There's something very interesting about the themes they picked for this arc. Both in 1999 and 2011 are very VERY similar to music composed for christian mass, like Mozart did. This is heavily hinted in the 1999 theme as it's choral and use religious cadencies (a recurrent patern of notes, wich are characteristics by the mood they seem to give.) Same in 2011, Riot is pretty much a Dies Irae (google mozarts dies irae, or Verdi dies irae, extremely similar. Riot even has "Dies Irae" in it lyrics, and Requiem Aranea is ofc requiem mass inspired. All this factors make me think these were composed to represent the conflict between Kurapika and the spiders, more than a single character or group theme. All these pieces are reference to conflict, judgement and death. Wich is very much the core of Kurapikas mision.

I feel like for chrollo theme 2011 “Dirge from the Dark side” fits him more I think the theme you included here was more for the spiders (they did use the music when feitan and Franklin annihilated the auction) Dirge from the dark side was used in most chrollo theme (him sitting down and hisoka watching him and when chrollo appeared vs The Zoldycks)

I started watching Hunter X Hunter from the 2011 version, but whenever people talked about HxH 1999 they said it was no match to it, bad animation quality.... & What I hate the most, they said Gon is a Crybaby in HxH 1999!! But when I watched HxH 1999 I JUST LOVED THE 1999 version SOO MUCH! I don't care if people say my taste is bad.... But actually both the versions are so different... & Especially Leorio in the 1999 version, they actually showed that he was capable of being a Hunter, but the 2011 one doesn't show much about him... The 1999 version is also worth watching! Even though there is quite a difference in the Greed Island arc of the 1999 version... If HxH 2011 is my heart, then HxH 1999 is my heartbeat..

they are different actually. Chrollo’s theme is like AAAAAAARANEA and Uvo’s Requiem is like EE AYYYYYY OH that’s how i remember them at least. but the fact that you got them confused highlights one of the problems with the 2011 theme. There’s a loooot of opera in that soundtrack and sometimes they blend together imo, making them less memorable.
I like 2011 but 99 is definitely better. Other than just outright sounding more unique, it has a mysterious and dark vibe to it the fits Lucifer much more than the grandiose 2011 version.
I like 2011 better cuz it’s more fast paced and epic while 1999 is slow paced, and creepy, and mysterious and I prefer fast paced epicness better in soundtracks
