The sheer audacity of them to nerf this thing when it already struggled enough... I feel like the developers played one 8.3 game as a T55 AM1 and got dusted by a Mk 3 or 5 Cheiftain and made this change out of spite to us Britain players. Seriously It makes no sense for a 120 mm L11 Royal Ordnance Canon to have such poor penetration values and not to mention awful fragmentation effects. Not to mention the Mk 5 is for some imaginary reason at 8.7 while you can have a dm 23 leopard, Tam 2 IP, T62 M1, or anything else that's way way better than it. Utterly pathetic.

@@CatWithAOpinion Only completely stock tanks at 7.7 and below struggle to penetrate the chieftain frontally and even then their mobility is usually good enough to flank it effectively. Honestly I was okay with the mk 3 being at 8.3 (the mk 5 also should have been 8.3) but with a nerf to the only thing which made it good, it's just a useless tank now. The fact that you can have a t55 AM 1 with better mobility, better armor, better firepower, better versatility, and almost as good of a reload means this thing will never ever get played. Irl the chieftain was state of the art for firepower and armor. It was after all meant to engage tanks like the t10, t55 and t62 which it outranged and could easily punch through. Gaijin just pure hates the brits...i have both mark 3 n 5,but i never really play with them, but now its sayonara pal....ist just terrible to play with the brits
Britain is all about patience, accurate shot placement, and knowing how to use a rangefinder. At 8.0 right now and I really struggled at first from 6.0 to 8.0. They aren't friendly to new players - though I do think the first chieftain is over tiered now with both of them at 8.3. Honestly both should be 8.3. Either way, it takes a few matches coming from USA to Britian every time I play to get into a rhythm. They're great at disabling enemies, extremely accurate at longer ranges - even without a range finder. Learning to judge distance is the hardest part of them.
i'd be fine with disabling but they are so god damn inconsistent with what they can and cannot do in game. you get games where you are just slaughtering penning everything you see and then the next you can't do anything to the enemies hitting the same spots with your sabot. sometimes you bounce shots that kill you the next second its mainly just inconsistency for me if they were more consistent with what they can do it would make playing them easier but gaijin has never been one for consistency.
Just like us 7.0 to 8.0 I bounced a 400mm pen round off a weasel yesterday gg bombs next to a target does squat but damage tracks 1000lbs bombs don't need to be on top of the tank irl
But have you tried shooting at the Chinese "Object 122"? Tried it today and none pen at 1.5km to the front. Yeah it's not bad "at close ranges" but from >1 km, this tank now performs less than the vickers mk. 1 with a 105 mm cannon (384mm pen apds) at 7.3 BR.
@@jasonzhou5783 but the chieftain has never and I mean never struggled to fight a T-55 AM, let alone an obj 122. The chieftain was regarded as the most modern tank of its era. The brit line also suffers now from the ongoing APDS "butcher" since APDS are not functioning at all. Oh and you said flat pen right? Just yesterday I shot a T-72 in the engine from 10m behind him, the APDS round got shattered twice by a piece of metal.
@@dogeler249 Except you act like it struggles with the T55AM now, when it doesn't. The current chieftain apds can still frontally ufp pen a T55AM at 2 km. Same for proj 122. In any case, that's a deflection. Your original argument was that chieftain gun was now worse than vicker mk 1. Your argument proves nothing of the kind. Also, I wouldn't consider it the most modern tank of it's era, considering it entered service a few years after the T64.
The tank does have a .50 cal coax mount but it binds to a different firing key and shoots in short 4 round bursts. Also, I it shoots adjustment incendiary rounds that have 7mm of pen point blank so the performance is really bad. Like the rest of the tank.
M58 vs L11 power levels reality when you dig into it. T104 shot had roughly 500mm of flat pen {very high 400's which is where the number can be seen to pull from}. Goopjin still scuffed the Chieftain's penetration with their mystical "I make it the fuck up" dEmARrE ✨spreadsheet✨
I've been using this thing post update and before and honestly it feels like the damage has been massively upgraded compared to before. Plus I haven't noticed that I'm bouncing/penning any more than before either so overall I'd say this has been buffed. As for the Challys it feels like the shrapnel has been buffed on the l27 too
@Justinplays, for the «Ranging machine gun» .50 Cal is «a second weapon/special weapon», just like the MAUS with the 75mm. Vicker MBT mk1 a have the same Issue
at medium to long range besh is viable for enemies sitting a little behind cover. The shell bonks the enemy on the turret and can hurt them, maybe even kill them.
You know gaijin has fked up when the conqueror uses essentially the same gun as the Cheiftains seeing as its a precursor to the Cheiftains... yet the Cheiftain has wayyyy less pen I'm sure the mod decided a less powerful gun was a great upgrade...
