I have a question…Did Joseph Kennedy (JFK’s dad) have any regrets about what happened to his sons (Joe ran with the Mafia back in The Prohibition Era) knowing he might’ve made a mistake having in turn Sam Giancana endorse JFK?
@@youngtruthspitta3655 Regrets about his sons I’m sure he did. But I’m talking about Rosemary Kennedy his daughter it was cruel twist of fate for her he had to felt guilt & shame for what he did to her.

Fortunately, Rosemary was placed in St. Coletta’s, in Jefferson, Wi. St. Coletta’s had a strong emphasis on faith, and was one of the nation’s best care facilities. Few people knew where Rosemary lived in 1963. My family knew only because my dad’s sister also resided at St. Coletta’s. Rosemary passed away in 2005, and was buried in the Kennedy family plot at Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, Massachusetts. From what I have read, President Kennedy last visited Rosemary in 1958, when he was still a Senator.
@@tomdurso6009 It was a disaster, yes. I think it's important to note though that this act never received full funding. The Community Mental Health Centers Act called for 1,500 centers to be built, but only about half of them were created. Also when Reagan took office, what was left of its funding was converted into generic block grants which means states didn't need to spend the $ on making additional mental health centers. That's not to say all of the issues were funding related, though. There were other issues related to lack of regulatory infrastructure. Some of the mental health centers created by it weren't able to properly serve those with serious mental illness. Despite these other shortcomings though it's still frustrating to see acts like this not be implemented as fully intended due to funding bs - especially with how much money this country can waste on other things.
@@MikolajTheCat "Also when Reagan took office,..." Reagan is always the scapegoat used to ignore the cause and real remedy for JFK's mistake. As you post, the states took that money and spent mental health funds on other issues, like getting re-elected. The US government has plenty of money for immigrants, but darn little funding for the mentally ill. As LBJ once said, "...the crazy don't vote".

Okay, that's just weird. Millions of Americans live with all sorts of animals, in and outside of cities. No evidence that I know of indicates this, OP. I worked with horses all my life, grew up on a farm, and knew tons of people who grew up on farms (around animals, and most had indoor dogs) went to college, became doctors, lawyers, engineers, mathematicians, etc. Absolutely NO evidence being around animals leads to or contributes to mental retardation. Many different diseases can lead to fetal distress, problems in-utero, and most have nothing at all to do with proximity to animals. Some do--most do not. Good grief.

Those were the moments in jfk times along with martin Luther King rfk and malcom x were all real leaders
Another example that JFK was ahead of his time. I wonder if his initiative here was influenced by his sister who had mental health issues.
This act led to massive deinstitutionalization and the homeless crisis we have today. I guess you call that a success?
Exactly right. The state system should have been improved not abandoned. This act has been a disaster @chech5774
