[Cadenza] Prokofiev - Piano Concerto No. 2 (Synthesia)

- The powerful cadenza from Prokofiev's 2nd Piano Concerto!
The recording you hear is the same as in the following video, and the midi file is synced to it:
• Prokofiev Piano Concer...
Midi file: bit.ly/3doOubG
This video is meant for visualization of the cadenza (I wouldn't recommend using this video as a tutorial). If you use it as a tutorial, you should know that there are a few notes out of place, as the sheet music I used missed few sharps, and also I also missed some notes.
The midi file above is updated as I find the mistakes, but as I can't update the video, here they are:
2:37 - The first 3 G-naturals in the middle of the keyboard after that point should be G-Sharps.
3:50 - The G-natural in the left hand should be a G-Sharp.
3:55 - Four G-naturals in the left hand should be G-Sharps.
3:55 - The right hand "swirls" should end in a C-Sharp, not a C-natural.
4:04 - The right hand "swirls" should end in a C-Sharp, not a C-natural.
4:17 - There shouldn't be a black note at the beginning of the right hand glissando.
Pianist: Horacio Gutiérrez
Conductor: Neeme Järvi
Orchestra: Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Видеоклипы
Its the most colosal cadenza ever written… it’s monumental…
Prokofiev even wrote ‘colossale’ in the arpeggio section
Wooow its so cool to see the cadenza visualised
Makes it looks even more monolithic than it already is
4:25 I actually found this part to be the hardest passage of the first movement - especially if you're trying to keep eye-contact with the conductor because they can't hear your pulse after the orchestral re-entry... The leaps are fairly tame compared to the cadenza, but BOTH hands at the same time, I honestly think it's one of the most awkward passages in this entire piece. Luckily nobody has to hear you if you want to lay low for a couple of bars ;)
When the horns come in, it sounds like the most evil piano concerto written. I love it
@@jiafeiskinnyproductslol one of my friends said it sounds like the end of the world
One of the best concerti ever, I'm so grateful that this concerto exists.
Just one of the greatest things in art music, and yes, of course, immediately recognizable as the Gutierrez recording.
"Art music"?
@@WEEBLLOMart tatum
@@WEEBLLOMYes this is Art
@@Aleksandr_Skrjabin yes but that's a weird way to refer to classical music
@@WEEBLLOM Well.. Classical is known to have the most Art in it, almost purely even,,
It sounds like 3 hands playing this is so impressive.
Very few pianists will even play this beautiful monster.
I'm attempting to play it right now !
@@theozuretti6091 good luck!
@@theozuretti6091 how'd it go?
Im learning it right now but ill probably mess it up
So far hardest part is 2:56
excellent video worth the wait for it.
This performance was my first copy bought in CD. I have over a dozen different recordings but this is near my favorite.
my favorite part of the concerto
Please, let me know if you have any ideas regarding why my this midi-file in some complicated places recognize the lengths and order of how the notes goes a little bit different and slightly wrong with my Sythesia? Maybe I have an older version which had some other algorithm to quantize the notes.
I think the problem was when I first made that midi, I used a note resolution of 96 pulses per quarter note, so the difficult passages where there are like 15 notes in a quarter note quantized very badly because it rounded off to the nearest pulse, and the notes became irregular lengths.
So I increased the note resolution to 960 (the maximum amount) and rewrote the difficult passages with this new resolution. Here's a link to that midi: bit.ly/3doOubG
It takes a bit longer to load in Synthesia though.
autumn mixture thank you so much! It is way better now!
Very wonderful to listen the virtuosic cadenza
Nice ! Please make more !!
Just for once, in one brilliant piece, Prokofiev let go of his sarcasm, and the result was amazing
You're truly amazing! Can you do the full concerto or atleast the first movement? Please????
This is the recording of Horacio Gutiérres
Thanks for upload! Where is it possible to download or even buy this midi?
I added a link to the description.
@@autumnmixture wow! thanks sooo much! I have the paper score for two pianos but I'm not that good at sheet music reading, so I even tried to make a .mid file myself through the MuseScore. But never went through the problem of 4/4 in right hand and 12/8 in left hand.
@@realrussiablog You can play Prokofiev, but not read sheet music?! That's madness :)

That midi exists
@@tchaffmanWhere?
Please do rachmaninoff concerto no.2, 3rd😍😍
Never played the piano. I have a question: are you supposed to play this with both hands or you can use your feet and nose as a support? 10 points to the best answer
hands. For the sustain notes you use your foot to hold down the sustain pedal
You cannot play it if you are not an octopus, sorry
Can you please please do the whole concertoooo!!!?????! Would helpe out a ton
It's like 30+ min long 😭 that would be a heap to render
@@tyler-qr5jn if you could do it, I would pay for that😊. Because that would be so nice!!!!
@@sergei-prokofiev if I could I would of done it already. I love the concerto too 😭 I tried to import the entire thing into musescore, then take it over to synthesia. But the sheet was impossible to import, the recognition software couldn't pick up the sheet. Inputing each note manually would take me to my deathbed. Even getting me musicsheet was a feat in itself, its hard to get a free copy
here's a download link to the entire concerto piano sheet, the only free copy i could find. imslp.org/wiki/Special:ImagefromIndex/452164/torat and here's the link to the website so you can get the other sheets relating to the concerto: imslp.org/wiki/Piano_Concerto_No.2,_Op.16_(Prokofiev,_Sergey)
@@tyler-qr5jn ohhww thank you so much!! Ojhww so its not really possible... That's too bad... 😭 This concerto is so beautiful omgggg! Well no worries thank you for your awnsers!!!!

Listen to the E.Kissin, his interpretation is the best!!!
Thank you for this. FYI, at 3:03 (your measure 46), the 6th note in the RH arpeggio should be a B flat as opposed to a C. Your audio is also not perfectly synced here; I would suggest setting that objective aside and just playing the MIDI... ;)
Will pass on any other issues as I continue my study.
EDIT 2021/02/17 - @UCoQin2L9vtwZN2b8sx-9ruA for the measure that starts at 2:47, the lowest note on the first RH chord is an F#, not an F. Further, you are missing the fourth note in the LH run immediately after, it is a D# (E > G > Bflat > D#). 3:05 the last RH note in this measure is a Cflat (B) not a B#.
Ok Max
liszt:omg i t so...............hard no, easy
One of the hardest cadenza ever but it’s not lyrical enough for my ears. Not my cup of tea
