    Part of the reason people haven't talked about JDs size is that those size concerns were largely overblown and there are successful QBs of the same size or smaller, e.g., Kirk Cousins, and he's far bigger than Emmanuel Forbes (who I am really concerned about). I think the pressure to sack ratio is just that: data. It doesn't give the "why" of a sack. Was it the OL,? was it the lack of a hot routes in LSUs offensive scheme? Did the QB hold the ball too long, etc.

    First, consider the volume Daniels ran the ball. Since 2019 (which is as far back as TruMedia’s data goes for FBS players), no quarterback has scrambled more times than Daniels did in college; his 258 career scrambles not only sit firmly at the top, it sits in its own stratosphere. Only one other quarterback had more than 200 scrambles since 2019 and the player who ranks third, 2023 Cleveland Browns draft pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson, finished with 167 scrambles in his career, nearly 100 fewer than Daniels. Gibson had injury issues as well as ball security problems in his seasons in DC. Did Ron use him properly overall, especially early on? No. But that doesn't mean at 26 he was a 'must have' player the team needed to retain. Austin Ekeler is a far more proven commodity for Daniels to depend upon and is a much better pass protector than Gibson.

    All I know is, Maye is starting to look good according to patriots media. All that crap about getting the pro ready guy better mean something. Jayden Daniels has Average Arm. High scramble rate. Low throw on the move rate. If he sucks, it was clear in the data.

      And reports are Caleb was struggling in OTA's, so essentially all of this early gossip about how the rookie QB's look means nothing! And, go be a Patriots fan then, it's really that simple, bc otherwise this talk of Maye is silly as we drafted the QB they liked best and most knowledgeable football folks rated JD the better QB.....some even had him as the best QB in this draft

    • @ronniethomas8780
      @ronniethomas8780 4 месяца назад

      @whambam21 I disagree that there is so much data telling us it won't work, the ppl who do this for a living have not said any such thing! If you're referring to analytics, then you go right ahead and use that as you're Bible, but I won't, and tbh it seems your more interested in being proven right that you didn't he would work out as opposed to elevating what your eyes tell you, not data that can be skewed by several factors. At first it was his weight, now it's data about pressure-to-sack ratios from out of left field that's being posited as red flags. I'm not mad that analytics is your go to from information, but it ain't for me and there was a time there weren't analytics and scouts/gm's/analysts went with what their eyes showed them and what work ethic told them as a means to get your guy and there were no problems. Stop looking for a boogeyman LOL

    • @whambam21
      @whambam21 4 месяца назад

      @@ronniethomas8780 analytics isn’t the go to man jeez. It’s the combination of all facets. Combining them all his profile is nothing close to top 10 QBs. High scramble rate + not throwing on the move + sack % + middle of the field % + 5th year senior before even reaching 20 TDs. My eyes told me some of this and the analytics made it even worse. It’s not looking for the boogeyman it’s saying “is this the profile of a top 10 qb” imagine if Josh Allen never threw on the run or didn’t have great arm strength. Imagine if cj stroud didn’t look elite as a red shirt freshman and didn’t have a crazy high big time throw rate. Imagine if Jordan love or Herbert couldn’t make special throws on the regular. Imagine if mahomes couldn’t shake out of sacks. All of this makes them special QBs. You can’t say things about the best QBs that you can say about JD. That’s facts not the boogeyman. Idgaf if I’m right, I care about my team and I’m terrified we took a fools gold qb that’s closer to tyrod Taylor than he is Lamar.

    • @ronniethomas8780
      @ronniethomas8780 4 месяца назад

      @whambam21 you say analytics arent everything, then proceed to jump right into them. We dont know what LSU asked Jayden to do offensively, so this idea that he disnt throw the ball to the middle of the field enough, or that he took too many sacks for you can attributable to LSU, there is no evidence to suggest otherwise is there? Sorry, but as some one whose played the position and the game at a high enough level I'll go with my own instincts, and what my eyes tell me, coupled with what some of the games brightest minds have said about his readiness to compete right away and has the ability to he a star. He's gotten better every year, which is what you want from a QB, no this idea that arm talent is a starting point to being legit. I'm choosing to be optimistic about Daniels, not a cynic, so you do you bro and well see what's what when the season starts ✌️

    I don't agree on Cam Robinson. Picking him up if he is cut doesn't mean the team has given up on Brandon Coleman or that Lucas needs to be cut. The fact remains that Robinson was on the field for almost 600 snaps in 2023 and is only 29. If Coleman needs more time to develop so be it. Also, the team still needs a swing tackle and Lucas would fill that role as he did the past couple of years, unless 'Locked on Commanders' believes that Trent Scott or Braeden Daniels is going to morph into a dependable/serviceable spot starter.
