- Hello everybody and welcome to Bull Technology. On October 7, 2022, EA launched their new digital distribution platform-known as the EA App-as a replacement for their much hated Origin Launcher. Upon its release, many were excited that EA was finally discontinuing the aging and incredibly unreliable Origin Launcher and replacing it with something new. But after over a year in the sunlight, it’s clear that the EA App is an utter disaster-with many users begging EA to bring back Origin. From a lack of features, to a poor design, to an unbelievable level of brokenness, the EA App-the supposed next generation of PC gaming-is a complete failure. So today we explore unbelievable nightmare that is the EA App, and what EA must do to fix their broken app.

EA app is horrible on 2022 nearing chrismas I bought mass effect legendary with the thought of playing it to make my xmas. worse christmas ever.
yeah and how they all wanted to go back, its almost like EA got fed up with the critisims and made the new one worse just to spite everyone lmao.
Back when the app was relatively new, it also just didn't have Sims 3 on it. Contacted support, and they just told me to use Origin for launching Sims 3 until it's moved over. 😂

@@bull_technology Also thinking about it now, I wonder what’s up with the people that still have TS2 digitally… Do they just have to use Origin forever? Really would be surprised if that’s available on the new app…
@crugg I honestly don’t know. I’d imagine it’s not, given that it runs in 32 bit. The whole situation is just a mess when it comes to the Sims. You have EA still selling TS3 and all the expansions all full price (even though the game doesn’t work properly on newer hardware), the Sims 4 being sold even though some users report the app preventing them from playing the game, and the Sims 5 on the horizon even though they haven’t fleshed out the issues with the app as it sits. Gross
If EA wanted to "fix" their app,
they should just get rid of it.

Wow I totally passed that up. What an unbelievable oversight on the part of EA
The EA app actually deleted my whole games folder that was over 1TBs when I tried to uninstall a game, all files completely unrecoverable btw.
Found out far to late that it was because some games on the app don't create their own folders and will just dump their loose game files in whatever the default download folder is, and unlike Steam the EA app's uninstaller just deletes EVERYTHING in the folder the game was downloaded to, regardless of if the files in that folder are for that game or were downloaded from the app.
So there's a chance that the EA app could brick your whole computer if you only have one drive and aren't careful of where the games it installs are. Thanks EA!
Wow, that's completely unreal. Yet another instance of the EA app being complete garbage. You'd think this is a basic kink that they'd work out… But I suppose with EA, the depth of stupidity is truly limitless.
This sadly just happened to me because the fucking app could not repair a game that installed incorrectly. So it was advised to reinstall it. And basically my entire storage space just got nukes.
@@panzermaus664 I feel your pain, brother. If you aren't using an SSD there is still a chance you might be able to salvage some of your files.
If a game requires a special launcher I just pirate the game instead. I wish Steam would not allow games using external launchers period.
I agree! Steam allowing external launchers beats the purpose of having Steam in the first place.
I still can’t believe I bought The Sims 4 on Steam only for it to launch Origin in the background. Nasty.
I wish Steam would let you own games you've bought, instead of a licence to play the game.
EA still uses origin, which is still stupid. I'm not going to be forced to create an account, to play a single player offline game.

