Actually I initially thought Brittany was the problem, but then I realized Lav is the one coming down as an authority figure. Brittany is essentially trying to have philosophical discussion, and Lav is trying to claim that she has objective knowledge of the correct philosophy to hold.
I don't believe spiritual systems are the same as a life coach, as you can go into fairly abstract concepts while trying to find insights from a spiritual/yogic writing. Though it also depends on what is the main focus of her course; whether it is an internal body development/cultivation focused practice, or something that focuses more on spoken knowledge/dharma and societal issues.

"Debate" That's a stretch. Problem with "debate" in this day and age, is that people have no self-control, no stoicism, no intelligence and no knowledge. Looking in retrospect, the relation between Lav, Max and Steven was doomed since the start. Lav is the easiest person to manipulate, and Mr. Girl is a control freak and a sociopath. You know, I don’t even dislike Brittany that much. Like, sure she acts a bit ditzy and all of her affectations seem a bit put on for superficial charm, but overall she seems mostly harmless to me. For me it’s the way that they are trying to have some kind of debate coaching lesson in real time during a debate. It just makes it almost impossible to follow or have any kind of a conversation at all.

Let’s be real, it’s “parasocial fun time!” and of course people like it. Not only is the parasocial aspect built into it, but the amount of money they paid subconsciously makes them attribute value to it. And as annoying as Max can get, his main point is so obviously true: these RUclipsrs and the way they are looked up to is ripe for abuse, and Brittany’s system is set up in a way that is almost perfect scenario for someone to get away with that abuse. This whole thing is a cluster fuck, and I don’t give Max any winning points, but I think his line of reasoning is the most important take away from all this. And that doesn’t mean that Brittany is an abuser. In fact, she’s most likely not. But that’s not the issue! It’s the lack of guardrails and the ambiguity of the relationship and the fact that an abuser using Brittany’s setup would be devastating.

I am a zookeeper in chicago and I regularly feed the hippos day old sausages so they have a taste of their home. This was so good. I feel like Max actually held himself fairly well in this panel. In the past, it's been hard to be on his side, but this time he didn't get distracted from keeping Brittany on the fire. Actually I initially thought Brittany was the problem, but then I realized Lav is the one coming down as an authority figure. Brittany is essentially trying to have philosophical discussion, and Lav is trying to claim that she has objective knowledge of the correct philosophy to hold.
I don't believe spiritual systems are the same as a life coach, as you can go into fairly abstract concepts while trying to find insights from a spiritual/yogic writing. Though it also depends on what is the main focus of her course; whether it is an internal body development/cultivation focused practice, or something that focuses more on spoken knowledge/dharma and societal issues.

Let’s be real, it’s “parasocial fun time!” and of course people like it. Not only is the parasocial aspect built into it, but the amount of money they paid subconsciously makes them attribute value to it. And as annoying as Max can get, his main point is so obviously true: these RUclipsrs and the way they are looked up to is ripe for abuse, and Brittany’s system is set up in a way that is almost perfect scenario for someone to get away with that abuse.
This whole thing is a cluster fuck, and I don’t give Max any winning points, but I think his line of reasoning is the most important take away from all this. Really lovin the extended destiny universe lately. This is some of the most entertaining content I've seen in a long while.
favorite stream in a long time. usually the more drama related long discussions really suck but this one was really fun and felt like a big crossover episode marking the beginning of a new arc by tying in a culmination of characters developed throughout the series with many funny call-backs
and it's even funnier when you have ridiculous characters like Lav, Brittany, and Mr. Girl.
oh, and can't forget Chud Logic and his ChildWarts
I would rather listen to a 24 hour recording of 7 different alarm clocks blaring at max volume, then listen to 5 seconds of Brittany Simon, but don't let this distract you from the fact that "Destiny" is as a matter of fact, the name one would give to a human adolescent female.

Well ... because she has an unbeatable defense, everything is a social construct, i am living in my world you are living in your world, and we have no real way to comunicate between those two worlds. So if anything comes up, that she does not like she just falls back to that. At least thats the way it seemed here for me.

@@ForeverMasterless there is a difference of beliving we all live in our own worlds and we have different interpretations of the same world. Second version allows for discussion and change of those interpretations ... but it seems to me brittany is in the former camp.
@@Hosenbisla No, Brittany's defense is fucking awful. The point everyone is trying to make is that while her system may work for her, it could easily cause harm for others. The argument is that it is a pernicious ideology and that by spreading it harm will come to others. Screaming social construct does not defend harm against others and most reasonable people will agree that then claiming that everything, even harm, is a social construct so it doesn't matter is ridiculous.

This is true, it's unfortunate that Lav, left alone for a thousand years, would never be capable of presenting this logic in a way that isn't needlessly abrasive. Just couldn't figure out how to get the point across. Would just attack Brittany over and over and over again, but then would say that she's "just asking questions" and not trying to dish out any "prescriptions".

A fair amount schizos would be a great addition too... 25 or so; they're good content picks but having a high volume will increase the chance they trigger each others' psychosis. Get around a dozen or so people on the sociopath/psychopath/BPD side to draw content out of these ill people and then fill the rest with destiny fans kekw

This was so good. I feel like Max actually held himself fairly well in this panel. In the past, it's been hard to be on his side, but this time he didn't get distracted from keeping Brittany on the fire.
I'm a fan of Erudite but she did kinda derail lil bit (also she was maybe too inclined to defend Brittany). Same with Lav; Max was right to call out how easy it was to get her to talk about the side convo.

I think it's strange that Max was the only one who seemed to pick up on the fact that getting Brittney to admit to what she said about level 1s required them to work through like an hour of outright denial and slippery tactics. Unfortunately he got distracted and dropped that point when Steven and Kyla ran interference.
I also find it strange nobody really pressed her on the fact that she just said, "Oh it's okay. I corrected myself in one of my VODs." As if people need to search through your random long-form content to find the time where you corrected yourself about a bad take you made on a more deliberate video you made.
Yeah I agree with you. I don't really know all the lore on why Destiny and NotSoErudite ran so much defense for Britney, when she is apparently being slippery and deflecting a lot of questions. Made me a little disappointed, but I'm guessing Destiny is trying to not burn his bridges now that he has way less connections, which kinda makes sense. Although it would be nice if he could sprinkle in some more consistency while doing it.

The adult thing to do when Max brought it up would be to say, "Yeah, I said something and I have changed my position on it." Would be nice to make some sort of accessible correction that isn't buried in a random VOD.
