Cool Starting 80’er Monday with those #70 5’ rough ledgestone. A lake area job here. 5’ tall. 57 Stone is over a grand for a triaxle load here. We are running small stone for base and back fill. I guess we are going to run the dump trailer as long as our quarry is open every day. These are 800-1200 lb blue & brownstone. Fun Fun

You ever think about hiring an experienced civil project manager ? Preferably a college graduate in a related field .We have a utilities division who were simply swapping dollars until we fired just about everyone and replaced them with quality people. They are the hardest thing to find so inevitably end up using expensive executive search people .
There should be a decorative type of cap block a little higher than the dirt where water does not run over top of wall! ( my opinion ) that’s how I fill.

The day my boss threw me a set of blueprints for a massive commercial HVAC job I about shit myself. I was only a year deep into the trade, fresh out of school at 30yo, but he said "you're ready". Of course I triple checked everything, lost sleep, re drew every custom fitting I had to get made, and how much insulation, spiral pipe, screws, hanging strap, uni strut, etc that I needed, but it all worked out well. It was Bar Louies at Patriots Place in Foxboro if anyone ever goes to a game, just look up, all the duct and spiral pipe is exposed 😂
You don’t do any of your own trucking? We use a flat bed tow truck to pick up our blocks as well as some of our equipment such as bobcats, 308 cat excavator. A flatbed tow truck is very useful

If it’s 750 a load for gravel and that’s high then what’s the normal price? 750-850 is average around here for gravel and we within a cpl hours of quarry. Clay is about 400 a load and top soil is about 650 all tri axle loads.

Because, it would have been a fortune, and much harder to cut up Victorian houses in the 80's than to just include everything. Which with apartments those utilities aren't too bad, unless a tenant tries growing weed with a 1000 WATT light bulb, but it does add up. With commercial, IDK what you have for a service, but if guys are in their welding, with heaters running, an air compressor and other high ampergae items, it can add up. This price gouging bullshit is hurting everyone, no one stays in buisness long losing money.

Maybe give breaks on markups or a slow billable day for your guys, but don't go eating massive input costs IF those input costs changed on you post contract submittal. Cost plus and get to work. Residential of course. Commercial or municipal hire a professional estimator
No way you tell the customer how much your loosing. One makes you look like a rookie, and two outs a guilt trip on them. Totally unnecessary. Plus the language. Even if the customer cusses geez GD this F this GD this. Bad practices here.
