- Four trips to Indiana later, and I've finally hit all the spots I wanted for this locations video. Two of those trips were for 35th Anniversary events held at the Hoosier Gym and they were amazing. The first was a screening of the film inside the gym and the second was a jersey retirement and autograph signing by the team and screenwriter.
Indiana has some really charming little towns and a bunch of historical gyms that were a blast to explore. Great people and they LOVE Hoosiers! I feel like my love for the movie has grown much deeper after going to the events and locations.

I'm 42, was 7 when this movie came out. Never watched it until today and had to come here and comment. What a great movie! Gene Hackman should have won an oscar for his role as the coach,

I was stationed just down road from Nineveh. I remember standing with my son who was a toddler then on corner where school sat.
I love this a lot.
I was 10 when Hoosiers came out and my Dad took me to see it. He was also coaching my basketball team at the time.
In 2019, my Wife and I were traveling through Indiana and I just so happen to see the sign off the highway for the Hoosiers gym.....we had to stop.
We had the place to ourselves being shown around by a wonderful gentleman.
Shot some hoops and soaked up the gym for a couple of hours.
With my Dad being gone since 2004, it was quite an emotional experience for me.

I love that story, Pumpkin King. Filming locations can be very powerful in that way. I would love to get a chance to do some shooting around in there too!

My band played on the stage in the Hoosier Gym around 1979 for a throwback sock-hop when I was a freshman in a neighboring town. I remember storing our cases and dressing in the locker room.

We stopped at the gym a few years ago on a trip and were allowed to go in and shoot some hoops and go into the locker room, really cool experience.
That's probably the only thing I'd change on my trip. The anniversary even was awesome, but trying to matchup the shots in the gym with all the people and chairs was tough. I really wish I could've shot some hoops there too. Gonna have to go back!

You found Shooter's house! You rock. My first copy of this movie was a used VHS tape. It was already so used the picture was dark. I watched it until the tape finally broke. Thank you for the GREAT vid!

Fantastic movie that my grandpop and I watched a million times. If he said it is accurate, a guy in his 20s who played traveling basketball and coached in the late 40s and 50s, you know it is

Great video. My grandfather lived in Knightstown - right down the road from the gym. My dad played a bunch of his high school basketball games in that gym in the 50’s.
