it's using the vp09 codec which isnt bad, likely lower bitrate video making it look worse.
not sure what the gopro bitrate is, anything less than about 80mb/s bitrate is gonna look bad on youtube if it has fast motion or foliage.
I thought the same thing also. it looked heaps noisy
Dirtbike footage is angled pretty low, I just want to reach through the screen and tilt it up
They had it zoomed in to much, they should have been using ultra wide.
I think they wanted the bike in the frame to show amount of shake.

On the clip mount, mount the camera on the lower side (camera upside down). This will allow you to get the camera facing up without hitting the mount, you won’t have footage of the handlebars, you’ll have more of what the rider is looking at

These are the perfect settings that work for me on the Hero 7 Black:
4K 60fps
FOV: Wide
Stabilisation: Auto
Protune: On
Shutter: Auto
EV Comp: -0.5
White Balance: Auto
ISO Min: 100
ISO Max: 400
Sharpness: Low or Medium (I usually use medium but low looks good for some sports)
Color: GoPro (I use flat, but then you have to correct the color in post)

Honestly, while the dirt bike footage blew me away, the forest ATV footage still looked like typical GoPro footage - unable to handle all that detail - and I was disappointed there. And they removed HDMI out again, which is crappy. Super curious how this one run via HDMI out to a Ninja would look, where you're bypassing their wonky encoder. But you'd lose stabilization and such.
That was RUclips compression. He set the bitrate to high, RUclips loves crushing those.
@@herefobeer That is an additional problem, but the forrest footage is pretty blurry even in 4k. The bike footage it's very nice, but the forest one lacks sharpness.
@@herefobeer Did he also turn down the setting for that shot? I think that was shot after the bike scene and he had the settings lower to improve the video is some form.

On the motorbike you can clearly see that the chin is not the best place. Doing a lot of POV for my cars videos, the best place is simply where our eyes are. That's why i still use the GoPro Session with a headband or on a cap, you can put it between your eyes without screwing your field of view. It's not the most secured thing but we're going deep for a nice shot.
Now i need to try this Gopro 9 and it's horizon lock, it might be the good one.
But also need to try the sony fdr x3000 with its awesome dynamic range.

I honestly think the new GoPro seems pretty sweet, but when it comes to dynamic range and separating your subject from the background. Eh...that’s where you can’t go wrong with your go to camera. The horizon lock looks very impressive! Good video bud.

@@Edward-sl6mg if you're asking me, my answer is yes I'm still happy with it. Since it's my first action camera then there's still a lot to learn and try out. Great stabilization, great video and photo quality, cool extra features like time lapse, longer battery life, etc. I also noticed that the low light quality is better than previous go pro models.

Yes, especially GoPro. Not only do they sharpen the image too much, their image processor does way too much edge sharpening (think: unsharp mask in Photoshop). That's the true culprit as to why it looks "fake". Set the sharpness all the way down and do whatever you want to the image but that edge sharpening never really goes away and it's a dead giveaway that the footage came from a GoPro. I wish they allowed users to set edge sharpening as a completely separate adjustment.
Interesting. Shame its like that. For fpv drones our only real option is a gopro sized camera, wish there was one without that edge sharpening

Facts
I chin mount my Gopro too, but I put it on bracket long enough so I can see it when I want. Its the only way you will ever keep from filming the ground or the blue sky.
the handle with the orange bottom does float, i have that one so when it is in water it floats by the bottom so the rest of the handle and camera are under the water. Also, if you wanna vlog it is good for that bc you have a good grip and you aren't covering the mic. I brought it tubing and attachted the wrist strap really tight and when I fell off the tube the handle and gopro were still attachted to my wrist.

Did you film with sharpening off and Color profile flat? That makes the footage 100x better
I actually shot with the sharpness on high but with flat profile and got great results.

It looks pretty good in the dunes, but optimal conditions. I think its a considerable upgrade from the 7. I didn't notice the horizon lock, as I'm constantly sideways.

When I try to record live, the video always goes at a different time, it does not record at the same time that I am talking, what can I do so that the gopro and facebook go at the same time im new on this gopro thing,,, any advice on how to make my videos work

I have got to Gopro Cameras and love them for there Handiness. I carry one most places in my pocket..
Unless someone really wants that front screen, 9 won't help. Especially when the price is almost double of 8.
It's better to buy two 8 because anyways most users will keep the front screen off as it will drain the battery much faster.

Pedro, I gotta' admit I shot a real estate walk through video for a client on my GoPro 9 (using a Crane 2), and that horizon leveling along with stabilization was better than what I have done with a Ronin S. Flat color profile with AWB worked perfectly.
That GoPro looks so smooth I almost feel like I would be able to dirt-bike that good XD

What I find most incredible about this video is that Peter was able to pump out multiple videos from what may have been a few days worth of footage. It looks like this footage on the dirt bike was shot from the same guy riding a bike in a previous video. If I'm correct, then that is just cool to me the multitasking and thought process of getting content for several videos that is super smart.
Correct me if I'm wrong please if not then yeah I just think it's cool
