    I watched this video over a year ago, got inspired, bought a dragon fruit undatus (white inside), in a Chinese supermarket in Elmhurst New York, cleaned and planted many. They are now about the same size as the one's in your video, and I'm watching this again to say hi. Now I need to learn to make a video too. Thanks for posting this one!

      Fantastic :) Thank you for coming back. I think it's great that you've had success with growing some dragonfruit.. they are crazy plants and fun to grow. they seem to have a life of their own. I look forward to seeing some pictures some time :)

    your welcome :) yes they are so easy to sprout from seeds... i liked these ones a lot because not only did they sprout easily but they grow fast. most cactus seeds stay tiny for many years from seed.

    Thanks :) your right it is hard to find homes for these spikey plants... i'm surprised that your having a hard time finding homes for your agave though... they are such beautiful plants...

  • @vongcohuong
    @vongcohuong 11 лет назад

    that's what it grow out to be from only 3 cutting. you don't really need big space for it. just don't let it grow out of control from the bottom, when it reach to the top. then you can let a few more growth behind.

    LOL - you sound like me when you say "Not really prepared" U make me laugh. Things get put off (and I know what that's like.) Good that you finally rescued them and re-planted the seedlings. hehe.

    Love the update, they look so cute!! I have lots of cactus and often have to trim them back, I just have to toss the trimmings because its hard to find people that aren't terrified of them..lol. I am working on the overgrown Agave..I have so many and can only find 3 people that want some.

    Hi how are you? It's been a year since I added a message. I was eating some yellow extremely sweet dragon fruits and thought about the dragon fruit plant that you planted years ago. can you give me a little bit of an update on how it's doing? I just started growing mine the way you taught and came out very nice. Thank you in advance 😊

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  7 лет назад +2

      i'm so happy you started growing your own :) It's fun... they grow so fast for a cactus. as for an update.... i gave this plant away a few years ago... no more updates on this one.

  • @NMW80

    How is your dragon fruit going? Lol I was like nooo don’t put them in the compost. It’s a shame no one close by could take them for you. I get it though cos I too don’t have the room to grow every thing I want to grow. I have just germinated some dragon fruit seeds myself but they are still seeds but just starting to have the white roots coming out. So they are just starting to burst out of their seeds. I am germinating them in water and then will be transplanting them into soil soon as they have all sprouted.

      I gave the plants to an old friend a few years ago... haven't seen it since... :)

    Thank you for watching :) Sorry that i made you sad by adding them to my compost bin.. i wish i had the space to keep everything.. i also wish that i could just pop them into the mail and give them as gifts to my viewers but sadly the boarder police would not like that so much..lol maybe in the spring, summer and fall i will ship some plants out to some canadian viewers :)

  • @PlantzNThings
    @PlantzNThings  11 лет назад

    My long term goal Mark is to get a bigger house...lol.. i'll need it..lol.. growing a banyan tree inside and the giant coastal redwood inside as well. maybe i will buy a bigger saw :) so i can chop their heads off when they get too tall..lol. but with the dragon fruit i might toss it in the compost when it gets too big... it's more of a fun project

    It's too bad I'm just now finding this video. I'd be glad to take any extras you can spare! I don't know if you're still growing some or not, but I think it would be fun to have at least 1 or two to try.

  • @smartbet

    What's your long term goal with them Bill? Those things get huge and I'm sure that you know they won't survive outside in your zone. Might be time for a bigger house with a bigger grow room.

    How are your Dragon Fruit Cacti plants doing? Did you get fruits from them?
    By the way, I got a chance (for the first time) to taste them and they taste similar to the Nopalea (Nopal) fruit! Shockingly, they look similar but Nopal has no green claws on it. Only needles.
    The Dragon fruit is an interesting plant for sure. Gotta look into it.

  • @jasminegaston8468

    How long would I have to dry them out before planting them and how deep in the planting soil would I plant them?

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  10 лет назад

      Jasmine Gaston I let them dry for approx. 3 days... and I just lightly covered them with soil. you can even leave them on the soil surface if you have good humidity.

    Very interesting this video, but I have a question. Why is this dragon fruit plant growing like in the video and while in other videos it is seen that it grows all up? bone without form. Muy interesante este vídeo, pero tengo una duda. por que esta planta de fruta de dragón crece como en el vídeo y mientras que en otros video se ve que el crece todo para arriba? osea sin forma.
