The rogue bands (and my favorites from elite fts) aren't labeled with weight because they are used mainly for powerlifting. When you speed bench they have a different weight than when speed squatting. Elite fts has a calibration chart for this.
I’m with you on the the elite fts bands. They are stronger than the rest, and I like that they have a grip about them, and that they don’t have gloss finish.
I love UnderSun resistance bands. Started using them when Covid shut gyms down and use them still in my home gym. Their price is fair and they warranty their bands for life!
Wow you guys have barely scratched the surface on this one. As far as band systems you have the gorilla bow, the teslang and Danskin, the X3 bar, Zeno gym, and crossover fitness. You really need to break down the bands by different styles, because you have the tube bands the thera-bands the loop bands and the mini loops. Depending on which band manufacturer you get the bands from is going to determine the quality of the band. As far as loop bands go, you have set for set, committed HP, gym reapers, ProSource fit, valor fit, under Sun, serious, iron Woody, teslang and Damskin, rogue, aromat elite, shelter, wod fitters, x3, trx, clench, power systems, pro Maxima, or and rubber bandits. With the 41 inch loop bands you can test the stink test the low end resistance test and the high-end resistance test and see if the variable range is what matches what's listed the material it's made from and the number of layers. Then you can do a series on which band handles are actually best to use with the 41 inch loop bands there are plenty of them out there. Also a series of which band anchors are best. Testing the wall mount versus rack mount Then you can also do a review of machines that use rubber band resistance like the soloflex, Bowflex Revolution, and the Oyo. The resistance bands are so versatile that now pro sports players are adopting the X3 protocol to replace their normal weight resistance training.
I know you guys focus on the garage gym community but you really gotta start showing more love to Elite FTS. Their bands are the best amongst other equipment!
I can indeed verify that buying higher quality bands, especially those with a carabiner on them is worth it. My face paid the ultimate price when I did not inspect the band prior to use and it snapped and the carabiner hit me in the mouth forcing my tooth through my lip. The blood poured all over the gym floor! I looked like a character from a bad lifetime movie for quite some time! Don’t be me, buy good bands and inspect them frequently!
Would have loved to see a review and recommendations on the various fabric hip circle bands that are out there as well as a review and recommendations on handles to use with bands. Bands were a lifesaver for me at the beginning of the pandemic and are the mainstay of any prehab/rehab. I use my EliteFTS bands daily.
Solid episode, but my critique of the video is the fitness trainer portion of using the bands /common mistake as it feels like a low hanging fruit to play on the RUclips algorithm. Feels like a missed opportunity to explain how to use with your weights/rack as most comes with those rack pins as I believe most people don’t really utilize it or feel knowledgeable about the process as I’m guilty of it myself. Or, possibly explain how it break from going over the stretch length limits as most bands aren’t supposed to go to the max stretch and some are only supposed to stretch 2-3x their length as you need to use a higher resistance band to handle that resistance curve that some are chasing (ie using lighter weight with heavy band vs heavy weight and light band as the light is more likely to break at the end range). That might help people quell their fear of the band breaking on them and therefore get more use of their bands I would like to see a plyo box review. The benefits of wood vs soft or those hybrids one like ab mat.
Hi, GGR folks. Enjoyed the video. The bands I like that you didn’t cover are VRTX Mesh Resistance Bands. Because they’re made out of woven fabric, not solid latex or a similar rubber-like material, they’re much easier on the skin and more pleasant to hold. While I haven’t tried to measure the load rigorously with a load meter, my impression from using them is that the load varies less from the start to the end of move; they seem a bit closer to the constant load of, say, cable machines than other bands do. Check them out.
Not true. I have used them for an entire workout during pandemic shut down of gyms. They may be used for powerlifting but can be used for everything. When I travel I use them for my strongman training. I don’t understand your point…
As mentioned by others, EliteFTS are the best I’ve used. I have Rogue and EliteFTS (bought Rogue first) and will be staying with EliteFTS for now on. Also I’m sure this will be taken wrong but since Coop has been expanding, these videos have lost their touch. They feel rushed in some way (maybe trying to make quicker videos and also using multiple people?) and part of the Garage Gym Review channel appeal for me was Coops personality. I feel like I’ve been handed off to another channel when he’s not the sole reviewer. Bigger isn’t always better just saying.
