  • In this video Toon takes you on a walk through of West Kensington, Fairhill Badlands and the outskirts of the notorious Kensington Ave where the notorious opioid crisis is at its peak. Kensington ave is considered the Walmart of Heroin. People from all across the country visit Kensington because of the potency of its illegal substances. However, Toon does not capture footage under the avenue and explains why he doesn't glorify that area in 2021.
    The Philadelphia Badlands is a section of North Philadelphia and Lower Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, that is known for an abundance of open-air recreational drug markets and drug-related violence.[1] It has amorphous and somewhat disputed boundaries, but is generally agreed to include the 25th police district.[2]
    Usually, it is widely understood to be an area between Kensington Avenue to the east and Broad Street to the west, and between Hunting Park Avenue to the north and York Street to the south, mostly coinciding with the neighborhoods of Fairhill, Glenwood, Hunting Park, Harrowgate, Stanton, North Central, West Kensington, Hartranft, and Kensington.
    The term "The Badlands" was popularized in part by the novel Third and Indiana by then Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Steve Lopez.[1] The neighborhood also was featured in several episodes of ABC's Nightline. The intersection of 3rd Street and Indiana Avenue was listed number two in a 2007 list of the city's top ten drug corners according to an article by Philadelphia Weekly reporter Steve Volk.[3]
    The term Badlands was first used by Lt. John Gallo, who headed the East Division Narcotics Task Force[citation needed]. Its use spread, with many people attempting to take credit for the moniker. It was Gallo's work along with ASAC Billy Retton that worked about a dozen long-term investigations in the 25th and 26th Police Districts that preceded "Operation Sunrise". Ted Koppel, Geraldo Rivera, 20/20 and 48 Hours all rode with Gallo at one time or another, and it was during this time that Gallo was able to make the name stick.[citation needed]
    At one time a center of heavy industry, much of the Badlands' urban landscape is now characterized by vacant warehouses and tightly-packed strips of brick row houses constructed for the working class of the neighborhood. Like most industrial cities in the eastern United States, Philadelphia suffered economic decline following the movement of industry to either the suburbs or developing countries and has suffered as a result.
    The Philadelphia Badlands contain a diverse mix of ethnicities. Puerto Ricans are the largest group,[4][5][6][7] but the area also contains large populations of Black Americans, Irish Americans, and Dominican Americans. The area encompasses El Centro de Oro, the heart of Philadelphia's Puerto Rican community. [8] Although much of the area's crime stems from local neighborhood-based street gangs and the drug trade, larger, more organized gangs also operate in the area, including the Black Mafia, Latin Kings, and various motorcycle gangs.[8]
    Kensington is a neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its placement within the broader division of sections of Philadelphia is debated, but it is often considered as a dividing line between or belonging to both the Lower Northeast section of Philadelphia and North Philadelphia. It is generally considered part of the Philadelphia River Wards. Modern Kensington is larger than the former Kensington District, and unlike Kensington District it does not include Fishtown. As with all neighborhoods in Philadelphia, the lack of any official designation means the boundaries of the area vary between sources and over time. Traditionally, Kensington is known for its large working class Irish Catholic community. Kensington was the location of the Philadelphia Nativist Riots in the 19th century.[2] Kensington is also the birthplace of the K&A Gang, (currently known as the Northeast Philly Irish Mob), an Irish American organized crime network. Originally, Kensington was also home to a large English American community. For example, the six Episcopal parishes in the neighborhood (Emmanuel, Free Church of St. John, Good Shepherd, St. Ambrose, St. Luke's, and St. Nathanael's) were founded by 19th-century immigrants from England.
    Along with Irish Americans, Kensington is also home to a large population of Hispanic Americans (mainly Puerto Ricans, Dominicans), African Americans, and Polish Americans. The neighborhood has also recently seen a large influx of young urban professionals and gentrification.[3]

      So Robin, toon 215 determines what is too much for him, he's successful because he does what others are NOT WILLING TO DO! That is why people stated that I was successful in my early 20s with determination, creativity and tenacity.. Actually when I owned my newspaper stand at Ridge & Huntingdon Sts at age 10 willing to be counted on being ill, freezing weather, opportunities of having fun, I decided that my customers who counted on being at the traffic signal on a red light could buy a newspaper for a only 5 cents. Toon215 take that to a new level at age 33 being a Vlogger! Maybe you will support Toon215 effort and cheer him to greater heights! Thank you!

      @TOON215  3 года назад +1

      I’m born and raised in Philly and still reside here till this day. I can tell your not from this area if you don’t know cambrias history and saying Kensington is worse, that’s inaccurate, your basing it off of what you see via the world wide web(RUclips) Those several blocks you see under the el only became problematic within the last 3+ years. I’ve been documenting it on
      My channel since it got bad. Cambria has had a history of shootings, fights , drugs and more for the last 30-40 years, you weigh out the difference, Kensington was once a thriving business district when cambria was still the slums.
      But wait I think you want me to walk under the el? Here you go 🙏🏼

    • @TOON215
      @TOON215  3 года назад +8

      The el is NOT the badlands. You obviously not from around this way 😂😂😂 the badlands consists of several neighborhoods from north philly. Fairhill, Glenwood, Hunting Park, Harrowgate, Stanton, North Central, West Kensington, Hartranft, and Kensington....with that being said we walked through west Kensington, fairhill and Kensington in this video, 3 different neighborhoods. The roughest area of the badlands is NOT KENSINGTON, it’s Fairhill. That’s where all the crime happens. Just because you see substance abusers under the el doesn’t mean it’s the worst,
      I’ve did several videos walking under the el, driving, scooting, wheelying and more. You must of not watched the whole video and listen to the part when I said I’m not interested in glorifying what’s under that 7 block strip in 2021. But wait....at the end of the video. Where do I walk to go home. Straight under the el, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
      Thanks for investing your time in supporting with a comment. Have a blessed day.

    • @Paulphila215

      The El is definitely not The Badlands! The Badlands as I’ve always known it was from just North of Allegheny to just South of Lehigh, and from west of Kensington Ave to about 7th or 8th St. I never really knew the western boundary, but I know it’s definitely past 5th St.
