That's awesome, 73mpg's...... I once rode rode my Heritage back to NY from NH 183 miles and got over 63MG's... A Causal ride at 60MPH, downhill, in the rain, definitely helped.
That's pretty good mileage. My 2014 Sportster "48" was getting about 50 MPG. First thing I did was switch the 2.1 gal. Peanut tank for a 4.5 gal. tank. I have 3 Sportsters, a 1964 XLCH and a 1975 Iron Head (AMF) and the "48". I bought them new and have kept them along with a 1949 Cushman motor scooter I bought when I was 14. I'm 76 now...and still riding and wrenching.
I have a 1993 883 Sportster that I bought new, it gets around 45 MPG. other than pipes and a CVP carb kit the engine is still stock. I also changed tanks, put on a 3.2 gal sportbob with the dash kit
It's great that Harley finally listened to the younger generation and made an awesome bike for an affordable price. I definitely want to check one of these out at my local dealership
That Trail 125 is pretty cool. I've been working on a 1960s CT90 of my grandfather's that looks nearly the same. My great-grandpa drove it all over the desert for quail and deer, and it still only has like 300 miles on it. Got it running again a few weeks ago.
12min 50sec I don't know if you'll ever see this, but this goes for everyone, you should never feel embarrassed about something you can't change about yourself. Everybody is different for a reason, and the best thing you can do for yourself is embrace those things; no matter how weird or annoying it might seem to other people or even yourself, you should embrace and cherish those qualities about yourself. One of the main reasons I started watching your channel (and youtube in general) was because of how genuine you are, so I vote take the shades off!
I used to be a motorcycle courier in the 90s and i used a stock 883 4 speed chain drive sportster and i could get from Birmingham to London on a stock tank, fill up as i got off the motorway, deliver, then top up to get back to Birmingham on another full tank. The accelerator pump on the carb drank fuel. The fuel economy went south once i fitted a dynojet kit and didn't get 120mph out of it on the M25 (London orbital motorway), i also never pulled a 9 mile wheelie on the M1( main motorway London to the north) because i was bored (there were no cameras in those days). I wasn't going for 10 miles. I should point out that American gallons (3.79L) are smaller than UK gallons (4.54L). Size IS important Sean. The fuelly site is a great source for real world fuel economy figures.
It's pretty cool to see Harley support the people who support them. My honda is so bad at gas mileage they never even but a gauge on, just a little light.
This is by far my favorite motorcycle channel on RUclips! It would be AWESOME if you and Greg would do something like a Top Gear/Grand Tour like multiple day tour with both of you having a bike in a certain theme, and then doing challenges along the way. I would happily donate to make something high budget like that happen one day! Keep up the great work!
H D is on their game. They know who loves them and for sure care about you and your product. Shoutout to them for being real HUMANS. Lets go Harley. Merica
In regards to the MPG, you are correct about the engine running at "full capacity". It definitely decreases the fuel economy regardless of how big or small the engine is. Like you said, real world driving the MPG would be less. Cool experiment and interesting to see.
Yeah driving style matters a lot. My Triupmh Tiger goes like 50mpg if I let throttle in when I want and do all kind of driving doing some faster speeds and offroading. But If I stick to steady 60mph speed on straight quality road I can keep it at 70mpg. Its not fun to drive like that, though. :)
Came around a corner and a large grass cutting crew was actually blowing grass clippings onto the road. I stopped, took pictures and called the police. They were cited
The rear fender on the sportster S is already shaped like a flat tracker. This bike is going to look amazing and Harley may have just found a way into my pocket. They almost did with the vrod, but the new Sportster S has alot of customizing potential ! Awesome vid guys🤘