It's undersun and torrobands (with Sumo option) for me. Best handles and durability. Add the Bodylastics curl bar with 2 large triangle links for the undersun bands and the step platform for a more complete set and you're set.
at 6:30 in the video a claim is made that the Gorilla Bow is expensive, but the only of its kind. Have a look at the Synergee Resistance Bow. It's basically the same thing, and far cheaper.
I've had bodylastics for maybe 10 years. Still functioning, go through periods where i'll use them frequently and times where i'll hardly use them. Good investment
Yeah it was weird. Reviewed a $30 set from Amazon and declared them the best, despite snapping. Huh? Not so much a review as a "show and tell" of the crap they use.
Bodylastic bands have an internal cord so they can’t snap. I disavow the statement “all resistance bands will snap - probably on you.” Not with corded bands. ❤️
I’ve been using my bodylastic bands for about 10 years. They have aged extremely well and are still in terrific condition. I recommend them over anything else for bands with handles.
I have had the GoFit resistance tubes for over a year now and I love them. Great attachments and the resistance is pretty accurate IMO for the listed weights. I have the set that goes from 20-100 LBs
I started back doing resistance band exercises and I kept my bands in a gym bag for quite a few months and 5 of my bands snapped and I bought them on amazon, and I think it was because my apartment gets warm!
This was a great video. I’d love to see more of these 3. I’m guessing Coop wasn’t in this because he wouldn’t be able to recommend some of these options over EliteFTS with a straight face.
You forgot to mention the bands that Coop is getting from expanding this channel. 💵💰🤑 Keep up the great content! Also, thanks for the shoutout on the light resistance bands.
Don’t get the cross over symmetry knock off from Amazon that has the woven black material that covers the colored rubber because it is not stretchy so it stops them from stretching very far. I ended up cutting that material off and it works great now.
Nike probrably makes the best resistance bands. They're fabric covered and the band slides insides the fabric easily unlike other nylon covered resistance bands where the nylon convering easily bunches us. They also have integrated handles
Yes, the hook on the wall, hang them up and don't use them, they'll last their longest until they start detiorating. Ok, I'm been goofy don't mind me. :)
When you see a resistance weight, at what point on the exercise is the resistance equal to the labelled weight? E.g. slack is 0kg, and at full extension will be its absolute max resistance. But at some point in the exercise or band-stretch, the resistance will be the same as labelled - can you help explain? Thanks!
I don't see why absent poundage is a bad thing, I think it's misleading and unhelpful since the first thing people do is try to match their weights with iron to resistance bands which just isn't how it works. I've been enjoying the RBs from clench and undersun, undersun have my favourite smell so far.
great video girls I think i mat get the Rogue handled bands I am 59 and in need of some kind of resistance training this may be ideal for me suffer from arthritis and other aches and pains thx again cheers from Canada
I really tried to keep an open mind for this video but... A) I don't care that the bands smell like rubber. It's an improvement over my funky sweating self during workouts. B) I don't care if the handles squeak a little, I only care if they provide a good grip. C) Did Elite FTS not send you freebies or pay for promotion? D) Don't cheap out on bands, unless you want to go all Harry Reid on your eye.
Yeah, I’ll go ahead and stick with dumbbells for the price of those bands, and nothing will ever happen with a dumbells like they will overtime with the bands.
Don't all bands come from the same couple of Chinese factories? So if you find the right factory, your bands will be cheaper and the exact same quality as the big brands.
I use the Ethos super bands from Dick’s Sporting Goods well before the pandemic. Really great to use after putting them through hell. Still works perfectly fine.
It ain’t a GGR video without quirky humor or funny facial expressions or silliness!!! This video should have shown how to use bands with sqwats and deads. Not everybody has band pegs or a deadlifting platform. For squats at home Next to my rack on each side are a 100lb and 45lb dumbbell on the ground and I put the band around it then over the bar. There are little tricks to ensure equal tension on each side. For deads loop the band over the middle of the bar and stand on each side of the band then lift away. EliteFTS sells these mini bands for deadlifting and those are easy to use too. For what it’s worth I really like the quantum bands from the RBT guy Dave, he’s been selling these online at least 11 yrs and has a physical therapy background a lots of good ideas how to use bands for sports performance. 2 unique things he has are 73 inch long thunder bands- so great for lateral movement drills/ partner drills. Also he shows how instead of looping two bands together for partner drills which can tend to form a really tight knot that’s hard to undo you can take a wide velcro strap and connect the bands with that. That’s sold on the site too. I just ordered my PJF performance 76 inch bands. PJF is the sports performance guy with great videos. These bands he shows how to jump with them anchored to a couple 45’s each side so you dont have to spend thousands on a vertimax machine. They also have a soft coating unlike the 73 inch RBT thunder bands.
