I love the story about the "Stinking Benjamin", the things you learn watching metal detecting videos!
The white ones are the provincial flower of Ontario Canada. It is illegal to pick them because they die if you do.,and they don't transplant well either!
Wonderful finds! Love the knee buckle & the elephant button! You always do an amazing job editing your videos! I don’t understand the people that find something to thumbs down our videos. Amazing job! Keep up the awesome work! ~ Gypsy
Thanks again Gypsy! I’ve received comments in the past stating they were giving down thumbs for the most benign details like “too much talking” or “shaky camera” so I try to not give it much mind haha
@@GMMD takes all kinds, keep them coming. Excellent Job on all👍
3:25 Botanist here. I love that you occasionally stop and talk about a plant. Much appreciated! And very cool flower
Brilliant! Loved the way you showed the tree canopy, leaves rocks & flowers at the beginning. Thankyou.
"It's all downhill and I've got a bike..." sometimes, it's the simple things that make us smile. Nice hunt and rain... Thanks for taking us with you Brad.
John
Thanks for watching John!
Great fun! Between the bouquet of stinking Benjamin's and the flying Turkey description, almost outweighs the wonder of your finds!
Hahaha
I am so enjoying all these old video, what a treat.
I love finding low PH soil in detecting areas, the coins and relics are always in great shape. Looks like a great soil area there.
I love to see all the plants and the bugs that you show, amin England and I love the natual world. Wish you luck in your adventures.
I just found you recently and absolutely love your videos. I am a frustrated Archeologist and throughly enjoy your adventures.
Also you remind me of someone..you are so familiar to me. Thank you for sharing your world.
Glad you like them!
Thanks for taking us with you!
When the helicopter came over it reminded me of deer hunt when I was about 14 years old we were on top of a mountain in SW Virginia and out of no where came a fighter jet I swear I could have touched it. The crazy thing was we never heard it coming it scared us to death after we saw it then came the noise it was so loud but very cool. Great video as they always are.
That buckle was a super cool find!
Hi Brad, some nice finds, that buckle was the best I've seen you dig up in that type of area, awesome. A really well made video as always and I loved the intro with the macro on the flowers. Thank you. x
Nice Finds , Always Find Your Videos
Interesting .
The Stinking Benjamin
Story Was super hilarious.
Please more, more and then more, I love waking up to a GMMD video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Could agree more with the sentiment about being outdoors in the woods. Great video. HH
The trillium is a very unique flower. thanks for showcasing them when you find them.
Like I've told you while talking... your videography is 2nd to none! Gorgeous camera work amazing finds best music... we're not worthyyyyy!!!(pulling the Wayne's world) loved this!
Haha thanks man!
Party on
Very cool finds and footage. My dad grow white trillium for a hobby. They take several years to mature flowering. :)
What a guy! Thumbs up to you! Great videos and fantastic scenery!
Another great video Brad,I have too say u have the best produced Mding video's,I can tell u go the extra mile buddy GL&HH-Brian
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it!
Great video! I enjoy the extra information on the local flora and fauna. Also, because I enjoy historical research, I like the fact you also research your finds.
I am looking forward to watching both your past and future videos. 🙂👍🏻👍🏻
So glad to hear it Ian, thanks for watching!
That knee buckle and the jumbo button were really interesting. Definitely top finds of the day.
Those finds are great man. You are definitely spoiled up there in Vermont! The loot from this video's trip looks about like the oldest things you'd find in my part of FL. Great video!
Minus the dandy button. I've never heard of somebody finding one in the 5 counties surrounding mine.
Lots of great finds. Can't wait till your next video comes out, Your one of my favorite metal detecting channels on RUclips. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks so much, glad to hear that!!
Love the Turkey impression! 😜 Great video as always, thanks for taking the time to share with us. My Friday is now complete.
Haha thanks for coming along!
Cool finds Brad, love the knee buckle and as always the beautiful scenery!
Hi Brad I always look forward to Friday You know your my favorite You do find the neatest things Those mountains are going to keep you fit. A lot cheaper then the gym.
Haha you can say that again!
Young feller, you had some nice finds, but l was almighty impressed with your intro of beautiful things which you also didn't neglect in the body of your video. I enjoyed the whole experience very much. Thank you.
So glad to hear that Cecil! Thanks for watching!
I love your adventures because they are timeless. Many many thanks Brad
Springtime! I am looking forward to detecting in the Adirondack Mountains in the very near future, I can almost smell the pines & the warming earth in this video, thanks!
It's hard to beat!
Great video thank you for showing the wild flowers great haul. Be safe and happy hunting.
