Top run and video. 😎 I also got a 90 ZR-1 (stock), but never had the chance to go topspeed yet. I wonder what the real top speed is. There is no reliable info about it. I want to proof it soon on the Autobahn here in Germany before a speed limit comes. I guess the ZR-1 could run even much more than 290 kmh / 180 mph. But for sure it needs a long time and many kilometers free run because of the long ratio. Of course usually nobody has that perfect conditions in real life. Most of the known top speed runs of owners or car magazines (similar as your high speed test) had limited space to find out what the real topspeed peak is. From a US guy that owned over one dozens of C4 ZR-1s I heard that EVERY C4 ZR-1 he had (no matter of it was stock or not and what model year) he brought to exactely 189 mph = 304 kmh (then the rev limiter came at 7200-7300 rpms). The only difference was the time the respective car needed to reach that speed. Sounds plausible considering that a stock ZR-1 reached already 175 mph of average speed during the 24 h FIA world record run in 1989. So in view of this the real topspeed peak has to be much more than the average 175 mph and could be indeed over 187 mph / 300 kmh. Also keep in mind, the slogan is life begins at 180 mph - not that it ends all with 180 mphs 😜
Hi thank's for the comment yes you will need a long run up my car is still gaining speed have had it to 296.31km or 184mph would love to have a go at sea level on a cool day not sure about the revs the engine is doing but the shift light isn't on so it's below 6500rpm at 296.31km so have more to go just not sure how much more the engine will pull I have minor top end porting I made my own headers and exhaust system a Hibeck chip aluminum flywheel and have dump valve behind the diff so open exhaust when do the high speed runs would love to get my car onto the auto barns to see what it would tap out to
Much quicker than the ute you brought this year Glenn good to meet you appreciated the advice and look forward to cracking the 300 mark with you in 2022
Nice video. What’s the specs on the course? How far from start line to the speed trap? Length of shut down area? Is this event held regularly. Wish we had something similar in Australia
Might as well wear shorts and a t shirt. If you crash that car at those speeds into those trees, it won’t matter how good of a helmet or suit you have.
You guys ever worry about deer or other animals crossing on these country roads? Really enjoying your video series, running this beast flat out. Awesome car.
Yea defiantly gonna wear the clutch out fast and I wouldn’t be downshifting it while going that fast. Let the engine rev down a bit before downshifting. It’s an old car, things break easily
A tire letting go on that road is almost guaranteed death
Awesome DOHC V8 music though!! 😎
@Fleetwoodjohn yes a tire going out wouldn't be good but we do have to live
That is one sweet machine..... Gotta love to hear it exercise, ain't nothing out there anywhere sounds as good as this Corvette...
Thanks does sound good
@@glencollins4962 It doesn't get any better... very nice machine..
Life begins at 180 mph. Love my '94 ZR-1. Its a driver. Best I've done is 154 on the highway. Really need a road like that or track.
Yes so they say
That sound is what a Veyron wants to be when it grows up!
yea na this car sounds mint but a veyron is a w16, sounds so much better
Veyron much faster, so no
@@angry_z_rider4275 the corvette Callaway set a higher record than the Veyron back in 1988, go look it up!
Yup
@@iflipburger5218 haven't heard one
Lots of woods there, if a deer jumps out on the road......watchout🤔
Yes but lot's of noise and in New Zealand we don't have deer like you do in America
@@glencollins4962 Is my idols shop still standing ( Burt Munro ) in New Zealand? I would have given anything to meet him what a World Hero💪👏

Thanks Rudy yes alot quicker than the ute and would enjoy racing with you again would like to beat the 300 km make
What distance was that start to finish? Sounds really good!
6.5kms Thanks for the comment
Hauling ass would be an understatement. Nice run.
Thank's for the comment and yes it gets going
Wonder how fast i could get the Callaway up to on that run? It's got a shade over 450 horses, should be able to get an easy 280kph
@CaseTheCorvetteMan Hi yes you should be able to
How much HP at the flywheel? Have you gotten any closer to 200 mph?
Hi 430hp roughly car's off the road at the moment so need to get it back together then I plan on doing so more work to the engine
292 with gear miss.. nice run dude
Thank's my best is 296.31km or 184mph
That 5th gear is a funky one…I do it occasionally.
Can't imagine how fast he would have gone had he banged it into 6th.
Hi slower as the engine hasn't got enough torque to turn 6th gear

6.5kms long 2.5kms run up 1/4 timing and 2.5kms run down

Wow that's really flying!
Thanks Yes it getting up there
I’ve always loved this series of corvette. The only one I’d consider buying. I need to test drive one and maybe could replace the Aston...
I love the American cars and Corvettes are my favorite sports car
You guys ever worry about deer or other animals crossing on these country roads? Really enjoying your video series, running this beast flat out. Awesome car.
No need to worry about animals the farmers have cleared the area glad you enjoyed the videos
Down shift game needs work. Cool car though

@@chainsawmanny maybe I like the sound of it or maybe that's how I drive
I wonder if he was pissed for missing that gear....Still went fast as hell though. Good stuff.
Hi no wasn't worried about it was still a good run
What road is this and how long is it?!
Goudies road
Is that mph or kph?
Kph,it’s New Zealand
very long 5th gear wow
Still a little more in it
Thing is my $15,000 motorcycle will do 167 as far as I know. So bikes more cost effective.
Yes
Who cares about a bike? Lol
