I like how they tried to portray France (and Europe in general) as being a barren, grey and bleak backward place when 12th century France was the most powerful state in Western Europe at the time, art and culture was booming
artistic direction; France is no place for Balian, it's cold and barren and bleak to him as that is what is in his heart in his grief, and we contrast this with the warmth of the holy land But you are right

Me too, I like it very much to listen on nomad steppes in winter. It reminds medieval Europe from Andalusia to Anatolia, from France to Cyprus. I think this song has medieval warrior spirit with some religious or holy folk elements, but it’s just my humble opinion. Kazakistannan selamlar!

It is a shame how fox studios made this movie a medieval action flick when clearly it was not meant to be one. The director's cut becomes a totally new movie compared to the theatrical release.
I always play this song in winter, when the delicate feather-like snow falls outside.

France, 1184 : What a time it was...
Not the time you would prefer to live in...
The soundtrack to this movie is phenomenal.
The movie is too.
True bro
I'm 24 years old, unemployed and never been in a relationship and i play this song that I have a difficult time ahead 😢
Lots of great music in this movie and France 1184 and Jerusalem are the best ones
Dont forget Battel of Kerak and Crusaders.
These 4 are brilliant.

This would make an excellent opening title sequence track for an historical TV series

Spotify would be cool place for this song

I used to play a long version of this in loop during my doomer walks... contemplating my lost life.....
This piece was actually composed by Hans Zimmer
So where can I find the rest of Zimmer's work for Kingdom of Heaven?

Good old days, when France was a Christian Nation.
and when King Henry and Suleiman the Magnificent were allies of each other...
You were there?
L yes
France originally wasn't a christian nation
Chirstianity was forced upon the franks during the roman occupation
France is no longer France
haunting in it's beauty
I have the soundtrack and sadly this is not on it. Its awesome!
Thanks for uploading and greetings from Germany to all of you!
A 1 hour of this is required urgently. Alsa the other versions on youtube have horrible quality, this one is much much better.
i think the actual title of this song is France 1186, i know in the movie it says 1184 but i think they actually named it 1186
thank you
Nice piece!
This instrumental perfectly depicts life in medieval Europe - grim, dark and hopeless.
Just like today
Just like the human condition in general.
Northen europe during winter, yes. But summers are nice tho.
@@iliass2002 Yeah, 35 degrees of C, 80% to 90% humidity and blazing sun - what's not to love? 🤣
Medieval Europe in 1184 was in no way a dark and grim place, art, culture and architecture was booming, it was only grim if you were a peasant/serf
Cold and on the cusp of snow! We meet again friends of olde!
No idea why this track isn't on the actual soundtrack of the film.
This pic is beautful.
Does someone know the music's rate? Is it 3/4?
