Great close up pics. And as always great description and instructions. I need to go Robart hinges. So many ARFs come with CA hinges , i hate those hinges. I ruined a F6F 15cc wing trying to glue the CA hinge without the reduced cap on the bottle of Super Thin CA. Oh boy no control! Right thur hinge gap. It ran all over the bottom of the wing. Ruin the covering. I just paid for a new right wing . Your video makes perfect sense. Better hinge and e-poxy glue. Thanks for showing me better way.
Absolutely!!! They come in three sizes that I know of: 3/16, 1/8, and tiny. I use the 1/8 on glow .46 size glow and 3/16 on everything else. Except the Gnat wing. It's life expectancy is too short to worry about it. I just use CA hinges in those planes. Perfect example ruclips.net/video/866nCO42ogo/видео.html
Mike, I know how it goes perfect when you build without video, and when you turn on the camera and mistakes happen. I am glad you didn't edit that out. All builders have little mistakes but the good builders like you know how to fix them. Keep up the good work and great videos.
Thanks Tom. I had been out of the shop for about three weeks. I've never been away for that long. I guess I was so excited to be "playing" again that I got ahead of myself.
A rotery fabric cutter works great for cutting fiberglass. There is a plastic self healing mat that you can get to go with it. Both are available at the fabric store.
Yep. I used them several years ago. It's just not as quick. I bought a very high end cutter from the fabric store. I'll use it in the next video and talk about the pros and cons.
I hope to soon start offering a "short kit" version. Basically, all of the vacuum and router work has been done. You build it out from there and will be responsible for installation of the leading and trailing edges, hinges, fuse assembly and all hardware. I may offer landing gear depending on costs. Many guys already have a suitable gear on hand. Again, the idea is to keep costs as low as possible. Unlike modern ARFs, It's a very labor intensive build process. Of course, that's where the durability comes from.
Mike...You know your channel is like "Days of our Lives" but for guys!
The problem is that we need to wait longer for the new episode! 😀😀😀
