instead of battanian horsemen, I wish battanian falxmen upgraded into a mounted falxmen with a rohmpalia. then they will have a swingable polarm with lots of damage.
Khan's have 260 poelarm that helps a lot. but damn, if this unit can't even perform with a glaive it's even worse than i thought. What about giving them a 1H sword of around 115 length or more?
Coming from Warbands and putting in about 1000 hours of Bannerlord myself, I can honestly say all cavalry is lacking. Heavily armored warhorses are being stopped by peasants with pitchforks. A lancer charge barely wracks up any kills, and the cycle charge is atrocious. Frequently I see the AI try to stab with lances across the saddle instead of staying couched. Also, as your video points out, they try to maneuver around infantry stabbing with their lances instead of switching to their sabre or secondary sword. V1.8 Beta made no improvements.
1.8. is being reported to be a step back for cavalry too. and indeed, cavalry in this game is a class, that's the most positive thing you can say about them. The thrusting AI, especially for spears is far from where it should be, and a similar behavior can be seen in infantry too. where only the units with spears below 190 perform decently. And let's not even start on the Riding AI and the Charge DMG. Only way to use most cav is flanking and dismounting. with only a few being decent enough in lancing. Skirmishing cav tho, recieved some huge AI buffs in 1.8. that made them way more useful than they ever were.
@@LyonExodus I agree on the skirmisher cavalry. I've noticed the AI placing them into their own partial formations in battle. The Battanian skirm cav is deadly. I'm writing this all off as Beta, so hopefully the polished product results in some serious overhauls. I've been enjoying your videos of unit breakdowns. Your rating scale seems to be on par with my own personal opinions. You earned a new sub. Look forward to more.
So, are they unplayable? Idk if there’s been any updates since this vid but I just got the game and want to do a battanian cavalry run. Is it going to be an up-hill struggle or are they just bad compared to other cav but you can still win if you spam them?

Depending on the difficulty you play on the Horseman might still be decent, but for more info i suggest asking to Flesson19 and his community, he is one of the oldest content creators of the game and him and his community are still active and playing Bannerlord. Hopefully i helped you out.

i've done it with mods and it's even more terrible because AI can't use swingable polearms on horseback
they just can't land a hit

I was thinking about making a video talking about how terrible this unit was but you did a good job explaining that. They should not be this terrible.
