She spoke about the disruptive nature of relocation and the various emotions that come with it. She said, “never compare you new life with your world back home. Spend time everyday doing something you love and don’t compromise to fit in, being yourself will attract like minded people to you.

@@grateful1929 Thank you for asking! I am better now, suited into my place, but I think that is natural. We become so familiar with our surroundings, we absorb ourselves in them and then our anxieties decrease. I think once you get a better grasp on the nature of transition and moving forward and keeping a positive mindset, the woes of a new location won't be so overbearing.

@@fluentinsilence I'm so glad you're better. I sincerely mean that. I suffer with anxiety and I have taking medicine for it for 22 years. I'm an older woman (64) and I'm praying about moving by two of my kids. 5 hours away but still in the state of Georgia. I grew up in this small Georgia town. I did leave when I was 11 but I moved back when I was 20. I know so many people and I'm very fearful of leaving what I've known for almost all of my life. All of my children used to live in this town but they've all moved. Although I have friends and I still work I miss my kids. They want me to move up there by them. It is beautiful where they live. North Georgia mountains everywhere. I just cannot imagine waking up and going into town for my coffee and not seeing so many people I know. I am very friendly and I make friends very easily. I am just afraid I will get so homesick and here I have uprooted and moved away. It is only 5 hours away and I could always move back home but that would be a chore. I don't get to see them very much even though it's 5 hours away. I do work Monday through Friday and by the time I drive 5 hours there and 5 hours back home I've spent 10 hours just on the road. Actually it takes me five and a half to 6 hours to get there because I stopped several times. I take my dogs and they have to potty. Also I raised a granddaughter she is now 20 and she goes with me. She has Asperger's and she is a blessing. I did not mean to tell you my whole life story lol!!! 😊🤷

@@grateful1929 I can understand how anxious it can be to be in unfamiliar surroundings around people you don't recognize or know but on the whole, most people are pretty decent. Give them a chance and allow yourself a chance and people are politely welcoming. Same here. Sold my appartment and moved to another part of the country all alone.
Feeling like I lost my shiny energetic cheerful me.
      Waves of depression.
Sudden feelings of doubts and regrets.
Torturing myself that my appartment was perfect in a wanted location in an international city.
Now living in a smaller town with much water and green.
The profit of the sold appt is now spent on renovation in the new house. Bigger house. Big bedroom. I wake up sad and feeling alone.
I know I will be okay bc I went through bigger things like violence in my old appartment.
Working from home, I always enjoyed it. I love freedom and being on my own but lately... I lost all of that. I cry and I keep getting thoughts like: the new kitchen would look so great in my appartment kitchen... I could have done this or that.
Also I was pretty ok being single but after moving I registered on a dating site bc I don't want to live alone anymore and it started after the change of location....
I try to run, cycle and walk but last month I even didn't want to go outside and I am normally really attached to fresh air and physical exercise.
I also coach myself by telling me that there are no wrong choices. It's not the end of the world. Paid off my debts Etc.
Negative voice telling me: why did I do this unnecessarily change, what did I do to myself? I have moved enough in my life from childhood till I bought my safe appartment.
It feels like my old appartment is a person that I have given away to a stranger, the buyer 😔
The city I lived in has very high prices so its almost impossible to go back.
Time will heal but I also tell myself that if I remain feeling unhappy after one full year I will see this house as a project. Life is short and its mine.
I do feel encouraged by the words that it makes us stronger.
      Often formed life long friendships?
      Not for me, I guess.
I live here six months, I've met one lady that I thought could become a friendly connection but she started to harrass me by knocking on my window (she knew my address bc she's a post package deliverer)
That's when I again missed my appartment on third floor with privacy..
I try to look at the positive sides to but I do feel more negative emotions than before.

