Yeah southern colorado is a lot like NM for mud. It gets wet and your day is over.
Yeah. I have been learning about the desert mud.
Crazy thing is we went thru in mid July 2022 and never got a single rain drop from Trinidad Colorado to almost in Oregon!!
Perfect timing. We got nailed by storms a few times. Ha. But that’s all part of it.

Coming from somewhere that doesn't have snakes, two questions.
1) are you insane?
2) do you need to move them off the road before you pass and if so how?
Haha. I grew up around them. As a kid I would catch snakes. One summer I had a goal to find a snake every day of the summer. Crazy is normal for me I guess. :)
That snake wasn't big like we have in Florida but still giving them some distance is a good idea. Steve Irwin Crocodile hunter came to Florida once and found a big Eastern Diamond Back Rattle snake. That snake had his attention every second. Not like we were used to seeing with him.

Riding the trans American trail on a ktm 890 adventure r. Also seen is a bmw 1200 and a Yamaha tenere t7
That red clay, when it gets wet, just sticks to the tire. It seems the more aggressive the tire, the better it sticks. I've seen dirt riders turn around when they hit that stuff.
Yeah. I was shocked. It was not possible to go much further. It was nasty stuff. Gotta respect that slick mud. Ha
