Super review. I've had one for a few months now. I have noticed where you put your thumbs matter. Your strong side thumb works better when you place it in that textured area bellow the slide. It didn't feel right at first, but after a short time, the accuracy really jumped. I have since put an Apex threaded barrel, Triger, Extended mag release, the Volker MK2 comp, the MCarbo Titanium striker and spring set, Holoson 507k x2 and the Lakeline LLC extended slide lock. It's even more amazing now.
Just purchased the Hellcat Pro. Been carrying the Sig P238 HD for 5 years so this is a pretty substantial change in size, but it feels remarkable in the hand.
First I had the G19 gen3, and was looking for something more EDC friendly. So I transitioned to a G48. It was a lot easier to EDC but, I hated the trigger, the plastic sights were hard to sight align for me and my older eyes, the grip lacked, the magazine does not flush fit, and lastly it only had 10 rounds capacity. (I did not trust the shield mag's from all the negative reviews). Some how in my discontent mind I discovered the Hellcat, more specifically the hellcat pro! This EDC checked off all the wishlist items I did not have in my G48 and G19. My Hellcat came with bonus magazines (5) and a range bag with this bundle.
Enjoyed your review. I bought 2 hellcat pros! They are my primary guns. I'm working toward a conceal and carry. I have a P365, 3.1 barrel and am looking for a full-size to complete my collection. Thanks again!
Heather, Most truimphant video. Informative, accurate and to the point on the Hellcat Pro. I have one and prefer it over SW Sheild Plus and Glock 48. Congrats to a job well done. Keep up great work. USN Retired
Thank you for the video. I have a laser for my EDC, but I'm old, so the laser works best for me. I like your idea of making your own ammo, I'm going to look into that.
I'm a little confused about what you're saying about 115gr and 147gr. It's always been my experience that heavier rounds have noticeably more kick then lighter rds. But you're saying the 147gr kicks less then 115hr? How is that? I'll have to test this again and pay more attention. I'm all about a softer shooting round with defense ammo so I can stay on target better. For frame of reference, I mostly use 147gr federal HST and 147 Speer Gold dot for duty, qualification and "low round count" training. For plinking and "high round count" training I mostly get the cheapest 115gr brass cased stuff I can find.
My home recipe is a combination with 147 grain and a lower amount of powder. With a heavier bullet, there is a slower rate of pressure build within the cartridge upon combustion. Slower rate of pressure plus heavier grain will slow down the action / slide of your gun for less perceived recoil. This is good for competition pistols as you can get back on target faster, however, a slower bullet / velocity will mean that you lose accuracy. Pistols not a big deal, but with rifles, you want a higher velocity which will make your round more accurate.
In 9mm the 147 grain has less recoil than 115 grain because it has less velocity. I carry 147 grain HST which shoots softer than say a 115 Punch , both from Federal. With the 147 grain I can get back onto target much quicker than with 115.
You're correct, factory load of the same round 115 is lighter recoiling than 147.... Perceived recoil is a bit subjective though. But it takes less energy to move a light object faster. The reason 45acp has up to 50% more recoil than 9mm in a pew of similar weights, even though they generally impact with the same ft/lbs. Then as far as getting back on target, the reason some people prefer the g45 to the g17 is the lighter shorter slide. Faster cycling can have a sharper(or snappy of you prefer) recoil whole heavier slower can have a bigger push feel. It's what works best for the individual. Either way, i put layers of grip tape on the back my hc pro because the paper thin grip makes it feel twice as snappy as my 43x to me.
I daily carry the hell cat pro and have over 2k rounds through mine also I sent it to monsoon tactical and had the hellport done to it with the cost of the gun and the hell port I still paid less than I would of paid for a xmacro anyway great video you don’t see many people with the hell cat pro it’s always the sig macro which I own as well but I would carry the hellcat over the macro any day period
I got a hellcat pro because my ol lady has a hellcat osp. (His and hers) Two weeks ago put about 250 rounds through her. Mainly crappy tul ammo, but ran flawlessly.
Thank you for reviewing this gun. I had recently bought one but in flat dark earth version. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for mines because I have a 14 day waiting period because I live in Hawaii. I'm so jealous you get to have 17 rounds in a magazine. Hawaii has a ban for no more than 10 rounds in a handgun mag.
I prefer the P365XL given that the slide is much easier to rack. As for capacity, MagGuts makes a +2 extension for the 12-round Sig magazine that is supposed to be very reliable.
That is a very nice pistol. I noticed you didn't do a sight adjusting, unless you did prior to shooting this video. If that was straight out of the box! It's worth the money.
@@guyblew1733 Red dots don't generally need to be raised in order to use both the optic and irons. The adapter plate on this gun is separate from the rear sight (unlike the Sig @ 8:56), so just pop your optic on and you'll still be able to see your stock irons through the glass.
Good review. It did look like the gun beat you up a little. One correction. The SIG P365XL, while it will take a 15 round mag that has a big base plate extension, it's flush fit mag holds 12 rounds.
Why didn’t it lock open on your last shot. You were shooting 5 rounds at a time I never saw the slide lick back once in the whole video. I know its not the pistol so how did you accomplish that. Good review.
I've always been a Sig guy. Never liked the Springfield. The pro changed my mind. I've since divorced Sig, married Springfield. Happily ever after. Sleep tight kids
@@Heather-rungun I know Sig has a 15 round mag but the Sig macro mag fits too which is 17 rounds. For the sake of the video though when you had them side by side you said they both hold 15. The P365XL only holds 12 the way it comes out of the box with the flush mags included. Someone that's new to guns might buy the 365xl and be disappointed when they get it when the notice it's 12 and not 15.
@@Heather-rungun Yeah, with the 15rd mag though, the XL would be taller than the HCP. The MACRO with a 17rd mag is just like .25"-.33" taller, but that equates to a lot when you're trying to conceal it. **NOTE: You can put a MAGGUTS kit in the XL mags and make them 14+1 and not add any extra length.
I absolutely love the video! You covered everything I was curious about, and I love a review with a bit of shooting in it! However the Eyelash filter you're using is SUPER distracting. It's hard to pay attention to your shooting when you have eyelashes appearing on the bill of your hat. Otherwise good stuff!
Hellcat, takes any ammo like a champ. Great gun for edc.
Yeah!
Thanks! Heather it’s always a pleasure and God Bless you and your family.🙏

