I'm flabbergasted how so many can keep being optimistic about trump's abilities to fix things when - as you said very well - none of his recent statements should come as a surprise, and how bad they are. Meanwhile so many are just bending the knee to the american oligarchs. Dire times indeed.
as a Yank myself, totally agree. I'm mid fifties age now and there's no way, especially with who DJT is hiring right now, and who's been quitting in the Nat sec. /diplo sphere today.....: DJT/team is doing simply what street magicians do, with a fash edge: wild distracting and entertaining, when the plans are simply neo-reactionary ideas to be carried out by mediocre ppl and by ppl who really cannot think well. It is very dangerous in a moment like this, where the Clink enemies believe they see opportunity in a distracted weak U.S., even if in reality US response might be quite swift and good (but i fear it won't be bcuz DJT's personality is truly sheepish/unaggressive fundamentally. To me this is too complex to get into here, but i studied a lot of poly sci and a lot of behavioral sci,and other psy stuff, and i see DJT as the epitome of actual leadership/military weakness. That does put us in a precarious spot.
"Fucking Bonkers" & "Frigging Nuts" - that's exactly what's been going round in my head... and I'm just an old babusya! THANK YOU BOTH for the best rational discussion in these bizarre days. HUGE RESPECT! PS Jonathan F please can you add a link to Jonathan MS Pearce in your description. Can't believe I've not discovered him before now!
Thank you Jonathan Fink for the compliments on my fellow Danes. I happen to agree with you, and surely you know that Denmark is the country with the highest percentage of unequivocal support for Ukraine. Both in spirit and in kind 😌
2 x Jonathan: Great to hear you reflect upon crazy matters together! As a EU citizen I would welcome you (UK) back. BREXIT --> FIXIT. We need strong democratic unions to take on the geopolitical challenges ahead.
Let's be clear, there is no benefit to Trump being unpredictable as some suggest. Strategic ambiguity does offer advantages. However, Trump isn't being unpredictable or ambiguous, he's being deliberately hostile. There is a difference. Here is a fact, American's military and economic might has been built by Americans over generations through allies with like-minded nations who share common values. If you want America to be great, it requires it's allies. What relationships are the strongest, those that are stable or those that are unpredictable? The only winners of an unpredictable America is Russia and China. An unpredictable America encourages countries to seek military and economic stability in Russia/China and BRICS. America loses when it's unpredictable. You do not invest in unpredictable relationships or markets. Think it over with a bit of common sense.
Jonathan M.S. Pearse , Musk had a slip-of-the-tongue in an interview . Musk said , if we get caught ? We're going to prison for a very , very long time . Who is we ? Was he talking about the presidency?
I have never been persuaded that Trump and Musk were not under the explicit thrall of Putin. This was the same as the Georgian dream ascendence in Georgia. Only difference is that it succeeded in the most powerful nation on earth.
Nice talk Jonathan & Jonathan & Goose Springsteen :)) Thansk for that. I wonder if both Jonathans & Vlad Vexler can have a talk abt the EU and UK (far right-wing) future? Is UK shifting far right too in the (near) future and will the UK draw closer to the US or EU? and so on....
Great Britain may have done well to extricate itself from the EU since it’s not that great a group ; as evidenced by none of the EU countries having the courage to go to war with Ukraine against Ukraine’s invaders.
@@russbroda7207 possibly partly true re traits of SOME of the EU group of nations but it's also a chicken-egg argument. Timing. Is...everything. If UK had not left, the EU may have felt much stronger/more unified. UK sent a chilling signal, indirectly and by implication, by withdrawing from the union. It was a nonsensical decision, a case of black/white thinking & one of the worst economic & ignorant (and likely disinfo-sponsored by dangerous elements incl. the former ussr) decisions in anglosaxon history.
Former NATO Supreme Commander, Gen. Breedlove explains the Greenland issue and why. It's about preventing Russia and China from dominating the arctice waterways. China is dominating and making huge money off controlling the Panama Canal. Panama was not supposed to sell out to China but they have in effect, done so.
Exactly ! NATO/otan is the core of western security, which is based on an economic model. There is no world economy without Nato, period. Ppl are losing the plot as DJT pulls stunt after stunt. It's all nonsense. Nato's key members are the most important countries for various reasons, on earth, even though so many think that China is. It is not, as we are starting to sense/grok with how they pathetically operated re this war on western civilization itself, by Ru which has never been euro-anything, it's a lost finno-ugric tribe of medieval-thinking ppl, who now have NO place in the normal-ppl world, let alone civilizied world. Ru will either be contained, or we can forget the future.
Hey guys, re: what went on in Brazil w/ the twitter thing it was actually the supreme court of justice of Brazil, not the government who forced Elon to do a 180, i think other wise Elon wouldn’t be able to get paid for starlink services in the country, I’m sure anyone can look into it. Thanks!
Why buy weapons from someone who doesn't allow you to use them to defend yourself? Makes no sense, only reminds us to read the minuscule footnote print before signing. Unless it's a done deal in advance, and no matter who will suffer in the end, some will get filthy rich(er)

@ATPGeo and now subscribed!👌
Stopping Putin is kinda like bunjee jumping.
You’re not quite sure about jumping, but when you do, it changes everything!
Thanks so much for creating and sharing this informative live chat. Great job. Keep it up.

It was a great co-production. J-squared - double plus good! 😂
Poland sees it coming again ; and they oughta know.

Two Jonathans!
2025 is looking better already.
Trump can not adopt unilateral decision on exit from NATO. I believe a decision of US Congress is required for such exit to be possible.
Let us hope so. He’s an insane, corrupt moron. What a disgusting “man” among many disgusting men.
Yup, Brexit was a superbly stupid move, sorry to say. I believe it might have been a RU testing field, and unfortunately has succeeded
I don't believe that the Russians came up with it but they certainly did amplify anti-EU propaganda etc.
Stoked the flame, so to speak.

We are witnessing the birth of a new form of government in the world. One neither Plato nor Aristotle have dreamt of. IDIOCRACY.
Don't think that Canada will go down quietly. There's always time in the day to add to the Geneva Suggestions list.
It will politely decline the invitation to join the USA.

J Squared. Nice ☺
Maybe a NATO without USA, will prove that USA military might not be so strong as it thinks.
This is NOT very real but I do not want to test.
More swearing! Bring the catharsis! ❤
Jonathan. remember when Gordon Brown sent the Royal Fleet to Iceland over their sovereign debt with the UK?

Late to comment, but I think that Putin and Trump both want to weaken Europe: Putin for imperialistic reasons, and Trump for economic reasons.
IT'S JUST BRINKMANSHIP..... YEAH IT'S JUST PART OF HIS TACTIC
My favorite fools
Scooter patrol has to be sent to the home of Elon Musk!
I THINK TRUMP IS JUST TRYING NOT TO BE PREDICTABLE TO GO NON-TRAD
I THINK HE IS DOING IT FOR A REASON.... HE DOESN'T WANT TO SHOW HIS CARDS TO RUSSIA OR CHINA
Everyone giving up their homes and land can go and live at Donald Trumps Properties
As a Canadian if Trump invades a NATO country who will you choose?
I will fight against Trump and president Musk.
Wouldn’t it be a good time to declare a kind of martial law in the EU?
nice try russiye-think-troll/bot whatnot. It's merely time to interview a lot of russian residents in the EU and deal with them. Duh.

fluff. Your name says it all. Lay off the ganja
