His willingness to give up a very high pay high status job to support his wife spoke volumes. He has been a true gentleman and great partner, at least from what's been made public.

Humble happy husband
He is so good at talking as much to the audience as to Stephen Colbert. Not a lot of guests do that if I'm not mistaken.
And he is a gentleman. How refreshing!
Just so cool to hear the wording and literally see change happening. He's setting a great model for the role.

Douglas Emhoff was delightful to listen to. Unpretentious and easy to like. And I especially appreciated that he spent most of the time directing his answers to the audience instead of soley to Stephen. He acknowledged the audience and included them in the conversation, instead of letting them watch a conversation between Stephen and him, which is what usually occurs in these guest interviews.

I was just thinking that it's unusual for a guest to be speaking to the audience rather than the host. And then he said he's a lawyer, and I guess it makes sense -- he normally speaks to the jury, and not the judge.

I don’t think he was doing trial law but he has been teaching at Georgetown law school since 2021.
He's set SUCH a high bar for future Second Gentlemen. It is so awesome to have a Second Gentleman who is so darn nice and productive in his duties and so supportive and clearly loving of his wife. A Gentleman in every sense of the word!

Martin Ginsburg, who ended his successfull career as a tax lawyer in NY and started teaching at Georgetown Law Center, where Doug Emhoff is also teaching.
Jill Biden, who was the first second lady to actually work parallel to her duties as a second lady.

A man actually supporting his wife's carreer and not promoting himself as her mentor or boss is such an unusual sight and sound.
But one I'd like to get used to.
Bc were the roles reverse we wouldn't even register that he said what he said. It's so normal for wives to support their husbands and not the other way around that once again: representation is key.

Sour idea that the vice-president doesn't do much is entirely wrong. I'd like to know more about what the vice-president really does.