Has the comp cut down on how snappy it is?

Awesome I almost went with a hellcat when I got my EDC. I used to live in WA St also. I wasn't far from Tacoma in the Graham/Spanaway area.
I bought a dark purple one with roses on it. Color caught my eye but it felt awesome in my hand. Can’t wait to try it out tomorrow!!😊
Perfect self defense for unwanted home intruders.
Imperfect SD for wanted home intruders.

As far as shootability bt the hellcat pro and the 365xl which one would you pick?
What did you think of those factory sites? I like the bright greenish yellow front site easy to pick up
What mag loader are you using in the video?

I should probably shoot it rested just to be sure, however, if I’m adding a red dot, the irons won’t be needed

is your self defence hollow point a 147 grain?
Great video ! Thanks
'Looks like a big difference in grip sizes between the Hellcat Pro and P365XL. One of the two will definitely fit a given individual's hand better.

The Sig is still slightly smaller which is easier for me to conceal so I switch between the 2 depending on the day.
Not locking back on empty?
If you're going to keep it, then I just have 4 words for you. Powder River Precision Trigger. It made mine awesome. Must better than the Apex.
I’ll check it out
The Hellcat standard trigger is excellent. No reason to change it.
Awesome review of an awesome pew pew. keep doing you 🇺🇸😎💪

Thank you very much!
So if you’re in “Rainy Washington” (Assuming Washington State) how do you have a 15RND Magazine?
You were not required to hand in your standard capacity magazines. After the law went into effect, you cannot buy them in WA anymore.
The P365XL is 12+1. You said it held 15 like the Hellcat Pro
You can get a 15 round magazine with a grip extension.
