  • The Northern Ireland weather gave the crews of over 75 boats 4 seasons in one day for the annual Strangford Lough Yacht Club Regatta, the wind for racing was between 10 and 20 knots.
A big shift during the start sequence meant that the committee end of the line was favoured, GTR picked up on this and hit the rocks just before the gun which allowed them to tack onto port and cross the fleet on the way to start to finish victory.
The 30 degree wind shift turn the course into a bit of a precession with limited passing lanes due to the lack of beats, these conditions were perfect for the Redline Racing team on the J109 GTR as it turned most of the downwind legs in to reaches were were perfect for the J109.
After the kite selection on the first downwind leg was perfected, as the breeze built on the send downwind and the angle tightened it was all hand to pump to try and get enough hight to make it to the next mark.
On the third downwind leg the crew on GTR dropped down to the A3 which was the perfect sail to pull away from the rest of the fleet, it is always a great feeling to get the boat speed into double figures while remaining in complete control.
