We love Testaccio! Great food, easy pace, not so crowded, and the people we encountered there were so very friendly and generous with us.

Very good overview of Testacio, which is so much less touristy than some areas. We did stay there years ago on our only trip to Rome. So, I think it's fine for first timers if you have a several days. We stayed on Via Marmorata near the Ponte Sublicio Bridge. We had no idea we were so close to the Aventine Hill, and completely missed that.😪 But we did cross the bridge into Trastevere, a quaint, cool neighborhood. While we did use the Metro, took a cab once, we easily walked to most of the sights. It's not that bad of a walk to the Roma Ostiense railway station from Testacio, especially if you are traveling light and want a train to the airport. The Testacio Market seems much bigger, with more eateries than when we were there. The people in the neighborhood were friendly too. Volpetti's is worth a stop, yum.

Great video, and I love the itinerary. The pyramid tomb very impressive built right into the Aurelian wall! And right behind it is where John Keats is buried. Now I know another good place to stay.

@@RozierRoma I stayed there before the metro connected and it was a drag to the centro storico. Now that the C line connects at San Giovanni things don't take as long. It is pretty cool neighborhood, and the graffiti is pretty cool to wander around and see..

@@RozierRoma I did a tour (in Italian) of the inside of the Piramide several years ago (maybe 2010?). It was available through COOPCulture and only available certain days of the week. My son did the tour in 2018, also in Italian and it was much more popular. It would be worth researching if one is interested. For me, it entered through a tunnel (had to crouch over) into a chamber. There were frescos on the walls, and you could see where robbers tried to tunnel in. The guide said that the robbers assumed that the pyramid would have treasure like in Egypt, but it was similar to any other Roman tomb - a place to visit and revere the ancestors.
