The Pokemon card stuff has gotten out of hand. Not to even mention the artificial scarcity of grades set by companies like PSA Grading, the price inflation being based on "previous sales" is absurd. They can just put their pack from 2015 on ebay, list a price, and slowly buy them at a high price from a sock puppet account so the "previously sold for" number is higher. Sure, those card packs could have high value "chase cards", but it'll basically never be worth it to buy older card packs. Imagine purchasing a pack of 10 cards for 100-300 dollars and getting cards worth about 4 to 10 dollars. Its essentially just expensive scratch card gambling.
From the perspective of someone that just plays the game and has 3-4 decks lying around it's been really funny to watch "collectors" (aka. scalpers and the idiots that buy from them) go at each other's throats over Pokémon cards these last few years. Since every product gets opened like crazy because people want to put cardboard into plastic slabs it's been insanely cheap to buy playables for decks :)
