- From the Freedom Tower turned blue in downtown Miami to the balloons and flowers on an unmarked police car in West Little River, Miami-Dade County honored a fallen detective with tributes that included a solemn procession and a motorcade to the funeral home.
Officer Echy, thank you for your service & sacrifice. My condolences to the family and friends on the loss of their loved one. RIP

I dont know and will not ever know how my Grandfather made it through the 70's in Miami as a Cop. I still look at his picture and see it on his face , he lost alot of friends , NYPD and Miami ... Hollywood , Broward County. I remember so much. MY Heart goes out to you guys . I cant say much more. RIP I still feel the pain . He took that risk decades ago , no vests either.

Do they have funerals for all city employees that work for the city like this I've heard of city employees who have died when a water main burst with high pressure but I've never seen them have a funeral like this for them or is it just for cops.

And he was killed, moments after he took the life of this officer, I feel nothing for the suspect and his family this officer didn't deserve this. This was senseless and tragic. the idea that cops kill black people for fun is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. it doesn't even statistically hold water when you tally the data for officer involved shootings and what races they affect and what led up to them, 99 percent of the time the suspect had a weapon. people seem to forget that being a cop is just an occupation, not a personality rate. its like you can accept that they were a normal person before they got the job but as soon as they turn in that application they're now a murderous psycho that hates black people lol.
He was killed by an armed robber. I guess in a dystopian society it is okay to steal and destroy private property and shoot at the law officers ( detectives). Wouldn't you call the police if this suspect would try to steal your car or break into your home. I guess you would not. I guess you would be ok. Because he has the right to steal.... A functioning society need law enforcement. However, police brutality is not acceptable in such society.

So you have proper perspective and context... this doesn't happen daily or even yearly... the job of a police officer can lead to death but it is statistically not the most dangerous job in America, nor is it close. Yet police oftentimes kill with impunity and are protected by qualified immunity giving some the idea these protections are given because of the work that is done. Fact is those protections are extended by a drive to protect the government financially. In a capitalistic society the dollar drives decision making.
you're right officer deaths don't happen daily. but they definitely happen yearly. if you're specifically talking chances of death, sure the job isn't anywhere near the top, but the chances of injury are significantly higher than 90 percent of jobs. dozens of officers are injured one way or another in south florida daily while that number is in the tens of thousands around the country. sounds like you're the one who needs perspective and context.
it happens too often for me. they shut down all the roads and make everyone sit in gridlock traffic forever just burning gas.
If you seperate the cops that drive cars all day from the other ones the stats would make it one of the worst because they crash all the time.
