I looked for a tutorial on volcano months ago and found nothing decent and then I look tonight when I'm trying to learn of paper and its not coming together the way i want it, and who has it one up! the very woman who thought me half the songs I learned when I started! legend

the strumming pattern is hard, took some time for to get it.
For those struggling try this, you can do it really slowly and it will still sound OK.
We are trying to make 5 sounds 3 strums plus one hammer on and one drum mute
Holding a plek in your strumming hand
1 up stroke followed instantly by drumming the buttom of your strumming fist onto all the strings (2 sounds)
1 down stroke (3rd sound)
1 more down stroke this time with the hammer on that she mentions (4th and 5th sound)

If I'm learning or teaching a new rhythm the most important thing to me is that I can sound the rhythm vocally, or hear it in my head - once I've got it that way, and I understand what's happening, then I can usually play it.
I don't know if that helps?
I did have problems with this one for a few hours, it's certainly a bit tricky to start with.
Just curious... which tuning are you in? Are you in standard or a drop tuning?

Excellent, but I didn t get if you are muting the E string with the thumb or if you are playing it.
85sgart Playing it. It's usually called the Hendrix grip/style... It just frees your first finger up a bit and allows you to do some other stuff.
