The perfect example of english music. The great british invasion of the 1980s. The pinnacle of music genius, the renaissance of the 20th century. Long live GEN X. Good times. Better days. Welcome 2024, greetings from the Philippines. God bless us all.....
I was 21 in 1988 and I don't remember this song at all. I found it on an 80's mix today. I'm in love again with 80's music. Thank you The Wild Swans. I'm young again!
Goodbye... Flower of England The pain never fades away after all this time World war And revolution The heart in the heart of England will never die Bringing home the ashes Is more than I can bear Goodbye King of sorrow The curse of a thousand years beneath the gloves Worn down and hardly breathing The heart in the heart of England will never die Bringing home the ashes Is more than I can bear When winter lightning flashes You'll find me lonely there Bringing home the ashes Is more than I can bear When winter lightning flashes You'll find me lonely there
I'm a European retiree in the Philippines, living here for almost 10 years. Never heard of this band back home. Some retro radio stations in the Philippines played this song up and down. According to Wikipedia the band was very popular in the Philippines.
@@loulou55... I'm from Philippines and Jam 88.3 every Sunday has a program called "Vintage Jam" where songs from the 60s-80s are played. Usually classic alt rock, new wave, classic metal, punk, and pop rock. I discovered this song because of them during a rainy afternoon and heard it yesterday. These guys are still popular here :) Nice to hear retirees are actually living in PH tho
This band is so amazing and their songs are brilliantly inspiring through 80’s generation. It inspires every people that listens to this kind of music, it connects us from war to peace.
i was born 1990 and i was in my teenage life age 16 when i heard 80's songs and i adore it and appreciate it how 80s song was so amazing and this song still make me cry even though im not born 80s still make me feels sad and like attach to this time and moment sorry for my bad english.. how i wish i was born this time and reminisce my childhood such a great song still 80's rock 2013 and forever
I'd explain to my daughter who gravitated towards 80's music, that she may have previously lived in that era and life was cut short. Born in late 90's yet seemingly wanting the 80's!
One of the best music of the 80' back in Manila, love the beat, melody smooth rendition of this music, never thought they're so many pinoy with great music taste.
Tama ka kasi kanta ng 80 pumutok ng early 90 kasi under ground concert masarap ang kabataan noon kaysa ngayon wala dance party noon tuwing sabado may sayawan mayaman mahirap pantay katayuan
I never heard of this band till I happened upon this video. Loved this song right from the start. That's the appeal many underground 80's bands had on me. Was such a treat to discover so many unknown bands on college radio.
+Bernardo Carpio The Beatles redefined rock n roll forever, and will rightly go down as the greatest group of all time. But as an era, the 80s produced far more beautiful music. I don't know how it happened, but it did.
i remember my highschool days just by listening to this song.its like a time machine😂i love you so much christine manalili my love for you never dies. carlo
If I was a Gardener, I would take these seeds and plant them in a land for the new generations, please don’t leave this jewel in the oblivion. I’m pretty sure one day I’ll be comeback again.

Bringing Home The Ashes by Wild Swans - probably the best album ever to come out ot Liverpool, England. Such a masterpiece, and that is why I treasure my CD and LP of this album to this day. From Wild Swans came The Lotus Eaters, another excellent 80's band. The greatest music was written in the 80's, and as a result all the other decades are suffering with mediocre songwriting. Only Coldplay has come very very close.
I just like this song! Goodbye... Flower of England The pain never fades away after all these times World war... i was in primary school and got hooked up with new wave music because my teenage cousins and uncles were all hardcore new wavers. Now im 40, semi-retiring and swore to finish my beach house and kitesurfing resort within 2019, open an 80s themed bar where everybody is welcome to hang out, chill and we can all listen to 80s music 24/7😊

Very nice.. thanks to my American Christian friend John Davis for alerting me to this song. The wild swans must have flown over my head and I missed them. As you say John, ... very British :-) Cheers buddie .
You're welcome my friend! I missed it too until about a year ago. I would have played this when I was a DJ back in college. Very sorry Wild Swans! I played the heck out of Prefab Sprout and The Lightning Seeds but I didn't know about you.

Cette chanson, c'est un regard triste mais affectueux pour le coeur de l'Angleterre, notamment le nord, plus pauvre que le sud, doté d'une âme forte et attachante. J'aime The Wild Swans, j'aime The Lotus Eaters, China Crisis, j'aime l'Angleterre !

this band was rarely toured. i got to see them by accident in 1988 in michigan theater. a night to remember!!!! it was the peak of true alternative at its best. they broke up and formed OMD or orchistra manuvers in the dark.

These early 80s bands were the days and music of my sullen long coat and black suede creepers.

You have a valid argument..But dont forget the Beatles..

Goodbye...
Flower of England
The pain never fades away after all these times
World war...
And revolutions
The hearts in the heart of England will never dies
Bringing home the ashes
Is more than I can bear

King of sorrow
The curse of a thousand year beneath the gloves
Worn down and hardly breathing
The hearts in the heart of England will never dies
Bringing home the ashes
Is more than I can bear
When winter lightning flashes
You'll find me lonely there
Bringing home the ashes
Is more than I can bear
When winter lightning flashes
You'll find me lonely there
World war...
And revolutions
The hearts in the heart of England will never dies
Bringing home the ashes
Is more than I can bear
