    For best results I personally use a mini actually IN a stereo rig.. just on one side of it, dry off, effect all the way up and adjust tightness to the feel you want 🤷🏻‍♂️
    Pretty much the same exact thing the original does on its 1 dub setting 👌🏼🤩

  • @MattKeenanMusic
    @MattKeenanMusic 3 года назад +56

    On the point of it being mono, couldn't you put it in the chain just before one of the two amps and turn down the dry, to give it a proper doubling effect rather than the mono effect to one/two amps?

    • @S1MN05
      @S1MN05 3 года назад +4

      Yeah. Just put it in front of one of your two amps, kill the dry on the pedal, and get the same effect as the full stereo, just without the the multiple dubs feature.

    I think is happening the SAME thing that happened to the Boss Metalizer, which had a stereo output at least, but nobody understand neither have an scenario in that moment to use the pedal on his real purpose. So, on my understanding, we people need to have a pedal withe stereo output (or a splitter), and send one amp with the Mini doubler, and the other amp without that effect. I do that at least in my Line6 X3 for all kind of automatic doubletracking process.

    Got the stereo version of this pedal and I love it, but any time that I’m in a situation with a mono set up or the FOH engineer mixes in mono, it basically just sounds like a phasey chorus pedal. I changed to amp modeling (HX Stomp) and got two Powercabs, and one major motivator for that was so that I could use the Mimiq as a stereo doubler, even if I’m playing with a mono PA- I can at least have that width on stage now. That being said, I think the mono version of this pedal is anything but a doubler unless you split the signal two ways before the Mimiq Mini, as others have been saying. I love my Mimiq but it’s frustrating how often it isn’t of help to me in a live setting, because it’s rare that FOH engineers will do a lot of panning due to phase issues and the audience needing to get the full experience.

    • @ElliotVernon
      @ElliotVernon 3 года назад +1

      The general rule in building an acoustically sound control room is to eliminate as many parallel surfaces as possible. This helps to stop weird dead zones in the room where reflected sounds meet each other and give strange phase cancellation effects. That's why you often see adjustable-angle floating ceilings in very high end studios, and strange titled walls in custom-built spaces. So in that respect, a sloped ceiling is a perfect starting point, so long as you can do something about the walls too!

    So I think this pedal actually sounds phenomenal and at first I was in love with it BUT... I don't see an actual use for it. I tried it live and to be honest I never felt like it did an actual difference. I'm guessing part of it is due to the fact that a venue IS a stereo effect. the sound bounces around and even mono things sound wide and stereo, so I felt like I was just making my rig more complicated. In studio... why not just actually double track? It'll sound better and it ain't actually that much longer to do. So, I'm gonna sell my pedal after a year with it.

Its this sort of deal but instead of having just a set delaytime, the delay sits around 20ms but goes faster and slower making it sound much more like an actual double track. The effekt/wet signal also goes sliiightly up/down in pithc when its faster/slower making it sound extremely natural, i use it alll the time for riffs, leads, even vocals when i want them to sound wide/double tracked!! Hey Rabea, I love your content and enjoy your playing. I absolute adore your new ambient stuff, and that made me think: maybe you could more often demo stuff in a more musical/band/song setting? I mean some of the sounds I enjoy most out of my gear is when I play alone, but sometimes that falls pretty flat in a band setting (at a minimum it always requires tweaking). Since you're pretty knowledgeable in both studio recording as well as live shredding, can maybe try and give examples how a pedal/amp/guitar/other gear sounds beyond solo noodling in the attic? (no critique, I noodle in the attic too XD) Just a wish list item! (English is not my first language, so please ignore the tone of any parts that might sound harsh/disrespectful, I don't mean it that way!) Keep up your great content!!

    hi rabea, probably this version could be the most unnecessary release of (IMO) one of the most amazing pedals in the recent years, im talking of course of the full stereo version. and lisent it live is f... amazing, you should check ken andrews rig rundown (the last one) where show some sounds with that stereo version

    most gigs are just a mono channel offered to the guitarist, so this is a cool option to beef up the tone.

    The Mini makes no sense to me as the main effect relies on creating a super wide effect which is only achieved in stereo. There’s also a LOT less phasing issues with the more expensive version (in stereo).

    Holy shit, it just came to me:
    if you just want to widen your sound with a second amp and already have any kind of stereo effect pedal (delay, reverb) you only need the mimiq mini. Just put it in your right path, kill the dry signal and bob‘s your mothers brother.
    I have never heard this anywhere, though I’m sure TC was aware of this. But they probably would’ve sold much less of the bigger version.
    Anyway, they are discounted everywhere, so I’m getting one.

    Is this any different than just running any analog delay with a really short slapback setting?
    Like does it do any DSP to mimic it being an actual second guitar?

    I'd rather use a slight bit of chorus to get a fatter sound (one guitar band here also). The stereo pedal makes all the more sense though if you have a stereo rig.

    I'll be the weirdo here. I actually prefer my mimiq in mono. In stereo it just sounds way too much like a phaser on my board. Would be awesome if you could lower the effect without causing a huge volume imbalance.

    Can't say I'm a fan of using this in a mono rig. In stereo, it's a great widener. In mono, it's a slightly metallic, dull chorus to my ears.
    I would assume you could still use the mini Mimiq in a stereo rig too - Just run it on one of the channels, and turn off the dry signal.

    Lol I think you used it incorrectly. You should split the signal before it, and add this pedal to just one of the chains to add delay. The big MIMIQ pedal simply has that splitter built in, and the delay circuit applies to one of the signals. By idea, using it like this shouldn't change the audible signal at all, only add some slight odd harmonics by the imperfect circuit. The difference should be only in the milliseconds of delay and overall inaudible.
