A turbo should perform better than this. After all, Hyundai's base 1.6 gets a better 0-60 time. With that said, this car(actually it was the 2.0T Sport that I drove) handles well and the seats and steering wheel feel awesome. It is a fun car to drive.
Just wanted to add that the source that says 1.6t was faster does admit that the 2.0t they tested may have had a malfunctioning turbo. So I have my doubts about above statement.
bradh716 where did you get that from? on cool days i get over 5.8 seconds 0-60 on warm days i go up to around 6.5 and hot days i get 7 but usually never that high i say my average is 6 but after it passes 60 itll beat a lotta V6 and V8s since this shit will drink gas like its coolant in a jeep lol either way from what i read their testers had intercooler issues or some crap. Some modded sonatas hit 4-4.5 seconds. which can technically almost beat a BMW M3
This must be the 2.0 T Limited, not sure, but mine is the 2015 2.0T Sport and the inside is totally different. I live in the US so I noticed this one has a right side steering wheel and mine is on the left which doesn't really matter. Mine has the paddle shift behind the steering wheel so it can be switched between an automatic and standard shift. I don't know if this one has the three options of putting it in city, normal, or sport mode like mine, but that makes a difference in the get up and go. I do not time it, but you can tell the difference immediately when you put it in sport mode. I agree it is a fun car and the ride is pretty smooth.
Fykon That’s not a turbo. The turbo comes with quad exhaust and it sounds identical to my 2015 Sonata 2.4, my grandmother has a Kia Optima turbo (same car) and it sounds a lot different.
They say the acceleration is not good enough...try to challenge this car at long drive and see who will win it's a DOHC 😎..... but for me 7.8sec is enough to beat a honda civic...what do you expect guyss? It's not a sports car!!
I live in the middle west USA. St Louis Missouri to be more precise. You know, the city with the gigantic arch. Anyway, a year ago a group of thieves went out in the night and stole a bunch of wheels off the top end Sonatas, Santa Fe's and Velosters. I mean they left the cars on blocks, haha. Several Hyundai dealers were hit in one night across the metro area. I mention this for a good reason. And that is.... when the crooks start stealing your wheels, you are officially cool and desireable...lol
Do you not have the different driving modes over there? If I floor my 2017 Sonata 2.0T on Sport mode vs Normal/Eco modes then it makes a difference in acceleration.
+sead garanovic I agree, although 248 hp "should" be enough to wake up a car of this weight, especially with the 6 Speed Auto (lower 1st gearing, closer ratios, etc). The 275 hp would've been better. I had an '87 Camaro IROC-Z with (OUCH!) 170 hp 5.0 V8 & 4 Speed Auto. It was still quicker on take-off. A 5.7 350 V8 Option would have yielded 225 hp- now THAT was a fast car! Go figure???
sead garanovic you can hit 265hp technically if you use 93 or 95 octane. its well worth it i did see increase time and torque but from what ive read itll increase 10hp or about 5% at most.
The specs are different across the globe. In USA the turbo has quad exhaust. Although the '18 Sonata turbo just has dual pipes...not split. And the Limited no longer has dual exhaust either.

ModernTechGuy You’re absolutely right, it’s not a 2.0t. I have a 2015 Sonata 2.4 and that engine sounds identical to mine. My grandmother has a Kia Optima turbo (same car) and it sounds a lot different.
Why do Euro Spec ones get cool wheels like this car? The only thing I don't care about the US Spec cars is, the wheels are ALL blah!!! They could've come up with a better design, especially on the Sport and 2.0T versions.
java loots Yeah you’re totally right. I have a 2015 Sonata 2.4 and the engine sounds identical to mine. My grandmother has a Kia Optima turbo (same car) and it sounds a lot different.
I guess that's what they think people want. I've heard of people saying the commodore ss is muted but there's one in my street and I can easily hear it going past...love that sound
Not driving hard or anything, but still makes a great sound (maybe aftermarket exhaust?) It's a new VF, only noticed it like a month ago, doubt it has any mods
Wow my 2014 nissan pulsar sss turbo with manual transmission with 140 kw engine power and 240 nm of torque gets 7.3 seconds from 0 to 100.....while this hyundai has 180 kw engine power and 350 nm of torque and its also automatic with a turbo which makes it slower than my car? Wow disapointing....it should be way faster than my car lol talk about down tuning...what a waste of power really it should be hitting around 6.7 or 6.5 somewhere around that mark....maybe due to the cars weight I dont know but it should be hitting as mentioned above.
Dr Bullet True, But you car does only weigh 1307kg vs this 1645kg. What's funny is that even a Regular 2.0L in the i30 SR gets 7.4 Seconds, but again, it's also lighter. Still pretty average for 180kw/350nm, but it's also on the faster side in the class at least.
Henry Toussaint yeah I figured it would be heavier than my car cause its a sedan, compared to my car which is a hatchback, that explains it then...power to weight ratio like the other guy said :)
not trying to talk shit but those rims look ugly as shit. look like prius wheels, the ones on the USA version are much much better and feel more "sporty" those look like pos hybrid wheels lmao

