Thanks Dirk, It really is fun!!!!. And, its very satisfying to fly something you design and build. You really should join the Facebook group, "RC Foam Core Wings". There's some really good material and ideas there. In addition, I'm building a web site, rcfoamcorewings.com . It should be running in a few days.
Yep. That's correct. It also helps me guage just how thick my epoxy layer is. Obviously, the darker the color, the thicker the layer of epoxy. If that's the case, I just run the roller over it to move it to another area. Depending on the application, We may want more or less epoxy. It does help to see that its thoroughly mixed as well. It has absolutely no effect on the epoxy so its safe to use. Some colors work better than others. I like red and blue. That's a great question. I'll make a note to discuss some of those points.
I am like many who hate and refuse to use FB. Is it not posibble to use one of the popular rc forums ? I would imagine a post in the most appropreiate catagory will get the guys interested following then the moderators could with luck start a dedeicater catagory???? i do not have the tools or room or skill to do this BUT still really enjoy watching this series, thanks
Im sorry but I don't have the time, patience or desire to deal with those forums. In my experience, they are with littered with 20 idiots who simply want to hear themselves speak for every one guy who is legitimately asking for or providing information. My fb group is very small by design. If you dont answer my questions satisfactorily, I dont admit you. If you hint toward anything other than productive and narrowed conversations about our topic (foam core planes) I boot you out. I hate fb as well but sadly, its the best forum to supplement my channel. Once groups get over 1,000 members, they tend to take a life of their own. The moderators have very little control as the numbers just to great and the workload increases.
foam core ... 90% of scratch builds are foam core ... in Canada that crap is expensive and CRAP .... metal and wood are cheaper and easier to locate and work with ... how about doing a proper cad deisgn (with stress flow analysis) and properly design an RC plane in cad then build it using metal like aluminium .... yes AluminIUM ... the american version without the extra I is a trade mark name ... from reynolds manufacturing for aluminum foil wrap made with aluminium .... since you cant trade mark a common element or proper name ... and aluminium is just that NOT trade markable ...
Those wings are a lot of work.but they are looking great.
The dog is wondering , when are we going flying.
Thank you! Your video helped a lot!
Thank you so much for all the effort you have put into this. You have completely changed how I will build in future.

Is the dye you add to your epoxy just to make it easier to see where it’s been applied, and how evenly it’s been applied?
