I had to choose between marinaro's sick podcast and this podcast as the first one I watch this morning about Lane Hutson's signing. I chose you guys. Keep up the great work.
The best thing about Lanes mistake last night was it's fresh in his mind and he'll make sure that doesn't happen in the NHL. As far as expectations. I have none for the rest of the season. Just enjoy watching him.
Prior to the beginning of this season, I predicted the Canadiens would finish 8th in the Atlantic and anywhere from 6th to 9th worst in the league. So, not far off. However, the individual and team improvement has been evident to see, being the second full season of the rebuild. I'm looking forward to the draft and changes coming this summer. I don't expect the playoffs next season, nor do I expect another bottom 5 finish. Another season of growth towards a top 3 finish in the Atlantic would satisfy my view of this rebuilding process.
I think what will surprise most is that Lane won’t look that small out there. I hope he embraces the spotlight because there is no escaping it as long as he remains a Hab.
People really like to make a big deal out of Hutson being small (Which is a win for the Habs, if he was 6"0 instead, there's no way he's still there at #62) but he's 5''10, same as Quinn Hughes and Makar is just an inch taller at 5''11. Not saying he'll be as good as those 2 but their size didn't stop them at all to be stars in the NHL.
And nobody talk about Jared Spurgeon, a 5'9'' 167 lbs D. Of course not on the same level as Makar and Hughes, but he's a veteran defenceman in the NHL that played solid 2nd + pairing.
I"ve been selling Hutson to my dad since we drafted him, after those 2 games i fully expect my dad to tell me hes not good enough as if he could see the future
There's no scenario where the Habs keep both Hutson and Harris. Unfortunately for Harris, the Habs prospect pool is simply too good to have 2 smallish Dmen that are not physical on the team. If this was a few years ago or the last 25 years they would both likely have been on the team. But with Reinbacher, Guhle, Mailloux, Xhekaj, Engstrom, Struble and Bogdan, there's just too much depth there.
Hutson to have success with the habs will have to go deep in opponent territory and have a forward play defense for that instant in time. So Habs will have to play a very offensive game where they have the puck often, otherwise he's useless and i hope he gets to train with teammates in defensive situation before he plays a regular game, because he's not fast and he could get crushed in a corner, i fear.
Great shows gentlemen. I have a hypothetical trade scenario between habs and coyotes given the uncertainty with the yotes, what do you guys think of trading the habs 2025 first round pick (top 5 protected) colorados 2nd round pick this year owned by the habs, josh anderson, jordan harris for Clayton Keller?
Good stuff. I listen to you guys when I just want to take it slow and relax

same here. This is definitely the most informed habs podcast. Keep it up boys 👏🏽
Excellent show!
Awesome show as always
I wish Arpon would make more appearances in French media!

Perspective! Thank you!
Great pod as usual

Seamus Casey was drafted ahead of Hutson. He is very similar in size and style, and was as productive in the NCAA this past year.

Let me know ow when Xhekaj is back...that means more
I want hutson with Savard next year but i think he might need some AHL time before maybe with reinbacher? He was drafted for this anyway
LIke Slaf Lane will never ever play a single game in the AHL mark this words !
Are the Habs going to sign Tuch??

Wouldn't hutson also play for the rocket in the playoffs?

So do the Habs draft Cole Hutson with Winnipeg's pick then?

Arpon needs to lose the glasses.
He wont see….
Matheson was a junior AND played in the AHL.
You guys don't mention that Mesar was drafted ahead of Beck and Hutson, not to mention local RD Luneau and Lamoureux. Mesar was a horrible choice.
Hughes still beats everyone with feet. That's his game.
Bobrov had a horrific draft record in NY. Got he and Gordon FIRED there.
How do you explain Vegas? Basu bloviates with absolute confidence, but he isn't the brightest of bulbs... 😒😒