You are so kind and good at narrating you’re working adventure. Thanks
Congrats on the knee buckle, Brad, that's a pretty sweet find. Also, given the different sizes I've seen found, I've often wondered if "ox knobs" were also made in a size gradient for goats. I know "goat carts" were used and they were probably a menu item, so it seems likely to me there would have been knobbly bits for goat horns, as well. What think? As always, well presented and strewn with neat stuff to know, like don't bring home the stankey posies. ;-))
Interesting, I've never considered goats! Thanks for the insight!
I enjoy watching your videos, some amazing stuff. I would like to start sear hing for old goodies, what type and brand of detector would you recummand or are they all created equal?
Good mix of finds, really like the knee buckle! Despite the rain it turned out to be a pretty good day in the woods!
You were right. The knee buckle was the find of the day. Nice save.
Bigfoot/sq folk, good sign thru out this entire vid! Big X's, Leaners, walkways, quite a few Bends!!!! No time stamps, cuz no sightings.....yet.
Great vid, bellisemo landscape, love that elephant button!
I saw those too I am a Bigfoot researcher from Idaho and I see all kinds of structures in his vids...always wondered if he has had any encounters
Nice opening! Overall a beautiful, artistic video! The partial key hole is a special find when you can imagine, considering it's size, that it was on the front door to a house. As always, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Joe, Great point about the keyhole!!
I agree. It's always fun to discover something unusual, whether in treasure hunting, or information, and the learning one gleans from research is incredible. Keep up the fine work, my friend. I go with you in spirit since I can't in the physical.
Thanks a lot Kevin!
so kool! please go back to the top of the mountain where you were gonna start soon, its driving us crazy not knowing what's up there!
Will do! Thanks!
Excellent discoveries at the end of the day. Excellent commentary on the habitat. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed Jay!
Jumbo was or is maybe still the mascot of Tufts College. The tale of Tufts' official mascot, Jumbo the elephant, dates back to 1885. Circus showman P.T. Barnum was an early trustee and benefactor of Tufts and he donated the stuffed hide of Jumbo to the university. For 86 years, Jumbo stood in Barnum Hall and was a veritable mecca on campus. My grandfather graduated from Tufts in 1932 and had a great story about Jumbo and all the memorabilia. Once again Brad - Awesomeness from you and your adventures. PS - If you're ever interested in hearing the Jumbo story contact me privately. Cheers!!!
Thanks a lot Jim!!
Can not beat the area you are in....It just amazes me that people lived up in there couple hundred years ago...talk about hair of the bear...winters are no slouch season in Vermont...you had an accident up there...you might not be found well, till you come along a couple hundred years later...LOL....great video...
Haha well said David!
like Red Beard, I enjoyed your videography, as well!! To see the flora and fauna of Vermont is quite stunning, along with walking through the historic homesites makes your channel worth 100K subs!! Gotta get the word out!!
Thanks, tell your friends!
Beautiful buckle & huge coat button, throw in a few Indians, a harmonica reed , suspender clip and an ox knob and I’d call that a good day. Nice flower pics too! 😎 GB&HH!
I learned a lot from this hunt. Very educational & well done! Thanks for sharing. God Bless & Happy Hunting!
Glad to hear that Katie, thanks for watching!
Green Mountain Metal Detecting ❤️
The red trilium sure LOOKS pretty!
We have trillium on the west coast it's white and blooms in Feb or March . As it ages it turns purple . I don't know if they smell like dead meat. I have some in my yard I'll have to smell them next year . Love your adventures.
Garter holder, holds up stockings. Maybe socks.
Will you venture back up the mountain to the first spot someday? Great video work- you and Hans from Germany are my 2 favorite metal detector/videographers to watch. Beautiful scenery, interesting finds and educational information!! Thanks for all of your hard work!!
Thanks Michele, I hope to later this summer!
Awesome jumbo finds. Sad but brave story behind the button.
Cool coin spill and I just love the knee buckle. A bucket lister for me.
nice that you take time to smell the flowers
Another great vid . . . always look forward to GMMD ! Here in Ontario the trillium is our Provincial flower . . .99.9 % are white & the odd pink one. . . but the red ones are practically non existent in my area ! You are the first time I've heard the name ramps . . . up here we usually call them leeks & the wife eats them every spring . . . In bed at night I tell her to roll over & breathe in the other direction . . . lol !!
Haha! Interesting!
Hey Brad, cool hunt, and thanks for the botany lesson! My wife is really into identifying wildflowers-I bet she'd never let me in the house with a fistful of stinking Benjamins. lol. The one little object at 5:10 looks like part of a garter clasp. HH
Haha thanks for watching Charlie!
so well produced-Vermont is gorgeous
Thanks Monica!
