Amazing. You can imagine for a moment being there yourself and seeing it all live. Wonder who are these children with the flowers. They must be over 70 years old now...
Thank you! The video footage is not the original broadcast video, it's from the filmer Vincenzo Vicari made from the audience. I think it was without audio, that's why EBU always mixes it with the "Refrain" studio recording. But a full show radio broadcast recording exists, which is way more authentic. Thank you for finally mixing this together.
Refrain (Refrain d'amour…)
I really think the best song won in ESC 1956 but it was already known before the contest she would win. Every country had 2 jurors who would rate each song between 1 - 10. Luxembourg was represented by 2 Swiss jurors due to the Luxembourgian jurors not making it to the contest on time. I have read in the Dutch newspapers published in June 1956 that the Dutch jurors were very angry because they needed to give their ballots out to the Swiss and they counted the votes behind closed doors. That's also the reason there was a open voting the next year!!
I know that the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 was accurately broadcast in the USSR. I can also for sure that Eurovision 1967 was broadcast in USSR. Possibly the recording of 1964 can be found in the Russian television center.
I FOUND A NEWS ARTICLE THAT HAS 6:50 MINUTES OF FOOTAGE! Unfortunately, i cant send the link because YT would filter out my comment, but the title of the article is “La finale dell’Eurovisione a Lugano del 1959”.

Lys Assia got nervous and had to start her reprisal again. That was so sweet to watch.
She was being emotional, because she just won and did a reprise.

Amazing footage! Thanks for uploading!! I had the honour of meeting Lys Assia in Belgrade in 2008. Such a great artist, I miss her.

According to the uploader, it was from a photographer, likely filming it for the news. This was also how we got the 1964 footage.