The EA app will randomly open itself when I am in the middle of anything including an intense gaming sessions while I am playing even when my computer has been on for over 3 days. Additionally the EA app will always ask me to enter my login info again even when I select "Remember me" every time. On top of that every time I have to login to the EA app due to it not remembering my PC it asks me to reset my password due to security reasons, this happens multiple times a week if I have an EA game I am actively playing. And no I do not use a VPN or anything similar.
All of these issues have been consistent problems in the EA app ever since its inception years ago and nothing has ever been done to fix any of this. At this point I now have uninstalled the app and pirate any EA game I have the displeasure of playing.
Over the one year period that the EA app has been released, the Origin app has been updated to *REMOVE* functionality to practically force you to move to the EA App anyways. For example, most of my Sims 4 packs weren't downloading today, even clicking the Download button did jack squat!!
Yes! EA sneakily crippled the Origin launcher after their roll out of the EA app was complete. Origin just simply doesn't work anymore. This wouldn't be an issue if the new app worked… but it doesn't. Pathetic.
I haven't played the game for months because the app is broken. I finally got the game to launch after repeated cycles of repair, uninstall, and reinstall. So I can launch the game, but it's missing three DLC packs that I already paid for. The app just tells me that I own this content already and don't need to download it. Yet the other DLC is available to me; just not these three specific purchases. After 20 years of fighting with technical difficulties, and buying game content that costs up to $1,000 USD, I give up. I spend more time trying to maintain the game than playing it.
Wow that unbelievably terrible. Not only does EA charge over $1000 for the full complete Sims game, but because of their broken app you can't even play the game you paid over a grand for--what a joke.
It's currently happening to me right now I have 32 add on which contain dlc packs and so on and I can't even play any of my paid dlc packs
Ridiculous. I had a similar issue for about a month with my SimCity expansion packs not showing up… and then suddenly they appeared last month.
Please stop hating on a small indie company like Ea.

Apps/Launchers like this is why I primarily use Steam.
All the other launchers other than steam don't or barely try to be a decent store front.
Like from the look of things the closest to steam it is GOG and Epic that are the closest and those are planets away from Steam.
Which is surprising because you'd think GOG would care a lot more for having good interfaces.
But,I guess they want an archaic storepage like some of their games.
I don't think I have ever fully opened the EA App yet since the change from Origin as well.
But games on gog are drm free which is why if a game is avilable on both platform i would like to buy it on gog

the ea app always goes through phases where it tells me that my password is allegedly wrong... when i reset it, it works again but the next day its allegedly wrong again...
I've noticed that too! I suppose add this issue to the numerous bugs with the app. The app also constantly signs me out for some reason--even when I have the "remember login" option checked. Utter garbage
I have the EA app on my pc and had it for awhile now. I have some issues with it myself as other people have. Twice I hsvr hsd to RE-sign my self back in because og this EA app. If EA is going to make things like this,they really should make sure they work properly first before they put it out. I wil say from my expierence of useing the EA app it IS VERY buggy.
As for Origin, It MAY had some problems here and there, but it generally WORKED

With the EA app, but I really MISS origin and WANT it BACK. I had LESS problems with origin then I did with the EA app too.

I’ve had the awful sign-in issues too… it’s a pain to resolve and I shouldn’t need to sign into the app multiple times if I have the remember login option marked.
The buggyness is unreal and completely unacceptable. It’s crazy just how broken the app is for being out for over a year! It feels like every time I use the app is crashes at least once.
Origin was a bad app, but yes, it did at least work. I feel like EA should allow users to download and use Origin until they get the EA app functional.
Playing BF1 through the old Origin launcher was so smooth and seemless.

9:16. EA already is paying Valve royalties just like everyone else. 30% of every purchase.
Steam launches EA/Epic because the files to download the games are not on Valve's servers. All the EA-only games recently added to Steam are simply portal-pages that allow the reach of Steam market but Valve and EA split the profits while each party use their own server infrastructures. This is much easier than forcing developers of old legacy titles to completely rewrite parts of their games to work with Steam network. It's a quick and easy win-win for both sides.
Well this is only true for the games that EA chooses to sell on Steam. Most EA games are released as EA App/Origin exclusives to start. Take the Sims 4 as an example, only recently was this available on Steam.
For these games though-yes-EA games on Steam are simply portal games.
My point in the video is that EA should simply stop using a standalone launcher application like many other games on Steam.
You know you need to fix your app when even just installing it for the first time ever is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE due to the bugginess, come on ea, where's the respect you had for your playerbase pre 201X? It still has to be in you somewhere.
Sadly those days of respect are long gone. It appears as if everything EA touches now is ruined by greed and incompetence--the EA App is just one example.

