I think the only person that you didn't mention is Lil Bill, who I just discovered this year. He's similar to FD Signifier in that he primarily makes political and cultural commentary videos with some media thrown in there, but he's had some good stuff to say on hip hop as well
Justin Hunt, Derapy, [deleted], (and prof skye) are all channels i found during 2024 (also a whole bunch of reactors that i still follow, but that's less about the critique). Also, JK D Animator has done some hilarious animations this year, so i'm now hooked there too
If it weren't for this wave, I wouldn't have discovered You, FD Signifier, Justin, and many more! This made me appreciate the artform more than I already did. It even made me dive deeper into my own country's (Algeria) Hip Hop space and archives.
Been a fan of Fantano for many years, and also became a big fan of FD and Shawn Cee in the last few years but you, company man, Derapy, etc are some favorites I’ve picked up this year. Also Path and Hivemind are other great music channels I’ve started following in the last year or two

Personally i used my interest in the Drake Kendrick beef to reflect on myself and make sure i was taking in coverage from guests and people deeper in the culture. Finally subscribed to FD's patreon after loving his stuff for so long. Watching more Toure and Rap Latte, Company Man, Curtiss King, the list keeps going. Its been so refreshing to find great new voices that are talking about the music in a way that digs deeper than just talking about the numbers going up.
The hip hop space, especially on RUclips, has really come into its own this year. I think with all the beefs happening this year, it forced a lot of conversation that doesn't happen as much, if at all. This year forced people to think more critically about the music they consume, and thats a great thing.
I love this video, I discovered Absa thanks to you. I love Wayno as well 🖤 I also love the podcast Thought Crimez, their theories are always crazy, for example, their peekaboo theory is absolutely wild, I think this theory is on one of their saved lives on their channel. I came here to suggest That Dope Sh*t and was absolutely shocked that you already shouted him out. Real recognizing real. Guess I'll name Myke C-Town instead. He doesn't talk about hip-hop nearly as much now that he's left DEHH, but he's been doing a Rap Up video every month or so where he highlights recent underground releases he liked.
avaa! would definitely recommend having a scroll at least through the thumbnails of the channel 'the 36th chamber.' A really impressive review catalogue
One of the larger media platforms like pigeons and planes, revolt or, complex needs to reach out to these people to have actual engaging content in hip hop media again and have reviewers that reflect how people actually feel not how well it’s going to sell because their content is great but the main draw back in these creators are aesthetic like editing and technical issues
Biggest 'Win' imo is people in general are starting to listen to the words in rap. Rappers are beginning to realize they gotta 'Bar Up', level up that skill set. Vibes is fine, but it can't just be that.
