We don't get much fog in NYC either, and my single best day of shooting last year was during a deep fog last October. There was peak autumn foliage, with just enough light to create beautiful backlighting. I also hope to do more traveling and just get out more. Enjoy 2023!
Thanks, Mike for all the videos you have created! Your talent and artistic vision is so inspiring to me - I am always anxious to see one of your videos come out! Recently you made one about the Benro gear head and I bought one!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Thanks again and looking forward to your 2023 videos! Hope you and Chris have a very happy new year!!
Disagree with #2, I really like this one a lot😂Very simple and minimalistic. Even the horizon dead in the center works. The PNW looks so amazing 😱Maybe we should plan a trip there too? 😂
Thank you for sharing your critiques of your own pictures. It is important to learn the early signs of the traps we fall into. I suspect many of us started off struggling to get good starbursts. Then when we figured out the right settings we developed tunnel vision where every picture has to have a starburst. I know I did that with moon shoots. I agree with you that restraint is critical.
I am like you. I find that sometimes I am not satisfied with some images that I originally though were pure genius. I like that some people will look at my photos and say really nice things, and give me very polite comments, but inside I cringe. I know what good photography is, and I know when my stuff just isn't what it could be. Thanks for another great insight.
Happy new year 🎉 what a beautiful images , really stunning 🤩. And the worst are not so bad, but when you see your mistakes and know where to improve that is what makes you better photographer and lets you grow and move forward 🌿 Great video and keep up with what ever makes you feel good to photographing 🎈
That was a fun way to review your year with you and I enjoyed hearing your critique and various perspectives on each image. The joy and challenge of photography is that it is a craft where we are constantly learning and improving and have endless opportunities as the subjects keep changing. One thing I am getting better at is enjoying compliments from my non-photographer friends even if I know what could be improved from a technical standpoint! Happy New Year and I will continue to follow your adventures for sure!
Great video. It takes some courage to show your "worst" photos. I'm not sure I agree with your top five. You have some great photos from the swamp and from around Sedona I think are better. Come to western New Mexico this fall for some great elk pictures. During the rut, I see elk nearly every morning on my way to work, (when I have no time to stop. 🙄) I think I got a total of five images this year worth talking about. Happy New Year to you and Chris.
Your best are fantastic, and your number one is a number one, hands down. What makes a great picture in my book is two things: 1) you transform the common into the uncommon by seeing different perspectives or taking advantage of unique conditions and 2) you transport the viewer to the place where they feel they were there. However, the one thing that makes it most valuable is being passionate about the subject and creating memories. And when I mean memories it is not just the trip but also how you felt making art.
Thanks Lance! She has stepped away from being in the videos. Just not something she has a passion for anymore. She’s a full time video editor for a group of larger RUclipsrs and absolutely loves it!
Great summary of your 2022 efforts! You are somewhat predictable though… :-) I knew your fog in the Superstitions would be #1. As well it should be.. I appreciate your videos because they are straight forward, down to earth and just about photography.
The ability to do this sort of self critique means you're developing and improving as an artist. At least that's what I keep trying to convince myself. 😉

Lets do it! Hoh Rainforest is calling our name!
YES, and pop up to Vancouver Island while you're at it!

Thanks man! Definitely easy to fall into comfortable traps.

Thanks for watching! And yes that just means there is always room for improvement. And I love a challenge!
@@PereaPhotography So true! Challenges are what make us better at photography.

Thanks Richard! Yeah New Mexico is definitely a place I want to return to for the elk rut. Such an amazing time of year over there!
Great review, great learning experience and I love your attitude.

Perfectly said!
Hope to see you in Patagonia. I'll be there in April as well.
Nice! Yes definitely come say hi if you see us out there 👊🏼
Good video, mostly agree with your choices and reasons. Where has Chris been in recent videos?

@@PereaPhotography Awesome. Look forward to your 2023 adventures
The top 5 images are great, personally I like No.4, that green moss just pops, but really there all great 👍😎
Thanks Dave! Happy new year buddy!
@@PereaPhotography I was so excited about the 2023 photography season I didn't wish you and Chris a Happy New Year, so Happy New Year 👍😎
I’d love to see this, but other photographers critiquing what you thought your best ones were.
