I think leveling the bike off center stand is also helpful. But your tips/tricks for this bike were super helpful.
    Many thanks for posting

I think the oil level should be checked with the bike off the center stand and on level ground. Have someone balance the bike while you check the sight glass. It will make a difference.

Interesting. I'm thinking about getting a Versys x 300 so watching you wrench on it is useful. Good to know about the oil level.

FYI when checking the oil level, the service manual says the bike should sit straight on its wheels, not on the center stand.

I did my 2nd with 800 miles on mine, normal break in. I will do 3rd by 1200 miles after seeing the shavings the oil was more dis-colored probably by clutches breaking in. I'm working on 8-9k rpm now but won't be closing in on redline until after my 3rd change soon. My 15t front sprocket allowed for a quicker break-in/ higher speeds.

Good to know i'm not the only one that is extra cautious with oil changes and break-in!

@@uthe54 3rd oil change at 1300 miles. Although have taken it over 9k, this round, fewer shavings. Oil definitely seemed dirty/cloudy again. I guess I'm good now for 2k. Thanks for the videos.

What kind of foot pegs are those? Where did you get them? Do you like them?

I just posted a new video on my Versys X300 oil change method upgrades. I installed a Fumoto engine oil pan drain valve and used a plastic trough and a bit of duct tape for future oil changes dribble free and not requiring the removal of the T-Rex Racing heavy duty skid plate.
Check out the oil change upgrade video by just clicking on my channel ICON to the left. (the little Versys picture). Or click on this LINK: ruclips.net/video/K2m3cRNxFZU/видео.html&ab_channel=trekOCLVone

I’m very particular about maintenance but doing 3 oil changes in 1100 miles is just wasteful, both of time and resources. Especially when you’re not 100% confident in your oil selection.... oh boy.....

The initial oil changes on the Kawasaki has been pretty clean - I guess I'm so used to all the Chinese engines where the initial oil change has visible shiny spots which are metal shavings left over from the manufacturing process. The good news is I recycle my oil, so its probably not all that wasteful in the end. I do still need to do my 3rd oil change with AMSOIL, which I'll feel much more confident about sticking with the regular intervals. Thanks for your comment!

3 break-in oil changes don't hurt. Thanks for the video.

Do you mean you reuse the oil in a heater, or take it for proper disposal at the local depot/garage?