The L1 is the British model of the M58, which Gaijin flopped on T104 shot flat pen... L11 is less powerful, but what guyjoob did to L15A3 shot is a bit of a joke considering the penetration is over 300 from point blank to max effective range. Mix and match 90mm M3 shot tomfoolery at play all over again. The L1 uses long brass case charge two-piece ammo The L11 uses short disintegrating bag charge two-piece ammo The L1 is trained to load at about 14 seconds a cycle {over 10 seconds expected} The L11 is loaded about twice as fast from ready {7-8 seconds expected on hand early} -the smaller pieces mean you can packrat like a stereotypical Brit even harder The L1 is sigmas of deviation more powerful than the L11 The L11 wears less on a shorter tube {five calibers less vs sixty} There is a technology age gap between the two to consider though... L11 is technically a downgrade, considering the details.
lmfao, also, yes the MOD would do something that retarded. They demanded the L60 as well, lol. No Rolls diesel or AVDS for you. "It takes the winch onto the trailer or it gets the hose again." -MOD, probably
Lower the pen I been playing 7.7 British it’s bad well for me at least since I need 3 shells or more to kill some tanks on sides or front since the shells shatters 😂 😅 it’s sad so is it going down 8.0 now
Solely because Gaijin is xenophobic towards Britain. All of our stuff is 2-3x the price than the export variants in other countries like Israel and Sweden which can be better. The aircraft are subsonic at 9.7+ and still cost 2-3x times of other nations’ supersonic fighters. They handicap us everywhere for seemingly 0 reason and it never gets talked about.
"If this was the real world, the engine would've pop" The Chiefy used by the BAOR in West Germany literally couldn't travel far from their base without having its Leyland L60 engine or its transmission broke down LMAO. If it wasn't for the fact that the tank was designed with modularly swappable engine that enables the tank to drive again with swapped-out engine after an hour of the tank broke down, performance of this tank could be even worse. Funny thing is, the Chieftain's engine is literally the same one you'd found in the Vickers Mk1 MBT and with the Vickers Mk1, that thing is maneuverable and agile AF compared to the Chieftain lol
Sucks they felt the need to nerf a vehicle that has been known to be a suffering machine, not that it performs extremely bad but damn, this is one of those vehicles that should have been left as is, they can't make it better but nerfing it doesn't help.
They didn't nerf it because they felt like it. APDS ammunition was adjusted across the board and the round just lost some of it's 0-59° penetration. The 60° and beyond penetration is the same or better than before.

please make a vid on the comet. went from 5.0 to 5.3 to 5.7 then had its reload increased to nearly 10 seconds and now its just had its best round nerfed so it cant Penn the front of a panther. used to be my favorite tank, but for some reason it got nerfed into oblivion, wasnt even great to begin with
because if it pens german tanks, it needs to get nerfed and moved up.
@@shronkler1994 cant be having that haha
Justin has quite the HESH fetish. Everytime he plays a vehicle with HESH, he aways says how bad he wants to BESH something 😂
they have really good engine sounds
You either need ot keybind the .50 or manually switch to it. I think all of us forgot about using it when HESH became a literal trash-can being tossed at a brick wall.
Lmao I know the guy in the Saab that came up to you in the start of the vid
Intro took me by suprise lol
There is a light tank here.. I can hear him... turns out to be a MAUS... the exact Opposite of anything light.
Wait until you see what they did to the comet
11:57 *instantly dies and needs to drive all the way back*
Just like us 7.0 to 8.0 I bounced a 400mm pen round off a weasel yesterday gg bombs next to a target does squat but damage tracks 1000lbs bombs don't need to be on top of the tank irl
Great I just got to the cheftens and now I can't use them
But have you tried shooting at the Chinese "Object 122"? Tried it today and none pen at 1.5km to the front. Yeah it's not bad "at close ranges" but from >1 km, this tank now performs less than the vickers mk. 1 with a 105 mm cannon (384mm pen apds) at 7.3 BR.
It only has worse flat pen. Chieftain can ufp pen a t10m, vickers mk 1 cant.
@@jasonzhou5783 Vickers MK1 is also 7.7 and not 8.3.
How does the conqueror have 500mm pen at 7.7 but the chieftains have 300mm at 8.3/8.7?
M58 vs L11 power levels reality when you dig into it. T104 shot had roughly 500mm of flat pen {very high 400's which is where the number can be seen to pull from}. Goopjin still scuffed the Chieftain's penetration with their mystical "I make it the fuck up" dEmARrE ✨spreadsheet✨
I've been using this thing post update and before and honestly it feels like the damage has been massively upgraded compared to before. Plus I haven't noticed that I'm bouncing/penning any more than before either so overall I'd say this has been buffed. As for the Challys it feels like the shrapnel has been buffed on the l27 too
I felt that as well, was weird as british APDS does not like to spall
@@JustinPlaysTV indeed, a nice change seeing as I've had this thing for probably 3 years now!
@Justinplays, for the «Ranging machine gun» .50 Cal is «a second weapon/special weapon», just like the MAUS with the 75mm. Vicker MBT mk1 a have the same Issue
The.50 is classed as a secondary canon or similar.
Right. It's for ranging the HESH round and has basically no penetration power.
at medium to long range besh is viable for enemies sitting a little behind cover.
