  • Since we were motoring because our winds were on our nose, we decided to use our Rainman desalinator while underway.
This video shows the setup and how much we made in 4 hours of motoring along.

Thank you for sharing this process, we are looking at installing a unit on our boat this fall, but was not sure which water maker to get. This unit looks very easy to use and makes fresh water quite fast! Very cool! :-)

If I had to do it again, I would have bought the 2 membrane unit. It uses same power and twice as much water.... Also $750 more.....

Nice video. One suggestion that may be of interest. You could use the camlock and a tee off your deckwash to use water out of the through hull while under way. A number of users are doing that with great success.
Also, do you mind if we repost your video on the Rainman website?

Good idea, we will do a semi install on it before we head back out to the Bahamas.
I also wish I hadn't cheapened out and bought the single membrane.... But other than that we love it!
You are welcome to share the video or if you have any other ideas let us know

Do you ever worry about the water lines getting into your prop? I mean I would still do it but I would be constantly worried lol

The hose is not near long enough. I was more worried about it staying under water