@@peaceofmindofpeace1650 hi hun that’s exactly how I felt I gave away all my furniture in my bedroom bought new stuff then when I got to the new house I didn’t recognise my bedroom anymore it really freeked me out , I felt totally the same that I gave my home away and someone else had it now , but I wasn’t happy there i was sick with ptsd but didn’t care when I moved here I just wanted it back I would cry even throw up . I forgot why I moved I lost sight of it all ...the 50 miles I moved away felt like I moved to the moon. Honestly time does heal the unfortunate side to time is it takes time 🤦🏼‍♀️. Try focus on the reason you moved write a list of all the good things even to the tiniest detail put it on your fridge and play music you love while reading it out loud that will reinforce the negative emotions about the home . Don’t take one crazy lady as all it has you offer you will meet new people , go online and look for local groups see if there a local facebook group etc . I’m in the uk and we are in lockdown so I havnt been able to meet anyone either. I can’t go bank either and my god I pined so much for my old life , it wasn’t even a life but we are humans and humans like familiarity and over time it will be your familiarity! And the pining and comparing negatively will pass , also you could frost your windows half way or one way film to allow you adjust ive just done that to my kitchen as like you I had a apartment now I have a house with windows the world can look in it’s really helped to have that privacy back , I wish you all the best ...drop me a message if your ever struggling and watch this video every day with earphones at night that’s also what I did to reinforce by decision and remember wtf I did it for xx

Don’t know how to cope with the pain of not seeing my family and friends for 20years. I still call my mum sometimes as I forget they are dead. All these you said are true, the feelings the moments you want to give up and a lot of other mix emotions, not easy at all, I like how you expressed the pains and the way to deal with them even though it is very very difficult to cope but not impossible.

I always love the dutch directness style of honesty holding nothing back.
I appreciate the sharing of potential reasonable experiences.
I am only halfway through so far.
I have to say as a person in the serious stages of starting over this video has given me something to consider more deeply.
I may offer my brother a great incentive to join and support me.
My goals involve pursuing a new wonderful career in a beautiful location and making fullfilling relationships with people etc....still isolation...lonliness..unhappiness...discontent...are some of the reasons I need to relocate so I will consider everything without doubt in end.

I will miss them bad. I will embrace the new as i get on plane to new destination. May we all move forward in our own pace and be happy as ever despite new changes.

We sold our house in Fl because my husband wanted to move to North Carolina, was tired of his current job, missed his friends and family…. Its been 5 months and i still can’t adjust. We used to live in NC years ago and moved to Fl because that is where I felt at home but my husband did not. Since he is the main provider, I followed his decision to move our family to NC. It was a struggle staying with family members because the initial job offer he got was not legit and did not work out. Now he found a stable but the school system is different and the cold weather is getting to me. I still cant adjust…I dont want my kids to suffer because we keep moving…

I moved to a new country. The first three months are the hardest. You experience feelings that you can’t even understand and are so uncomfortable you want to hide under the covers. All people I have spoken to who moved told me it would pass and I didn’t believe them but they were right. Clench your teeth and get through the first three months. See a therapist if possible. It DOES pass and quickly. You will emerge a stronger person, if that is any consolation. But it isn’t just you. You aren’t crazy or weak. It’s incredibly common. Just don’t make major decisions during this time. Stay in it.

I loved moving to Florida, felt safe knowing I had family to count on if I needed it, but I don't, moving back home was horrible, zero support from a family at one point in my life I thought was the greatest, even my daughter could careless, but no pitty parties here, as soon as I can I'm out of here. This time will be different though because I will know my family really sucks.

I decided to go back home to study but ever since I moved back I gradually got more and more depressed and demotivated to the point im second guessing my decision to even stay here and I'm seriously considering moving back to Germany as I feel isolated and out of place in the place I grew up in and once called home

Good video, I have lived in my new home since April now and I have really struggled. I had a 2 month stress breakdown where I couldn’t stop crying because I moved in whilst still on furlough and my partner worked night shift at the time so he was always sleeping during the day and I was alone at night. It got a bit better after a shift change and I started going back to work but I still don’t feel like this place is my home because all my family and friends and the places I know are further away. I had yet another breakdown at simply getting lost whilst driving the other night because the only junction I know to drive was closed. Am I being silly or is this normal. My partner has been completely fine with everything, he moved in by himself 2 years before he met me and every time I ask him how he found it he says he was fine

      Hey how are you now?
It sounds relatable and normal to me. My partner is also very practical and resilient and didn’t have any trouble with our move. Which makes it feel harder when you do. But it’s normal!
And it’s very tough if you’re there alone when your partner is on a different schedule.