The shell bonks the enemy on the turret and can hurt them, maybe even kill them.
in most warthunder maps ... youu wont see a tank further than 500 meters
The L1 uses long brass case charge two-piece ammo
The L11 uses short disintegrating bag charge two-piece ammo
The L1 is trained to load at about 14 seconds a cycle {over 10 seconds expected}
The L11 is loaded about twice as fast from ready {7-8 seconds expected on hand early}
-the smaller pieces mean you can packrat like a stereotypical Brit even harder
The L1 is sigmas of deviation more powerful than the L11
The L11 wears less on a shorter tube {five calibers less vs sixty}
There is a technology age gap between the two to consider though...
L11 is technically a downgrade, considering the details.
lmfao, also, yes the MOD would do something that retarded. They demanded the L60 as well, lol. No Rolls diesel or AVDS for you.
"It takes the winch onto the trailer or it gets the hose again."
-MOD, probably
The fact that this can face T64bv's...
that intro lmfao
i just had to say hi lol
i just finished using the chieftains to get the chally and i LOVED playing them they were amazing, got my first nuke in them
I'm really glad I started sticking to under Tier 4
Lower the pen I been playing 7.7 British it’s bad well for me at least since I need 3 shells or more to kill some tanks on sides or front since the shells shatters 😂 😅 it’s sad so is it going down 8.0 now
Solely because Gaijin is xenophobic towards Britain. All of our stuff is 2-3x the price than the export variants in other countries like Israel and Sweden which can be better. The aircraft are subsonic at 9.7+ and still cost 2-3x times of other nations’ supersonic fighters.
They handicap us everywhere for seemingly 0 reason and it never gets talked about.
ranging gun is set to secondary fire
and honestly, this nerf might keep me from grinding British ground further for a while
Just grind out the Rooikats and then use them to grind out the Chally 1
Well this sucks cause that’s literally My main vehicle and i know i get bs bounces alot and that’s certainly not going to help
They will probably nerf it again if they want it to be realistic cuz irl the round it fired was around 288 mm of pen
Thats the best intro ever
I'm new to your channel love the content but um do you do subscriber requests for vehicles?
On occasion xP
Take a shot every time justin says 'In truth' :P
May want to keep 911 on speed dial.
Now the Crazy Horse is stronger than the Chieftain MK. 3 in game .
This is the end of my grind for the british tree
I hope they buff this thing instead
the cent mk 3 has the best gun and round now with 383mm base pen at 7.3
Chieftain mk3 - 8.0
Chieftain mk5 - 8.3
Chieftain mk10 - 8.7
You could make the argument that the Mk.5 could also be 8.0
With new BRs it should be chieftain mk3/5 8.3 and chieftain mk10 9.0
Cheiftain slaps even after the nerf IMO, but I’m a Brit main so IG it’s that
Wait. They nerfed the Type 89 AGAIN? Man, it just cannot catch a break. That’s like what, the 7th nerf for just the Type 89?
"If this was the real world, the engine would've pop"
The Chiefy used by the BAOR in West Germany literally couldn't travel far from their base without having its Leyland L60 engine or its transmission broke down LMAO. If it wasn't for the fact that the tank was designed with modularly swappable engine that enables the tank to drive again with swapped-out engine after an hour of the tank broke down, performance of this tank could be even worse.
Funny thing is, the Chieftain's engine is literally the same one you'd found in the Vickers Mk1 MBT and with the Vickers Mk1, that thing is maneuverable and agile AF compared to the Chieftain lol
we love you to man ;'D
Wooosh is at it again lmfao
God DAMNIT.
The Mk.3 Is my- no, WAS - my fave GRB and SIM tank for the Brits.
It does still have it's .50, you just have to fire it as a secondary weapon rather than an MG.
Ranging .50 cal is a secondary weapon for some reason
If the Chieftains don't finally get lowered in BR then Gaijin is full of shit in regards to (player statistics)
Why did gaijin did this to my boy
Please reupload this video without the HESH comment... Every time there is a mention of something British being decent it gets ghost nerfed.
I've been researching britain for years. at 7.3 now, looking forward to the Chieftain, it's my goal.
The challys are a lot more fun tbh.. with this nerf, you will suffer
@@ericpeterson541 Not interested in top tier.
@@ericpeterson541 Well i've had the Chieftain for months now and I love it! Russian tanks just explode when i look at them.
@@Litany_of_Fury that’s awesome! Working on unlocking the Chally 3TD rn. What’s next for you?
@@ericpeterson541 I suppose the first Challenger. Though i'm not in any rush to get it.
War thunder making bad choices in 2023???
Sucks they felt the need to nerf a vehicle that has been known to be a suffering machine, not that it performs extremely bad but damn, this is one of those vehicles that should have been left as is, they can't make it better but nerfing it doesn't help.
They didn't nerf it because they felt like it. APDS ammunition was adjusted across the board and the round just lost some of it's 0-59° penetration. The 60° and beyond penetration is the same or better than before.
Crazy how the mk 5 is the same BR as the of 40 mk2 mtca and the tam 2ip, gaijin realy does hate britain
Gaijin literally hates Britain man... what did we do to them
justin new t72m1 for germany pls
Hope the HESH got buffed cuz I just got the Doom barn 😂😂
no point in using the apds up close. this br has a lot of light tanks. BESH is best.
"client stability fixes" = nerfs
