YIDDISH PLAY WARSAW with [e-mail] the sweeper

me [e-mail] Here am in this play at the Brooklyn College of the Performing Arts a show about WW2 WARSAW GHETTO , I play a street sweeper. the play is in Yiddish

This is truly an unusual play. It is performed in authentic Yiddish; the text is pronounced beautifully by young performers. Their pronunciation and intonation (= sentence melody) indicate clearly that Yiddish is their language. They are to be commended for their wonderful work. They use a regional pronunciation which is, linguistically speaking, a variant of Central (= Polish) Yiddish , but is actually characteristic of the Satmar area in Eastern Europe.
The phraseology (= words and expressions) is typically Yiddish; it is a delight to listen to it. Serious efforts of this kind are very encouraging; they show that the Yiddish language has not only a PRESENT, but also a FUTURE. [This appraisal has been written by a professional Yiddish linguist with decades of experience in the Yiddish field; Yiddish is his mother tongue and he is an active user of the language.]
