Robert Kushner is an American painter known for his commitment to the Pattern and Decoration movement. Founded in the mid-1970s, the movement seeks to highlight and produce marginalized art forms considered feminist or mundane during the height of the modern era. Kushner's work draws inspiration from many influences, including Georgia O'Keeffe, Islamic textiles, and artists who wield Chinese brush art such as Qi Bashi, to create emotionally charged ornamental paintings. His works are characterized by the use of colorful harmonies, fluid and bold designs, a combination of natural figurative elements and abstract geometric shapes. Born in 1949 in Pasadena, California, Kushner is responsible for creating large murals around the world. He has participated in three Whitney Biennials, two Venice Biennials and his work is included in the permanent collections of the Met in New York, the Tate Gallery in London and the Museum Ludwig in Saint Petersburg, among others.

This work is very poetic and provocative; pattern and decoration at its best.

There is an Artist on the opposite side because many painters are trying to achieve tension. But this one is trying to get reversed affect.
