplied 2 extra pins, thank god as the pinged into the ether at first attempt. I have been wearing the watch for 3 days now and has lost about a minute. If interacting with your watches, adjusting time/date winding ect, your not a watch enthusiast. Personally, I wish all watches were hand wound as it's a pleasure spending 30 seconds every morning winding my watch. Recommended buy so much so I have just ordered the IWC engineer homage from the same company, as I am not in a million years spending 12 grand on the IWC reissue. Thanks for the honest review. I look forward to watching many more.
I got the blue and the rose gold one. They can be adjusted to run at or near COSC. I put the rose gold one on a brown "aligator" strap with matching hardwear and it looks so dressy for work.
That’s awesome, David! I haven’t tried my hand at regulating any movements myself but that’s good to know it sounds relatively easy to correct on the movement. Did you buy an aftermarket strap that fit the lugs and case shape without any issues?
It needed a 21mm strap and the hardware was a perfect match. I’m going to put the rubber back on and see if I can darken it. That’s the dead give away on that color. The blue is almost perfect.
I own and have owned many 5-figure watches. But I'm such an enthusiast I end up buying tons of homages just for the fun of it, and the affordability. This one isreally nice quality, despite the thickness.
PSA you can get a new FKM strap for like 10 bucks. This particular strap is 100% compatible with the original Patek... those studs etc. Although it's really difficult to fit to the clasp as those ridges are too shallow. One of them had crappy lume application but the second one was perfect. ymmv

To me these watch brands/watch models as an enthusiast is an experiment watch. Just to see how these brands do, being a fan of the actual watch it is a homage and just trying out the design without pretending its a serious matter. I wouldn't wear one of these to a wedding or an important event, but I'd wear it on a random day, to the park or work.
David, I’ve seen these Specht & Sohne come with PP branded straps. + the dodgy “Genève” on the dial, needless to say: these are rebranded replicas. And they give a bad rep to more honest homages like San Martin
Wow I had no idea about that! 😧 I definitely like San Martin and similar brands as an homage option but I’ll have to keep an eye out for companies that are putting out branded and unbranded replicas, thanks for the heads up man.
I have a few of these specht and sohne homages (one is the black with orange accents quartz chrono) and love them all but the 'geneve' on the automatic models really makes me cringe - especially annoying being that I specifically went for the listings that didnt have that on the images
If you tell someone: - Daytona El primero, Hulk, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen are friends and they understand you they are approved watch enthusiasts.
Lol definitely a good way to test those in the know! Imagine taking it a step even further and just dropping random Omega references on them 😅 “I like watches too” “Oh yeah? What do you think of the 310.63.42.50.01.001?” 😐
You are a BRAND enthusiast... These "luxury" brands rip "enthusiasts" off and it's quite hilarious what China can put out for $80 in terms of materials/specs. Speaks volumes as to the HYPE and marketing of these $15,000 luxury watches.
I know watch enthusiasts who own £17 quartz Patek-a-likes, I know watch enthusiasts who own 3 fake Rolex's. And I know someone who wears an AP Royal Oak every day and I wouldn't call him a watch enthusiast. Water resistant, 50m is fine for swimming, washing up, showering.
It’s your opinion.. I’m able to afford a luxury watch but everyone isn’t… whatever makes people happy and looks good to them is what matters. 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ this society is pitiful. Who cares it tells time. Do something that helps the world and not dives into stupid material things.
I have no problem with homage pieces I have a problem with Dups/clones/fake, yes you can save money and buy real luxury watches I did it too, bought my first Tudor last year I will be buying my first Rolex/Tudor this summer, but I own 5 homage watches as daily wears and most are nice watches but the build quality is not something you can compare to luxury watches like Tudor/Rolex. You dont have to spend a ton of money to get nice watches IE Victorinox/Hamilton/Tissot/Longines all make beautiful watches ranging from 500-5000 and having expensive watches to be a horology nut like myself
Bottom line….nobody cares what watch you wear. The only brand with any brand value outside the very tiny watch world is Rolex. It’s a brand that is expensive because nearly any adult human will know it’s value. In other words, if you wear a Rolex people will think you’re rich. Why you would want people to think you are rich? I have no idea. Wear what you want. Nobody really cares if you’re wearing a homage to a relatively obscure glamor watch.