The EU version has front sensors? What is the function of these sensors? The US version only has parking assists sensors in the rear bumper
I feel like hyundai needs to work on the exhaust sound especially for the turbos
Fykon That’s not a turbo. The turbo comes with quad exhaust and it sounds identical to my 2015 Sonata 2.4, my grandmother has a Kia Optima turbo (same car) and it sounds a lot different.
Wow, seeing the interior backwards is weird AF.
🇺🇸🤡
@@MrSupaah I’d rather live in Canada or Europe ngl.
@@Anonymous-ji4sb Yeah cause America is a shithole
Have a 2013 Honda Accord. I’m thinking about getting a 2015 Hyundai Sonata limited. How reliable are they don’t know to much about Hyundai’s.
They say the acceleration is not good enough...try to challenge this car at long drive and see who will win it's a DOHC 😎..... but for me 7.8sec is enough to beat a honda civic...what do you expect guyss? It's not a sports car!!

Lakeside Blue is sharp!, nice looking car, so much nicer then 14 awful interior yes it may have been faster but it was cheap compared to 15.
Do you not have the different driving modes over there? If I floor my 2017 Sonata 2.0T on Sport mode vs Normal/Eco modes then it makes a difference in acceleration.
I've seen videos with 6.8 seconds... Hyundai should of kept the 278hp tune rather than the 248hp crap.

strange..they dont offer the quad tip exhausts there?
Kevin Cho y thats what im saying its not like it adds power but it does attract looks less gay
That's not the 2.0T. It would have quad exhaust tips and a different steering wheel and gauges. I should know because I have one. LoL!
Hexen302 It is the 2.0L Turbo, but this is the Australian specification, so we don't get the quad exhausts here.
The specs are different across the globe. In USA the turbo has quad exhaust. Although the '18 Sonata turbo just has dual pipes...not split. And the Limited no longer has dual exhaust either.

Helen Morgan This is the Premium model, we don't have the Sport or the limited here in Aus. Yes it has std, eco and sport modes.

they don't sell these in Europe
that's the 2.4l sonata the turbo comes with quad tips
java loots Yeah you’re totally right. I have a 2015 Sonata 2.4 and the engine sounds identical to mine. My grandmother has a Kia Optima turbo (same car) and it sounds a lot different.
necro post - it is the 2.0 Turbo - see the badge. In Australia we didn't get quad tips.
Weird... My 2.0T 2017 Sonata Sport shift differently
Previous sonata 278hp faster than this next generation . Why ???
The 60-100 isn't bad, but from a stop it's pretty slow... 7.8 is slower than a Mazda 6..
What do you expect??!!... it's not a sports car
sonata best car
Thing sounds like my Cavalier when it starts up.. Then again that shot was taken from behind the car.. Can't even hear it when you're in it.
Why do most modern cars feel so muted? There's no feel anymore.
I guess that's what they think people want.
I've heard of people saying the commodore ss is muted but there's one in my street and I can easily hear it going past...love that sound

+chipchip Try a Mazda 6. Not a lot of power, but you hear and feel every last bit.
This is not the 2.0T your seats and tail pipes give it away
1:39 suena como un Ferrari
this is not at all accurate and this car performs a lot better than what you showed in this video.
+AminASTRIxXx It must be a higher altitude where PD tested it.. ? I've seen them get like 6.5 - 7 seconds to 100km/h

A very simple answer, its called Power to weight ratio
Henry Toussaint yeah I figured it would be heavier than my car cause its a sedan, compared to my car which is a hatchback, that explains it then...power to weight ratio like the other guy said :)
Too quiet for my taste!
