After trying magic erasers heat, guns and even ultra mild sandpaper I found this video and tried your method and I must say I was astonished at how well this works! I had it easy because my interior is all black. I used the black crayon on some very mild scratches and even some fairly deep ones and they are all virtually impossible to tell that they even existed! 👏👍
This tip worked so well. I personally found smearing across the scratch rather than along its length, and working it steadily till it thinned out. I finished it off with some car plastic interior dress spray and it looks pretty damn good.
Waaaaay better! Will have to give this a try. I was about to grab my hairdryer, but the heat could mess up rhe pattern so this should help to alleviate some obvious scratches.
I actually didn't seal it with anything. This trim is not really high traffic anymore. However, some have suggested nail polish (if small area) or a clear spray top coat, mod podge spray, etc.
My father had an old Ford Fairmont 78 colored light blue, I was 10 and read a magazine with this trick for the external body color. I use a crayon off the same color and it helps to hide all those scratches
Grab a black or gray China pencil aka grease pencil. Hobby Lobby has 2 packs for 2.99 It’s what car makers use at factory/dealership to fill in/ hide scratches MAKE SURE you clean panel first with an interior cleaner or degreaser or it won’t stick. I hit it with aerospace 303 protectant after and so far haven’t ever rubbed off
Have someone put their bike inside your car and see what deep scratches erupt from that shit. Smh I can't believe anybody would have no problem scratching up someone's vehicle that they've only had for a couple of months and it looks worse than those scratches on that console. 35,000 car brand new and some jealous bastard thinks it's cute to ruin the interior in just a couple of months. I'm going to try this except my interior is gray so I'll try the grease pencil that someone recommended above that they have at hobby lobby.
I have tried this before...wait until you park your car on a day where its over 100-110 degrees outside and the cars interior temperatures get up to 130-----150...even 170+ degrees inside... that crayon will melt. Ask me how i know...lol.
I just bought a 2021 trd Tacoma. I’m a stickler for perfect 😂. This saved me $400 for a new panel. I found the more you rubbed it in the more it blended. Next I’ll the seal. Praying I don’t have to buy a new door panel.
This is a great idea if you want to work a lot to keep it ok for one day. High heat will ruin it. Also next time you clean your interior. This is a temporary fix. Good try though
If you "fix" it like this and next time you have to clean the interior of your car it will most likely wash away. I believe that the method with a hot gun and sanding does a much much better job. Not to mention that in the video at the end you can still see the scratches and that something is off, it's not seamless... I know that this comment isn't a positive one, but it's the truth, not hard feelings. :)
what's with the creepy voice. Notice when you he pop's off the air vent both AC duct vents were completed not damaged. Staging the video, makes it Unbelievable.
Actually yes. Apply heat for a permanent restoration. The crayon material will eventually detach from the plastic. You could try applying the crayon and then heating it up to fuse the crayon with the plastic. I've used a torch in super quick bursts to hide 90% of the scratches on these types of trims. I'ts not a 100% repair, but way better than just painting with a crayon.@@FixCarYourself
Actually I agree, and I have done that before. This video was meant to show a very simple way to restore a small piece of trim with the minimalist amount of effort. You could just leave a crayon in the car and use whenever, as opposed to a blow dryer which needs an outlet and a little bit more preparation. Now instead of a torch a blow dryer surprising is good enough to fuse the crayon into the plastic, and yes would be even more preferred then putting a crayon down.

Nice. Glad to hear and that it gets the job done economically, which I'm all about!

Actually the heat helps to work the crayon in better. Or you might be able to heat up the area and rub it back in even before using the crayon.
Amazing result, I couldn’t think of a more cost effective repair, thank you for sharing with us❤.
Glad to help.
Possibly use a shoe polish brush to buff the final time.
Interesting. I like it.
My brother used shoe polish on his bumpers and it came out great.
Wash the natural body oil off your hand with dish washing soap before hand. Increases adhesion.
Great tip!
After you used the crayon and rubbed it in what did you seal it in with and if someone rubs up on it will the crayon transfer to their clothes?

Nice. It's interesting others had this idea way back then and it was publicized.
They used it on the exterior paint? That's a good idea
Wow, I really wish I had of found it before I tried the heat gun method, which I mess up even more. This was awesome.
Glad it helped.

Where did you buy the protestant?
How long ago did you do it?
Interesting, I'll have to try that one day if the crayon molded into the plastic piece ever gets bad.
@@lovethyvibes7293 sorry just saw your comment. I’m in USA get it either Amazon or Autozone usually has it in the store.
@@roma8374 when I posted this comment. I saw it on old forum. Did it and wow it works amazing!

Ok. I hope it works out well for you.
Fixed it! Thank you so much!

What happens when the crayon melts on a hot day?
Brilliant
Tjanks!

So far it hasn't for me, and my car has gotten very hot.
Put a ceramic coating over it. Like interior detailer with ceramic protection. Ceramic will repel heat and seal it
Mine has never melted
Nice!
Nor has mine.
Now nobody arounds me have a crayon

I'll do this when im very old and cant see that it looks like crap.

mhm
Bro that whas great ideaaa
Glad you liked it
I will try this. Just a question, after doing this and if I decided to clean the car interior with wet towel will it fade?
it should, this doesn't seem like a long term solution, unless using some strong dressing on top.
Can you just spray paint it? thanks for video
You could, if you do a light brush and then rub it in fast or sand it in fast. Just make sure you get the factory paint.
Ye like the cut were you probably sprayed it this was like watching kids channel the way you presented it ha
😹😹😹
wow this worked great for me. thx
Awesome! Great to hear!

Agreed!
You can use a blow dryer as well to "bake" it in, and fine sanding also helps as well. This video was meant to show what to do in a quick pinch.
Well that's temporary. Once you use a wipe to clean the trim it will all get on the towel 😂
so far so good for me, but I'm guessing the heat baked it over time.
Why talk like that mate we're not kids tv
😹
un enorme cavolata , per la plastica del cruscoot cè poco da fare o quasi nulla ,,se non smontarlo e farlo stuccare e riverniciare
not sure what your saying.
I dont think you understand the definition of 'amazing'.
Here's the definition: causing great surprise or wonder; astonishing.

Not at all true. Watch it again, and you'll also notice I created a separate video showing how to repair the rear hvac.
Useless waste of time
Lol 😅😅😅😅😅 joke

Wow, amazing!
Looks like a piece of shit😊
It’s not gonna work, bro
Still works 💪 bro.
not good at all
You have a better idea other than replacing it?