Great video! I appreciate the detailed review of different resistance bands. However, this review did not include the LIT Axis smart resistance band. While I understand that it wasn't the focus of this particular video, it's worth mentioning as it offers some unique features that might interest viewers looking for a smart resistance band.
Some comments: I recommend self-anchored exercises, e.g. seated rows against your feet, rather than against an anchor. Lose the shoes for a more secure hold on the band. Be wary of wall mounted anchors - flying metal parts could really make your day. For fine grained progression, loop bands should be 1/4", 1/2", etc, not some weird fractional widths or different thicknesses. That way the resistance is predictable and proportional to the width of the combined bands.
I bought some cheap bullshit from amazon, the kind that attach to a handle, etc but not the brand you showed in the beginning. The color is starting to turn white/pale on them in random spots. No idea if they just do that with time or I should start wearing safety glasses. I'd be interested to know how the Rep bands do against the Rogue bands.
Love my Rogue Monster bands. Need to look into Titan loop bands. They are great for training to keep knees from caving in on squats and making some body weight movements more difficult.
Easy to avoid. Don't buy cheap bands and inspect them every so often to check for any tears. Sure, you could still get whacked, but most of those videos are garbage bands.
Please use gloves if one is getting serious with resistance band training and training to failure. Not fun when releasing/lost control of the stretched bands - the friction can cut one’s palm. I need to change my mechanix work gloves after using for a about year to thicker work gloves after the bands ‘cutting’ holes at the thenar space.
In my old tiny apartment, I used the gorilla bow three times week. In my new condo free weight basement gym, I still use it for warm ups and once a month for my deload Hypertrophy day. Love that thing. There is an issue using just the bands without the actual bow
That wasn’t i expected from the video title (clickbaited).Hope a better video more focus on Quality, durability, band types, resistance tension (compare, measure by a tension device). Training with bands, maybe an interview with James Grage or the “Dr Jaquish, biomedical”. Bands devices is for other video for workout accessories (travel).
4:39 - 5:27 and other times the camera person moves around so much its unpleasant. i dont mind some movement but they way they keep going back and forth, in and out is weird. If im listing to someone talk i do not typically gyrate unless i gotta pee. Band info 5/5, camera work 2/5 sorry.
4:14 What do you mean by ''these smell like a used tire factory'' If the factory isn't used they can't be making tires hence it can not be a ''tire factory'', no? :p
Coop finally went through with the transition I see. Stunning and brave! great video though. I just got some new bands. Those amazon 30 sum dollar ones aren't too bad. I like to use them If I have a workout day but I'm still a bit sore recovering from my weekend ADONIS GOD MODE TEIR WORKOUT.
Any resistance band with carabiners is a disaster waiting to happen. Somehow I was able to twist the band in a way that the carabiner opened and it hit my ankle with full force. Fast flying metal hitting your body is not pleasant.
Coop looks so much more buff in this video, I'm impressed by the gains he's making!
The Coop mustache delete looks great.

Have had my set of EliteFTS bands for several years now. Well worth it and some of the best in the industry

Elite FTS bands can't be used as an on the go functional trainer, they're for powerlifting

If the factory isn't used they can't be making tires hence it can not be a ''tire factory'', no?
:p

Billy Bands. 💪😎
If im not mistaken its not chalk, its corn starch and u can quote me on that ☺️
Hard to say these are the best when Elite FTS nor Westside bands were mentioned…..
COOP!!!! Where's EliteFTS???? Considering they are the godfather of resistance bands!?!?!
It’s not the same when it doesn’t start with “Hey this is coop.” Can’t watch it’s like have a substitute teacher and I’m skipping class.
I wonder why they had a sleeved resistance band, but didn't review it.
EliteFTS? No? Bueller? Bueller?
Coop's Angels
Love the content! I just bought some rogue bands.
Miss Coop!
Why is there pics of Joan with a different name?
Coop looks different in this video. Can't put my finger on why.
He’s a Tran now
It threw me out of balance that you didn't even show the sheathed options.
As a "CarriBeaner" , I don't think thats how you say that LOL
Any resistance band with carabiners is a disaster waiting to happen. Somehow I was able to twist the band in a way that the carabiner opened and it hit my ankle with full force. Fast flying metal hitting your body is not pleasant.
ladies ladies ladies...... review the best hip circles?
