Since you mentioned Tourist Trap, might I also mention Family Crest for the ability to store gold in your ore box? Maybe it's less efficient than just buying gold ore from the GE though. Also, Firemaking also contributes to the total heat for smithing too, so that's another viable option to raise your heat besides raising your Smithing.
