Carnivorous Sundew Catches Wasp!

- I was standing in my backyard when a wasp flew by. He headed directly into the worst possible fate - Straight into the clutches of a Southern Dewthread sundew. These plants are living flypaper. They stick to the insect with drops of glue and then digest their prey. You can see the sticky mess the wasp is in at the end of the video.
This wasp actually lived happily ever after. He struggled loose and finally flew away about an hour after this video was taken. Many other insects that you can see in the video were not as lucky.

Early signs of a video that is going to blow up
AWESOME CHOICE OF MUSIC... so ironic... i like carnivorous plants
There's just something so satisfying about this video!
as a person who despises wasps, i see this as an absolute win
Hello anyone watching this in 2021 and beyond
Carnivorous plants are gorgeous...I'd love to have a sundew plant or a venus fly trap someday. Or a cobra lily. Or hell, why not them all? XD
1:00 Wasp is dancing to that music! 🎶
"Silly bitch, your stinger cannot harm me. Don't you know who the fuck I am? I'm the sundew!"
This is about to blow up
Sweet tracyi, that things is huge! I didn't know they were so good at capturing prey. Great video.
RIP wasp. June 7 2010
For the wasp it's a sticky situation. People are buzzing about the video.
Wasp is hanging out with the wrong kind of plants!
Interesting and thank God these plants are not human size
That would be blackberry bushes. Plants with straight spines are built to repel, plants with hooked spines are designed to catch. Apparently farmers have a lot of trouble with sheep getting stuck in the bushes. In nature they'd become fertilizer. Or we would if we had a bit more fur. ;) And don't we like the berries it produces.
is the music called " flight of the honey bee "
lol who else read it as coronavirus at first?
Poor wasp. They're lovely little things. Hope my lot only have a taste for mosquitos
Epic gamer moment
Interesting choice to use "Flight of the Bumble Bee" as the choice of music, as the wasp desperately wants to fly away, but cannot.
"Why universe hate Waspinator?"
This helps! keep the insect population down 🤔
Once it’s wings are caught in the sticky goo it’s all over
would you risk it for a chocolate biscut mouse?
I didn't think a Sundew could catch something as large as a wasp!
Good thing, though, because wasps are bastards :D
@spanishxsword Thanks. :) i'll definitely look around.
Skill issue
I'm trying my luck at growing a couple of these from seed. I've never grown carnivorous plants before, and the and other sundews are said to be some of the easiest to grow. Wish me luck!
Butcher Butcher how’d it go?
we'll never know if he succeeded
I’m guessing they ate him
Coming back to this heh. I'm also tryna germinate some nep seeds so wish me good luck! If they germinate I'll come back
Same. I just got sprouts after 2 weeks. Had trouble finding the right spot for them but I think I've found it now (rip previous attempts, sorry pygmy ❤️😑 tried).
If you have like 5 pots of these standing in a cluster..
arı maya daki bili değil mi bu? xD
Can stand wasps, so this is especially satisfying for me!
@markdangerman Flight of the Bumble Bee
Pog

Thanks Treiyou. I appreciate your comments.