The good news about Origin's demise was the comeback of EA games to Steam.
I don't understand why people would think that Origin being replaced by a new app made by the same company (the greedy hands of EA no less) would solve its issues, really.
I can't even log into the app now. It used to at least allow me to log in (although I had to do it EVERY time). Now it won't even connect to the servers. It's unbelievable.
Yeah I've had similar problems where the app will log me out and not allow me to log back in... it's just another great feature of the app...

I can see this video is many months old and still ea has done nothing. I can't install and log in so i can do nothing. And the worst, ea app says it is installed already when i try to install the app, but the ea background.exe is not anywhere. This is crazy and ea is bullshit.

I really enjoyed downloading a game, realising it's in Polish for some reason, then having to redownload the whole game again to change the language. Then I launched the game and realised I can't load any saves because they were made with a deluxe content addon that the app just refuses to download

ea is not letting me do my updates. tells me its a error and for me to try back later. I did all they thng sugguested, and still cant play.
Yeah for some reason updates are yet something else that seem to be broken with the EA App. I had an issue where it couldn't connect to the update severs but eventually connected after a week of supposed 'downtime'. I'm not really sure what the issue is... it's just another example of this terrible App.
I switched back to the old Origin client as the new EA app will not launch the game. I have no desire to use the EA app and will probably not purchase any more EA games until they fix the problem.

Watching this because currently my EA app thinks I don't have an internet connection so I can't play my game that I purchased in steam.
I've had connectivity issues like this in the past with the EA App--no idea why... but it seems like something they should've figured out on launch!
I wanted to install NFS Most Wanted 2012 and play it. It installed, but I cannot launch it. The game wants to be activated, although I've played it in the past, and wants me to put in credential. Despite entering correct email and password app says that they're not correct and cannot activate the game. You are preventing people from playing games they've paid for!
Indeed… this gets into class-action-lawsuit territory. At the very least we should be able to play the games we pay for.

please push this everyday to mainsstream media! THE TITANFALL 1 SERVERS ARE STILL LIVE! Everytime I try to start the game, the entire screen goes large and the game fills the bottom right of the screen then the EA App just crashes back to its home page :(

Plenty of others have left comments expressing the same issue. It's incredible the EA can get away with this. Users spend hundreds of dollars on their games, and yet they can't play them because of this terrible app. What an absolute joke.

ive been slaving away trying to get all the achievements for mass effect legendary edition which takes around 50 hours to complete... The achievement tracking doesnt work at all so basically ive been wasting my time for nothing :)

I bought mass effect legendary edition on steam, having forgotten that bioware was bought by EA.
I had a polisy of never buying anything EA again. which had served me just fine.
The game worked so I thought:'whatever' until the stupid EA app updated and decided to crash and piss itself. Too late for a refund ofcourse.
Gods above do I despise EA They are the absolute pinnacle of sleeze. Exploiting genuine creative people. Just...ugh.

Indeed, it seems to slip in secondary applications like the "EA Helper" and other strange additions. Further, yes, for some reason the default setting is to constantly have the application open and it open on launch! I assume this is so EA can collect telemetry data on users... gross!
I'd be content with this terrible app if it at least let me properly start up the games I bought and paid for, but it won't. Games suddenly break and for no apparent reason refuse to launch from one day to the other, with zero changes to drivers, peripherals or anything else.

Honestly… If you can purchase the games on another platform I would try that. I wasn't able to lunch The Sims 4 (or 3) from the EA app, yet it worked perfectly on Steam. This is absolutely ridiculous on EA's part. Add the bare minimum we should be able to play games we paid for.

I tried to open my origin account in the Ea app, however the launcher claimed there was no account under my E-mail so i just created a new account under the same E-mail, now i have no games and even found my origin account under the Users, so now i just wonder what the actual fuck is going on.