Great video as always. It's to bad you got rained out on that first spot, but you still made some nice finds. GL & HH
Thank you for all that you are teaching .
That knee buckle is bad ass
Oooo....LOVE the knee buckle! Won't find THAT here in WI...was the elephant button from a child's garment?? So curious....
There isn't much info online, but I believe it to be a button from work overalls!
Great day with some interesting finds, that knee buckle is spectacular, although the idea of a knee buckle seems really bizarre today. I hope you can get back on top again for further exploration. Don't forget to keep your eyes open for a 1909 S VDB wheat penny, Thank goodness the return trip was downhill.
Thanks Eric! One of the Indians was a 1909, but no S unfortunately!
Hello from northern Vt.Nice video. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.
I love how you capture the beauty of the landscape
I do my best, Pat!
Awesome hunt Brad!
That was gross about the meat flower. :p You should go back to both those sites. Good digs, should be some silver and gold around there. Keep @ it and HH!
New to you’re channel. Very much enjoy you and your film work ! Fantastic scenery and finds. I’ll be watching. Keep up the great work
Great to hear Jeff, thanks a lot!
Awesome! Thanks Brad. I look forward to your videos, my favorite is GMMD!
Thanks so much!
Again beautiful locations and story. Thanks for sharing Your great adventures. Greetings from WW2HistoryHunter.
WW2HistoryHunter love your videos as well!
Yes, that's no men's garterbelt clasp! I am sixty-six, and old enough to have actually worn one. Lol
Me too!
loved your video! what a great idea about the larger rocks in the area, i never thought about it!
Hey Brad, enjoy your videos, always some nice cinematography. Question, what what percent of land owners want to keep the artifacts you find?
I think it is a toss up : like the views of nature as much as the items found.
I am new. Do you gps your sites for future reference? Maybe map with hit spots too? Maybe the property owners would like to see that. Your nature stuff is such a bonus in your videos.
I sure do Patti!
Congrats on another great adventure with some colonial relics and a few IHPs. HH. Sebastian
Another interesting hunt, love the coin spill!
I grew up about 15 miles from where Jumbo died having been hit by a train. The city erected a statue of him - he truly was Jumbo sized!
Another fun video to watch. Thanks for sharing.
In St Thomas, Ontario there is a life sized bronze replica of "Jumbo" the elephant, who was hit by a train. As the story goes he was protecting a smaller elephant called tiny Tim, and charged moving the steam locomotive. Jumbo was part of a traveling rail circus visiting in that day the small town of St Thomas. And as we know everything large is a Jumbo size.
The smaller elephant was named Tom Thumb.
Interesting! Thanks for the history!
Nice hunt - great small cents!
Excellent video! I wish I knew about this channel before. I subbed ya. Are you in New Hampshire it sounds like you have a New England accent. I'm from Maine myself and I love metal detecting and coin collecting. It definitely sounds like you know your stuff and that's cool. Dave from Maine.
Thanks Dave! I’m from the Green Mountain State, Vermont!
Knee buckle! Can’t believe no bike shot? Ever hit any sweet jumps with it?
Love your videos- Great adventures and so exciting to see your finds!
You gotta go back and find the wall and cellars the land owner says the hunters talk about
Yet another great hunt and video, my friend! Congrats!
Love your channel. I watched every video, love your journeys an finds. keep the coming...
Thanks so much!
Some great finds. Thanks.
That's funny, because bicycles make deeper ruts than quads do.
you better look out carrying that beef jerkey through the forest... sasquatch might smell it. lol.
We go a long way back, I'd give him a bite
Awesome elephant button , different that is for sure
Out of curiosity, what do you do with the garbage you find? You do travel a good distance at a time. Here in Canada the coins and attracts are or give different signals, so your not quite sure what you are going to dig up. Gold ring as pull tabs and silver dollars a beer can. Alot of crap to get the collectables. Still great. Just asking.
At 6:13, that looks like a lace cap hydrangea. I love those! You are definitely at an old home site.
Love your videos! Just one question; do you have venomous snakes in Vermont? Everywhere you are looking would be ideal habitat for copperheads here in Alabama. I cringe when I see some of the places you put your hands. If you tried that in the spring in Alabama you could expect a trip to the ER and several doses of antivenin!
People down south mention that often, we don't have anything venomous in Vermont. Just ticks!
Can you link the beginning music please? Excellent song, and quality content you have here!
Thanks! It’s titled “ancient fire” on www.GMMD.us
@@GMMD Thank you!!
Love your chatter! Great adventure!
Thank you for sharing.
great vid. The stinking benjamin story gave me a good chuckle
Great video mate and some cool finds ... 👍👍👍
