Pleased to see Lindsey Horan score for the US team. She’s been excellent with her French team Olympic Lyonnais.
I'm shocked because I don't see it with the national team. All I see is slow, unathletic, and prone to Morgan syndrome (falling down at the slightest breeze). One timely strike on goal in a billion doesn't excitement make. 😢
The Chelsea girls are all playing well over the break it seems 💙
Whoo Hoo, so nice to have the youngsters come through! And Horan worked her a$$ off all game and also scored a much deserved goal.
It's about time they play the youngest. The future is now I'd like to see even more brought in to try out. The future is bright just get the new coach in already!
What a joy it was to see the smiles of Mia Fishel and Jaedyn Shaw after they scored their first goals for the national team.
I remember watching Rodman and Fishel playing together on the U-20 team during the CONCACAF championship tourney a few years ago. It almost seemed unfair. They put up ridiculous numbers in five games. It’s nice to see them on the same pitch again.
The problem is that lately, the US U-20 women's teams flatten CONCACAF opposition and then fall flat at the main event. The last two US U-20 women's teams at World Cups (2018 and 2022) failed to even get out of the group stage. A lot of those players are in the senior national team now. It would have been interesting to see Fishel, Rodman and co. would ahve done at the actual U-20 WC. Their edition (the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup) was cancelled because of COVID.
@@DRog-vn8vm100 accurate Spain winning the World Cup was preceded by them winning the u17 and u20 cups. Another thing is that Sofia Smith was our only player in the balón ‘or list not even close to top 10! I do hope things turn around! I would like to see more players

There's many reason why the US didnt do so good in the Womens World Cup. Morgan at the 9 was one of the problems.
@@justtester_9962 last season was the top goalscorer at NWSL, both last season and current season, reached NWSL semifinals with San Diego Wave xd

@@JoseHernandeZeitgeist On ESPN I see that she was the top goal scorer for 2022 & 23 season only. That must have been on a different planet because she has pretty much been irrelevant and ineffective since and during the last WC they won in 2019 while playing for the national team.

I LOVE using Ms Rodman on EAFC 24, she extremely fast, has a great shot, drubbling, passing and my favorite is when a player comes back to help on defense.
Sophia Smith is unlikely to reach her full potential with the USWNT until they stop playing her out of position. She's a _striker_, ffs...not a winger.
Exactly. I've been saying that for as long as VA played her at wings. Need to sit or cut Morgan and put Sophia Smith there at 9.
Part of the reason the USWNT did so poorly in the world cup. They kept playing Alex Morgan as striker and she just is not good enough for it on the national stage. They need to put Smith in the middle with Rodman and Williams on the wings and move Morgan to the no.8 spot or as a sub.

She is a true 9 and unfortunately Morgan is occupying that spot. I’d love to see Smith at her true 9

I hope that people are not drawing conclusions about the young players based on this game. It’s jus one game and I do not put a lot of wait one game when it comes to the young players. I prefer to see how they perform against better teams Columbia has not been a team that really has been able score against the USWNT. The first half of the game passing in the scoring third was not good as it was in the second half. When have front line players that can pass things can happen. When you have players that usually are more of a run and shoot player where passing is very rare from them you don’t see a lot of ball movement between players. Sophia strength is her speed passing is not in her game Swanson style is almost a mirror image of Smith style run and shoot. Morgan was used to having people around her that get her the ball both in the air and on the ground. When Vlatko took over that all changed , Morgan was used as a false nine not getting many passes or crosses her way and Smith and Swanson became the main scorers. Of course that style failed big time at the WC. Things need to change. The style of play needs an upgrade no more this run and shoot that Vlatko wanted to employ that means reassessing Smiths and Swanson rolls as wingers. I am still waiting to see how both Smith and Swanson will adjust to a different style of play that we are seeing. When it comes to Mia Fishel 1 game is not enough for me to draw any conclusions about who should play the nine. Let see her in more games against better opponents
*It failed in the W.C. because Mallory Swanson got injured. With Swanson in the W.C., the team would have reached at least the quarter-finals. Well, it's water under the bridge*
Better players - even if they beat the England team you still wouldn’t satisfied, there would be another point you’d make to be in doubt. We all know they are young players and they need time,that’s no ground breaking news. In fact it doesn’t matter what type of style of play they play, if they execute well it doesn’t matter if you are predictable, you don’t trick people to win. Personally I don’t care what style of play they end up playing just as long as they can execute the plan and they have a clear identity to how they want to play and have the right players to play that style.
So one game is enough for you to draw conclusions about who to start. It not about doubt it’s about seeing how they perform against more than just one team and different levels of play other teams play and not just one game
You’re in denial that Morgan is finished. Her body is not the same, more notably, her mind and motivation are not the same. I was certain she would miss that penalty from last game, her arrogance to undermine her own poor form and not let someone else take it is unacceptable. Why not let the new generation flourish? Also, it’s Colombia brother. Respect if you want respect back.

Many sports figures go through slumps. Alex is no different. She is a class act, a leader. and well liked. She still has her wheels and she still lauches rockets at the net. She is far from done my friend.

how have we fallen this low. It sucks to see the program in this state. the score aside, this should have been a blowout. Columbia was giving the united states so many problems in the first half. They need to restructure the entire team. Some young talent, but they are not being utilized correctly. No crisp passes, the shots were all over the place, the player placements were horrible. If they dont do something, the rest of the world is passing us by so so fast. They need new formations, they need to get rid of Alex (sorry Alex, love you always have) and they need structure. Unfortunatley Carli Loyd was right, the program is going the wrong way. Please turn it around. Please

That's because the rest of the world has caught up. USWNT is not playing against underfunded semi-professionals anymore. There's real competition now.
They can still do well and remain a contender for every title, similar to what Brazil is in the men's game. But the days of trouncing Thailand by 13-0 are long gone. It's unrealistic to expect them to be as dominant as they used to be.
you have to remember that this is the same columbia team that pulled off an upset against germany and germany has always been up there with the USA

...ese segundo partido huele a " convenido". Tras un primer partido sin resultados.EEUU no podia darse el lujo de perder en su casa. Y Colombia inició con su nomina más floja ( hasta sin sus atacantes) y la portera colombiana no ayudaba a la " causa" y por eso salió. Debia ser asi. Porque sino , se le va la gente encima y vuelan cabezas en la seleccion de USA.

Jumm...con la salida de la portera de Colombia , hasta esas devoluciones del balon hacia atrás y tanta pasividad al punto de no hacer tantos cambios ni surtirlos con buen tiempo, más la ausencia de por lo menos 4 de sus jugadoras estrella...me da para pensar que ese partido estaba " acordado". Recuerden que EEUU estaba en su casa y le costó mucho ese primer partido...y de no lograr resultado en el segundo, seria catastrófico para su imagen y apoyo. Eso es falso lo que dices, Colombia realmente no tiene un buen equipo y no hay renovacion como si lo esta haciendo USA. Este partido pudo ser una goleada mucho mayor.
