I bought the Triple Score Pro pack last month based on your videos. I'm in Gulf Shores now and it is an incredible metal detector. I can swing the 12 inch coil for 3 to 4 hours but every now and then switch arms. I followed your beach settings and it is hitting tiny jewelry but so far all is costume or bling jewelry. I found a diamond stud yesterday but the stud was gone so all it had was the plated grip fingers holding a beautiful stone, unfortunately its a lab diamond. Im saving serious money in the TS rechargeable internal battery versus my V540 using lithiums. I like the Vanquish 540 but really loving this Triple Score. Just waiting on hitting the beach hard after the Jan 1 polar plunge down here. Thanks Calabash!
I always enjoy, and appreciate your research, and expertise, on these machines, i live on FL,s Treasure Coast , and been swinging for thirty years now, and always try to keep up with the latest and greatest, technology, and things have really been getting interesting, on what these machines are capable of doing, especially in just the last seven years or so, So thanks again, for keeping us updated on these new machines, and if you ever visit the treasure coast, let me know, i have some shipwreck items.for ya,I think you'd find interesting, and i could always point you to the recent beaches that are producing the old stuff, so hope you had a great Christmas and have a great new year ahead, 🙏🇺🇲
the vortex is subpar and based on it's limited multi frequency range i consider it a toy detector. GARRETT put it on the market and sells it, as is. that is a reflection on GARRETT and for a subpar detector it sure gets a lot of attention. go figure $599.
I own an xp deus 2, a legend, and still ordered a triple score because it comes with the newer style stock coil, the newer elliptical small coil, and all carbon fiber. Free pinpointer, etc $479 shipped, thank you Nokta
@@russn7995 That's the same combo I hunt with. I hunt vacant lots. I go over the lot with the Deus II first. The I scan it again, time permitting, with the Manticore. I have tried them all and still have most of them laying around and you've picked the best two. Cased closed.
Hey Calabash, I would really like it if you can clarify to me (and maybe others) what are the similarities / advantages / disadvantages or whatever between a detector with a target ID scale of 100 vs 60 so that I can understand the differences and which is better (if any)?
The Deus II is the best overall detector made, BUT EMI eats it up at some of the sites I hunt. So I switch over to the Manticore. It's just a good as the Deus II but not as solid on the ID's. Yes, I am a coin shooter and use the ID's to help decide what to dig. If you can afford these 2 that's all you'll ever need. These are my opinions.
The sweet spot for detecting is 3 to 25 khz anything over that range is basically for tiny gold. Those top of line detectors have those frequencies because of there gold modes.. Also lower weighted frequencies penetrate the ground deeper. The higher frequencies don't penetrate that deep mostly cause of its short wavelength very shallow in depth. Personally for detecting I'm looking for 3 - 25 khz range.. Sucks Garrett hasnt perfected there multi yet but the Minelab 700 works in that range and I've hit some very deep coins with that detector. Its by far my best silver coin machine ! I've worked that machine in iron as well and had success even though it runs on 4-15 k ... It's a coin killer machine !
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! BUT they are wrong as to the why the companies use 40kh for unmasking in iron.......The 700 works with Multi IQ which runs up to around 40kh...The 700. does have programs that are weighted different...Actually thanks for posting this as it will be a great topic for tomorrow's live..
@calabashdiggeradventures Are you sure the 700 works in that range? My thoughts was that it utilizes 4-15 simultaneously.Guess I'm not sure on that one.. 🤔 Anyway thanks for making the videos always interesting to hear your thoughts on these metel detectors and how they work !
@@calabashdiggeradventures The Equinox 700 supports four frequencies: 4kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz, and 15kHz. It does include a Multi-IQ option that will let it search on all available frequencies simultaneously.
Got a question you might could answer for me. On the manticore is there a difference in the frequencies in general more and fast mode? Fast sure seems to separate better then general but doesn't seem to have quite as good response at depth. Just curious if you happen to know.
Absolutely! You gave the Vortex a fair and vigorous comparison for what they claimed it to be and it’s 💩. Thanks for not being a sellout. 💪🏼 It’s Garrett’s fault not yours, and if they would produce a superior product you’d be demonstrating that instead. PS: the D2 isn’t actually “simultaneous”, it transmits two different frequencies alternately(one high, one low) microseconds apart from each other. It’s “Fast Multi Frequency “ (FMF), not simultaneous multi-frequency. Each program except mono works that way and it appears seamless to the user.
********* Calabash, What videos do you have showing that the Manticore and Deus II are the best unmaskers. Do you mean unmaskers in iron, aluminum, both? If so, by how much exactly are they better? The reason I'm asking is twofold: 1) The main characteristic needed for effective aluminum unmasking is a low frequency, and the decent modern SMF detectors have a very low frequency mode. For example, Deep HC on the Manticore and Deus II, and M3 on the Legend / Score. As such, provided that the coil sizes and other settings are the same, I would think that the aluminum unmasking performance between those detectors would be very similar. 2) The main characteristics needed for effective iron unmasking is a high frequency and a manual iron bias control that is set low. The decent modern SMF detectors have those features. As such, provided that the coil sizes and other settings are the same, I would think that the iron unmasking performance between detectors with those features would be very similar.
Point 1...On the Manticore no matter what program I use I can not get it to beat the Deus II in deep hc or general in the modern trash test I did...pull tab foil etc..M3 on the Legend will beat the Minelabs on this test.. Point 2 I understand your theory but it does not work out like that in real...NASA TOM who tested the Manticore and then latter the Deus II ...Gave an exact percentage ...it was under 20% ....but he even acknowledge the advantages the Deus II had over the Manticore in iron unmasking... The Manticore has advantages in other areas that is WHY I say they are tied for #1 in the world.
@@calabashdiggeradventures Thanks for the reply. Point1: Given M3 on the Legend and Score beats the Minelabs in modern trash tests, then how does M3 compare to the D2 in modern trash tests? I'm guessing if the D2 has a low enough SMF mode, then the D2 and Nokta's M3 would have similar results in modern trash unmasking. Point 2: I'm aware of Nasa Tom, his posts, and am especially aware of his hand in developing the Manticore. I think you know where I'm going with that. Anyway, in the iron unmasking tests that I've seen, the detectors all performed in a similar manner, provided that a high weighted SMF mode was used, along with a low iron bias, etc.
In the more extreme test the Deus II has been ahead not by miles but clear enough to say it is winning....I feel confident with either in the iron...One note to that though the Deus II has BETTER tone but the Minelab seem to ID better in unmasking test. That is FAST Deus II vs Manticore Low conductors...Opened up on both machine with huntable settings.