Yeah no offense no matter what I do that A. Lange & Sohen I want isn't going to be a sound and rational financial decision EVER ... ok unless I win the lottery ...
I would NEVER a chinese replica of a legendary watch....It just doesn't sit right with me...I recently bought a Seiko SKX009J, 2 Festinas (Black & Brown straps),...and they are all Genuine...Fake is Fake, so don't buy it!

Soy millonario y tengo un AP blanco cerámica chronograph pero amo muchos los relojes de Skmei.
If you tell someone:
- Daytona El primero, Hulk, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen are friends and they understand you they are approved watch enthusiasts.
Lol definitely a good way to test those in the know! Imagine taking it a step even further and just dropping random Omega references on them 😅
“I like watches too”
“Oh yeah? What do you think of the 310.63.42.50.01.001?”
😐
@@DavidSchwartzjr 😂😂 too far buddy, I’d reply back : turn back to the hodinkee cave
用的西铁城机芯 我有同款
My Homage is by Didun.
How is it? I’ve been thinking out checking out their Tiffany blue automatic some day! 😎👍
@@DavidSchwartzjr I love the shape and feel. I have about 6, all different colors.
Wow 6?! That’s great! Got all the colors and occasions covered it seems hehe. 👍
So, you only wear Levi’s, LEE, and Wrangler? All the other brands are hommages of them😂
no knock offs for me. No one can replace a patek.
You are a BRAND enthusiast... These "luxury" brands rip "enthusiasts" off and it's quite hilarious what China can put out for $80 in terms of materials/specs. Speaks volumes as to the HYPE and marketing of these $15,000 luxury watches.
Recommend me a watch 😁
Haha, there’s soooo many! 😅
@@DavidSchwartzjr well something that looks like it would be worn by the devil but is reasonable and reliable. I trust you.
B.s, i love watches but not all of us have 80 grand to buy one so the only alternative is a homage ok
Its a $60 watch. I can't afford the $60,000 version and I wouldn't walk the streets with it anyway as I would be murdered for it.
"hot horology"? AFAIK, the term is either "high horology" (in English) or "haute horologerie" (in French).
In America, we just mix stuff up and do what we want, lol. For example, we also call Canada “Canadia” or “America’s Hat” 😂🤷🏻♂️
@@DavidSchwartzjr Ah, sorry. I don't speak American and - I hope I'm not being too haughty - I don't like to.
@vaclav_fejt its all good 😎👍
It’s your opinion.. I’m able to afford a luxury watch but everyone isn’t… whatever makes people happy and looks good to them is what matters. 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ this society is pitiful. Who cares it tells time. Do something that helps the world and not dives into stupid material things.
Well said. Why pay 250K for a watch while you can buy the same design for 70€?! I totally agree with you!
Personally i think the strap and clasp is shite, ive swapped mine for a boring leather strap which actually looks OK.
Nobody really cares if you’re wearing a homage to a relatively obscure glamor watch.
it a great watch for 75.00 dollars
Yeah no offense no matter what I do that A. Lange & Sohen I want isn't going to be a sound and rational financial decision EVER ... ok unless I win the lottery ...
First!!!!
Ayyy!! Damn you even beat me bro!! Lol
@@DavidSchwartzjr lol, I like this watch is this the same one I told you to pick up?
@@GottiRC Yessir, it sure is!
@@GottiRC Thanks for the recommendation on it man, had never heard of the brand until you pointed it out!
Comaprig a 100usd watch to a 100k usd patek,,,it shows how pissed you are ...
I've seen a shit ton of negative feedback from owners of this Chinese watch. So I'd recommend to look elsewhere.
I would NEVER a chinese replica of a legendary watch....It just doesn't sit right with me...I recently bought a Seiko SKX009J, 2 Festinas (Black & Brown straps),...and they are all Genuine...Fake is Fake, so don't buy it!
I agree. People who own homage watches are never enthusiastic of their purchases. They’re just dead inside.
overpriced overrated
