We have tested three of the MS Teams phones as replacement for current desk phones. Currently the MS Teams phones really come up short in the following ways. 1. There is no way to create a home screen of your team members. This function was present in the older MS Skype system but is not available in teams. 2. You have to type the name or number of a party in order to transfer a call. This is a must have function for our office. We would have moved forward with teams but without these two features using teams as a desk phone is a no go.

Yeah there are a few shortfalls with teams for desk phones which I've been trying to resolve with Yealink but seems to fall more on Microsoft's lap then Yealink so far I can see. I believe other manufacturers are using the same teams app for their phone that Microsoft releases and the vendors sort out the Android base OS to work with the phone. What are you looking basically is a speed dial feature? I'm wondering if the additional panel with dedicated buttons for contacts would be an alternative?

Hi there, first of all, i think you're doing a great job in leading people through all the options Teams Voice provides because it can be quite confusing.
Second, it would've been nice to be able to have seen you add the phone to the Teams portal because you start your video with the phone already added and i find it a little bit confusing and dont know whats suppose to happen before that.
Also, but this is more regarding your first video actually but since i am already commenting, do you run your Teams server in the cloud? How do you have it set up in this testing environment?
Last but not least, could you test that IF a user is in a Teams Meeting/call on the desktop, does the physical phone still ring if it gets an external call from outside the company?
I thank you for your time and effort!

Great video, very helpful, thanks. I'd like to get one of these for testing with my company.

I'm glad it has been helpful. You can get the cheaper version as well T55A, it just has a smaller screen and costs 1/3 less

We currently have two of these phones as well as one T55A, all using Teams. Everything works pretty well except the speakerphones. The quality of the call through the speakerphone on these phones is so so poor that users don't use this feature, and we ended up purchasing separate USB speakerphones for cases where speakerphone is needed. We don't plan to purchase any more unless we find out why the speakerphone quality is so poor.

I haven't got complaints about the T56, but the customer uses proper conference phones in the meeting rooms and no one uses loudspeaker anywhere else as it is an open plan office and people would get really annoyed with that. Is it the loudspeaker itself that seems to be the issue of the audio picked up by the device that is the problem? I'll do some tests with the phone in a quiet room and will let you know how it goes.

    2 Questions...
    1. Can you use teams chat on the phone?
    2. Can you configure an automatic Signed Out after a period of inactivity to allow for a community type of phone?

Hi Asygma, is it possible to use this Yealink T56A for Microsoft Teams Voice, and (at the same time) for 'traditional' SIP-lines (hosted in the cloud) ? Thanks!

Poly CCX series seem like the best Teams desk phones currently, though they all have similar issues because of poor setup by Microsoft.

Poly phones cost 30-50% more, they need to have better hardware :)

Once you do the initial setup and login is this phone always logged in? After a few hours or the next day simply pick up the handset to initiate a call or do I have to login each time I want to use it as a phone?

Monthly cost? Do you use an SBC? Can you dial a number from your computer and pick it up on the headset? I am working on connecting asterisk to it.

    • @asygma5999

Monthly costs for what exactly do you ask? We are using a combination of SBCs and Microsoft calling plans depending on customer needs and size. There is call parking feature to pick up a call but I haven't tested it, I can test that for you. How are you planning to connect Asterisk? Thanks!

a Few questions: Can you access a web interface to manage the phone remotely?
With the Teams edition activated, can you still setup a SIP voip phone line on this phone and use both?
    Thanks.

Hello! Thanks for the video. Is there a way to assign an extension to someone? So that a user can dial 1234 for example and it will connect them to John Doe through teams. Thanks!
